In this work, we address some issues related to products of graphs and products of modal logics. Our main contribution is the presentation of a necessary and sufficient condition for a countable and connected graph to be a product, using a property called intransitivity. We then proceed to describe this property in a logical language. First, we show that intransitivity is not modally definable and also that no necessary and sufficient condition for a graph to be a product can be modally definable. Then, we exhibit a formula in a hybrid language that describes intransitivity. With this, we get a logical characterization of products of graphs of arbitrary dimensions. We then use this characterization to obtain two other interesting results. First, we determine that it is possible to test in polynomial time, using a model-checking algorithm, whether a finite connected graph is a product. This test has cubic complexity in the size of the graph and quadratic complexity in its number of dimensions. Finally, we use this characterization of countable connected products to provide sound and complete axiomatic systems for a large class of products of modal logics. This class contains the logics defined by product frames obtained from Kripke frames that satisfy connectivity, transitivity and symmetry plus any additional property that can be defined by a pure hybrid formula. Most sound and complete axiomatic systems presented in the literature are for products of a pair of modal logics, while we are able, using hybrid logics, to provide sound and complete axiomatizations for many products of arbitrary dimensions.  相似文献

Developing Pt-free catalysts for hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR) in alkaline solution is becoming a key challenge in the development of anion exchange membrane fuel cells and electrochemical reactors. Herein, we present the preparation, HOR activity, and stability of Pd-decorated tungsten (Pd-d-W) catalysts. The Pd-d-W catalysts were prepared by the chemically activated surface of tungsten nanoparticles by Pd ions. The resultant bimetallic catalysts consisted of crystalline phases of both Pd and W nanoparticles. The CO stripping voltammograms and H-desorption (Hdes) peak potential of hydrogen desorption in Pd suggests that the enhancement of HOR catalytic activity observed in Pd-d-W catalyst can be ascribed to the modification of electronic property of Pd and availability of OHad near-surface Pd atoms.  相似文献

Prompted by early observations of the cytotoxic and antineoplastic properties of certain ferrocene and ferricenium derivatives, efforts in this laboratory were focused on the synthesis of carrier-bound ferrocene compounds. Subsequent cell culture tests carried out with selected conjugates obtained in that program showed these polymers to be highly active antiproliferative agents. In the present project toxicological work has been performed in vivo on several ferrocene conjugates in an effort to assess their toxic effects in experimental animals (CD-1 mice). The conjugates, all based on an ,-DL-polyaspartamide backbone structure, comprise the ferrocene drug model as a terminal on short side chains containing biofissionable amide or ester links for intracellular drug release. The polymers, dissolved in phosphate-buffered saline, have been injected in predetermined concentrations into the vein of the mice, and the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) levels have been determined, the latter referring to the highest dose levels administered that would allow long-term survival of the test animals. For the five conjugates tested, MTD levels range from about 3 to 30 mg Fe/kg or 0.05–0.66 mmol Fe/kg. Compared on a molar metal-to-metal basis with similarly structured platinum conjugates tested previously (MTD, 0.14–2.66 mmol Pt/kg), these values are indicative of comparatively high toxicity of the ferrocene polymers. Some implications of these findings are discussed.  相似文献

By histochemical and immunohistochemical methods, the presence of cholinergic-like molecules has previously been demonstrated in Paramecium primaurelia, and their functional role in mating-cell pairing was suggested. In this work, both true acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE) activities were electrophoretically investigated, and the presence of molecules immunologically related to BuChE was checked by immunoblotting. The AChE activity, shown in the membrane protein fraction of mating-competent cells and in the cytoplasmic fraction of immature cells, is due to a 260-kDa molecular form, similar to the membrane-bound tetrameric form present in human erythrocytes. This AChE activity does not appear in either the cytoplasmic fraction of mating-competent cells or in the membrane protein fraction of immature cells. No evidence was found for the presence or the activity of BuChE-like molecules. The role of AChE in P. primaurelia developmental cycle is discussed.  相似文献

This study proposes that the nature of Automated Manufacturing Technology (AMT)-as reflected in the degree of 'technological coupling' and as perceived by shop floor operators in terms of new job control characteristics (timing and method control, monitoring and problem solving demand, production responsibility)-affects operators' psychological well-being (satisfaction and mental health). The study sample consisted of 216 operators of AMT equipment. Findings indicate that technological coupling is negatively related to the job characteristics of timing and method control, and to psychological well-being variables. Operators' satisfaction is positively related to problem solving, production responsibility and timing and method control. Mental health is negatively related to production responsibility. Implications for job redesign and employees selection to AMT work units are discussed. Yet, results indicate that operators' response to technological coupling is contingent upon their desirability of control (DC). For operators with low DC (as opposed to high DC) coupling conditions did not make any difference in psychological well-being.  相似文献

Tonsils have a privileged situation in the immune system in that they are in touch with the environment. Melatonin is a hormone that is influenced by the circadian environmental variations of dark-light and is a modulator of the immune system. We have studied a group of thirty five children with recurrent acute tonsillitis that were submitted for tonsillectomy. Tonsillar lymphocyte subsets were determined before and after culture through flow cytometry in a tonsillar mononuclear suspension. After the culture, the lymphocyte subsets of type B suffered a decrease that was restored in the presence of melatonin or phytohemaglutinin, and even increased above the values of the control when the culture was accomplished in the presence of both substances. This process was specific for B cells, no occurrence for T lymphocytes or natural killer cells. Melatonin is found in the crossroads of the interaction of the microorganisms, pollens or inert substances with the tonsillar lymphocytes in the production of the immune defences. Further study is required on tonsillar pathology to explain its physiopathology and its possible therapeutic role.  相似文献

During retinal growth and optic axon regeneration, the differential expression of the neuronal intermediate filament proteins, plasticin and gefiltin, in the goldfish visual pathway suggests that these proteins support programmed axonal growth. To investigate plasticin and gefiltin during axonogenesis, we turned to the zebrafish, a system that is more amenable to mutational analysis. As a first step, we demonstrated that the intermediate filament compositions of goldfish and zebrafish are similar. In addition, the cDNAs for zebrafish plasticin and gefiltin were cloned and characterized. Using in situ hybridization in retina, we show increased mRNA levels for these proteins following optic nerve crush. Zebrafish plasticin and gefiltin peak and return to baseline levels of expression more rapidly than in goldfish. Furthermore, in the unoperated eye of experimental fish, there was a moderate increase in the levels of plasticin and gefiltin mRNA, suggesting that soluble factors influence the expression of these proteins. The successive expression of plasticin and gefiltin suggests that these neuronal intermediate filament proteins are integral components of axonogenesis. The cloning and characterization of cDNAs for plasticin and gefiltin permit mutational analyses of these proteins during zebrafish axonogenesis.  相似文献
