The expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm is well established as a computationally efficient method for separable signal parameter estimation. Here, a new geometric derivation and interpretation of the EM algorithm is given that facilitates the understanding of EM convergence properties. Geometric considerations lead to an alternative separable signal parameter estimator based on successive cancellation. The new generalized successive interference cancellation (GSIC) algorithm is then applied to multiuser delay and channel estimation for code-division multiple access (CDMA) radiolocation and communication. The radiolocation application uses a handshaking protocol in which multiple reference nodes transmit acknowledge (ACK) CDMA packets to a master node, which then computes round-trip travel times (RTTs). Simulation results comparing EM and GSIC are presented for the CDMA channel-estimation problem.  相似文献

In the present work, we report the formation of residual oxide layer during chemical–mechanical-planarization (CMP) process in the carbon nanotube (CNT) via interconnects and some feasible solutions for its removal. Residual oxide layer makes electrically poor contact between CNTs and metal resulting in high contact resistance in CNT via interconnects. We adopt post-CMP processes such as hydrofluoric acid (HF) or Ar plasma treatment to remove the residual oxide layer. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was used to confirm the chemical state of samples before and after the post-CMP process. Silicon and oxygen peaks from silicon-based oxide layer observed after the CMP process were disappeared and reduced in its intensity by the post-CMP process, respectively. Furthermore, via resistance decreased more than 1 order of magnitude after the post-CMP process. It is found that the post-CMP process provides good electrical contact between CNTs and metal by removing the residual oxide layer.  相似文献

In this study, biomechanical characteristics during the whole process of gait initiation for twenty normal healthy volunteers were determined by the motion analysis with six near-infrared cameras, four forceplates, and an EMG system. Gait initiation, a transitional movement phenomenon from quiet stance to steady-state walking, involves a series of muscular activities, GRFs, movements of COP and COM, and joint motions. Results showed that the location of the net COP to be most lateral during double limb stance at the beginning of gait initiation. During gait initiation, changes in anteroposterior components of GRFs were first found and then changes in vertical components followed. Hip and knee motions were found before the ankle joint motion. Walking speed, step length, and stride length gradually increased until the second step. The interaction between the COM and COP is tightly regulated to control the trajectory of the COM and thereby control total body balance. The effect that egg yolk or maternal n−3 FA have on the cardiac tissue long-chain n−3 FA status of chicks during growth was investigated. Fggs with low, medium, and high levels of n−3 PUFA were obtained by feeding breeder hens a wheat/soybean meal-based diet containing 5% sunflower oil (Low n−3), 2.5% sunflower oil plus 2.5% fish oil (Medium n−3), or 5% fish oil (High n−3). The chicks hatched from Low, Medium, and High n−3 eggs were fed a diet containing 18∶3n−3, but devoid of long-chain n−3 FA. The FA composition of cardiac tissue was determined on days 0, 14, 28, and 42. At day 0, the cardiac FA reflected maternal diet. With time, the level of all the long-chain n−3 FA decreased compared with day 0, and this was true especially by day 14. These data show that dietary 18∶3n−3 fed to the chicks did not sustain high levels of EPA and DHA in cardiac tissue, despite the high content of long-chain n−3 FA in the maternal diet. At days 0 and 14, the chicks hatched from High and Medium n−3 eggs had higher 20∶5n−3, 22∶5n−3, and 22∶6n−3 contents with a concomitant reduction in 20∶4n−6 in the cardiac tissue compared with the Low n−3 egg group. Cardiac tissue of birds hatched from Medium n−3 eggs retained higher levels of 20∶5n−3 up to day 42 of growth when compared with other treatments (P<0.05). None of the treatments was effective in maintaining DHA levels after day 14 of growth.  相似文献

This paper presents the implementation of a wireless multimedia DSP chip for mobile applications. The implemented DSP chip supports communication instructions for Viterbi, timing synchronization, etc. as well as multimedia instructions. The DSP can handle variable length data and perform four MACs in a cycle. The proposed DSP employs parallel processing techniques, such as SIMD, vector processing, DSP schemes and adopts low power features for wireless applications. The implemented DSP chip includes test circuits and various peripherals, such as DMA, bus arbitration, timer, etc. This chip has been modeled by Verilog HDL and implemented using the 0.35 m HCB60 library. The total gate count excluding memory is about 170,000 gates and the clock frequency is 100 MHz.Junghoo Lee received the B.S. degree in electronic engineering from Ajou University, Suwon, Korea in 2002. He is the Director of the National Research Laboratory sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology. His research interests include VLSI architectures, SOC design for multimedia and communications, and application-specific DSP architectures.Dr. Sunwoo has published more than 120 papers in international transactions/journals and conferences and also has 28 patents including five U.S. patents. He served as a Technical Program Chair of the IEEE Workshop on Signal Processing Systems (SIPS) in 2003 and a member of the technical program committee of various international conferences. He has received a number of research awards from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, Samsung Electronics, and professional foundations. He served as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) Systems (2002–2003) and as a Guest Editor for the Journal of VLSI Signal Processing (Kluwer, 2004). This paper presents digital signal processor (DSP) instructions and their data processing unit (DPU) architecture for high‐speed fast Fourier transforms (FFTs) in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. The proposed instructions jointly perform new operation flows that are more efficient than the operation flow of the multiply and accumulate (MAC) instruction on which existing DSP chips heavily depend. We further propose a DPU architecture that fully supports the instructions and show that the architecture is two times faster than existing DSP chips for FFTs. We simulated the proposed model with a Verilog HDL, performed a logic synthesis using the 0.35 µm standard cell library, and then verified the functions thoroughly.  相似文献

A new catalytic system based on palladium‐amido‐N‐heterocyclic carbenes for Suzuki–Miyaura coupling reactions of heteroaryl bromides is described. A variety of sterically bulky, amido‐N‐imidazolium salts were synthesized in high yields from the corresponding anilines. This catalytic system effectively promoted Suzuki–Miyaura couplings of heteroaryl bromides and chlorides with a range of boronic acids to give the corresponding aryl compounds in high yield. The yield was increased with increasing steric bulkiness of the substituted group. Especially, 1‐(2,6‐diisopropylphenyl)‐3‐N‐(2,4,6‐tri‐tert‐butylphenylacetamido)imidazolium bromide ( 4bc ) exhibited 850,000 TON in the coupling reaction of 2‐bromopyridine and phenylboronic acid. In addition, pharmaceutical compounds such as milrinone and irbesartan were synthesized via Suzuki–Miyaura coupling using sterically bulky, amido‐N‐imidazolium salt ( 4bc ) as a ligand.  相似文献
