Curcumin, a natural polyphenolic compound, has astounding therapeutic applications but lacks in bioavailability mainly due to its poor solubility in water. Polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) which is a proven drug carrier has been used to facilitate the conjugation of curcumin with gold nanoparticles and to improve the solubility of curcumin in water. In this conjugate diaryl heptanoid chromophore group of curcumin which is a much needed group in biomedical applications remains intact as observed from FTIR and UV–vis spectroscopy analysis. The work shows good promise for such conjugates as therapeutic-cum-imaging materials in biomedical field. 相似文献

Fermentation of syngas offers several advantages compared to chemical catalysts such as higher specificity of biocatalysts, lower energy costs, and higher carbon efficiency. Scale-up of syngas fermentation from a bench scale to a pilot scale fermentor is a critical step leading to commercialization. The primary objective of this research was to install and commission a pilot scale fermentor, and subsequently scale-up the Clostridium strain P11 fermentation from a 7.5-L fermentor to a pilot scale 100-L fermentor. Initial preparation and fermentations were conducted in strictly anaerobic conditions. The fermentation system was maintained in a batch mode with continuous syngas supply. The effect of anaerobic fermentation in a pilot scale fermentor was evaluated. In addition, the impact of improving the syngas mass transfer coefficient on the utilization and product formation was studied. Results indicate a six fold improvement in ethanol concentration compared to serum bottle fermentation, and formation of other compounds such as isopropyl alcohol, acetic acid and butanol, which are of commercial importance. 相似文献

The purpose of this study is to investigate the catalytic effects of Na as NaCl or as sodium carboxylates (-COONa) in Victorian brown coal on the char reactivity. A Na-exchanged coal and a set of NaCl-loaded coal samples prepared from a Loy Yang brown coal were pyrolysed in a fluidised-bed/fixed-bed reactor and in a thermogravimetric analyser (TGA). The reactivities of the chars were measured in air at 400 °C using the TGA. The experimental data indicate that the Na in coal as NaCl and as sodium carboxylates (-COONa) had very different catalytic effects on the char reactivity. It is the chemical form and dispersion of Na in char, not in coal, that govern the catalytic effects of Na. For the Na-form (Na-exchanged) coal, the char reactivity increased with increasing pyrolysis temperature from 500 to 700 °C and then decreased with pyrolysis temperature from 700 to 900 °C. The increase in reactivity with pyrolysis temperature (500-700 °C) is mainly due to the changes in the relative distribution of Na in the char matrix and on the pore surface. For the NaCl-loaded coals, when Cl was released during pyrolysis or gasification, the Na originally present in coal as NaCl showed good catalytic effects for the char gasification. Otherwise, Cl would combine with Na in the char to form NaCl during gasification, preventing Na from becoming an active catalyst. Controlling the pyrolysis conditions to favour the release of Cl can be a promising way to transform NaCl in coal into an active catalyst for char gasification. 相似文献

Bonding between polymers through interdiffusion of macromolecules is a well-known mechanism of polymer adhesion. A new polymer bonding mechanism in the solid state, taking place at ambient temperatures well below the glass transition value (Tg), has been recently reported; in this mechanism, bulk plastic compression of polymer films held in contact led to adhesion over timescales of the order of a fraction of a second. In this study, we prepared various blends of plasticized polymer films with desirable ductility from amorphous and semicrystalline powders of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose and polyvinyl alcohol derivatives; then, we observed the bonding of these polymers at ambient temperatures, up to 80 K below Tg, purely through mechanical deformation. The deformation-induced bonding of the polymer films studied in this work led to interfacial fracture toughnesses in the range of 1.0–21.0 J/m2 when bulk plastic strains between 3% and 30% were imposed across the films. Scanning electron microscopy observation of the debonded interfaces also confirmed that bonding was caused by deformation-induced macromolecular mobilization and interpenetration. These results expand the range of applicability of sub-Tg, solid-state, deformation-induced bonding processes. 相似文献

CuInS2 nanoparticles have been synthesized via solvent thermolysis of novel bimetallic complexes of the general formula [(Ph3P)2CuIn(S2COR)4] (where R = CH3; C2H5; C(CH3)2); and [(Ph3P)2CuIn(SCH2CH2S)2]. These complexes have been prepared by the reactions of Na/KS2COR and NaSCH2CH2SNa with InCl3 and [(Ph3P)2CuNO3] in methanol, respectively. Solvent thermolyses of these complexes were carried out in ethylene glycol at 196 degrees C for different time periods. The nanoparticles obtained were characterized extensively by techniques like powder X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, selected area electron diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. We present here recent work at NPAC aimed at developing WebFlow – a general purpose Web-based visual interactive programming environment for coarse grain distributed computing. We follow the 3-tier architecture with the central control and integration WebVM layer in tier-2, interacting with the visual graph editor applets in tier-1 (front-end) and the legacy systems in tier-3. WebVM is given by a mesh of Java Web servers such as Jeeves from JavaSoft or Jigsaw from MIT/W3C. All system control structures are implemented as URL-addressable servlets which enable Web browser-based authoring, monitoring, publication, documentation and software distribution tools for distributed computing. We view WebFlow/WEbVM as a promising programming paradigm and co-ordination model for the exploding volume of Web/Java software, and we illustrate it in a set of ongoing application development activities. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

Water dispersible Gd2O3:Dy3+ (2%) nanophosphors were synthesized through a facile polyol process and characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) and photoluminescence (PL) spectrophotometry. The results of XRD, TEM and DLS show that resultant nanoparticles are single phasic and have spherical shape with 17 to 22% dispersibility. An efficient energy transfer was observed from host to the dopant ions. Characteristic blue and yellow emissions from Dy3+ ions were observed. The CIE coordinates of the nanophosphor lie in the white light region of the chromaticity diagram. Spin coating of the nanophosphor was done on quartz substrate. Bright white luminescence of this film was observed under ultraviolet light with lamda exc = 310 nm. 相似文献

Complex intuitionistic fuzzy sets (CIFSs), modeled by complex-valued membership and nonmembership functions with codomain the unit disc in a complex plane, handle two-dimensional information in a single set. Under this environment, the primary objective of the present study is to introduce some novel formulae of information measures (similarity measures, distance measures, entropies, and inclusion measures) and discuss the transformation relationships among them. To demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed similarity measures, we apply it to pattern recognition problem and a detailed comparative analysis is conducted with some of the existing measures. Further, algorithms based on proposed measures are developed for handing multicriteria decision-making problems and their working is illustrated with the help of an example. Besides this, the practicality of the proposed similarity measure is demonstrated by developing a clustering algorithm under CIFS environment. 相似文献
