A 0.3 m diameter, 2 m long and 0.0015 m thick, 18 nickel 1800 MNm–2 grade maraging steel motor case was designed, fabricated and burst tested to gain experience for using the steel as booster case material in satellite launch vehicles. The bursting occurred at 15.2 MPa for which the effective hoop stress worked out to be 1754 MNm–2 almost equal to the ultimate tensile strength (1764 MNm–2) of the material in the solution treated and aged condition. The failure analysis revealed that the material failed due to normal tensile overload fracture. The burst test data was used to arrive at fracture mechanics parameters like crack size, gross section area stress and the stress for leak before bursting. 相似文献

Molecular diffusivity of a solute in a solvent may be determined by measuring the extent of dispersion of solute in solvent flowing in a straight circular tube under the conditions of laminar flow. This simple and rapid method for determination of molecular diffusivity in aquous polymer solutions is discussed. We propose simple models to predict the performance degradation of disk requests due to storage device contention in consolidated virtualized environments. Model parameters can be deduced from measurements obtained inside Virtual Machines (VMs) from a system where a single VM accesses a remote storage server. The parameterized model can then be used to predict the effect of storage contention when multiple VMs are consolidated on the same server. We first propose a trace-driven approach that evaluates a queueing network with fair share scheduling using simulation. The model parameters consider Virtual Machine Monitor level disk access optimizations and rely on a calibration technique. We further present a measurement-based approach that allows a distinct characterization of read/write performance attributes. In particular, we define simple linear prediction models for I/O request mean response times, throughputs and read/write mixes, as well as a simulation model for predicting response time distributions. We found our models to be effective in predicting such quantities across a range of synthetic and emulated application workloads. 相似文献

Itaconic acid finds a place in various industrial applications. It can be produced by biocultivation in a clean and environment friendly route but recovery of the acid from the dilute stream of the bioreactor is an economic problem. Reactive extraction is a promising method to recover carboxylic acid but suffers from toxicity problems of the diluent and extractant employed. So there is need for a non‐toxic extractant and diluent or a combination of less toxic extractants in a non‐toxic diluent that can recover acid efficiently. Effect of different extractants: tri‐n‐butylphosphate (TBP) (an organophosporous compound) and Aliquat 336 (a quaternary amine) in sunflower oil was studied to find the best extractant–sunflower oil combination. Equilibrium complexation constant, KE, values of 1.789 and 2.385 m3 kmol?1, respectively, were obtained for itaconic acid extraction using TBP and Aliquat 336 in sunflower oil. The problem of toxicity in reactive extraction can be reduced by using a natural non‐toxic diluent (sunflower oil) with the extractant. Copyright © 2010 Society of Chemical Industry 相似文献

An analytical procedure, developed to simulate the graphic method for the design of vessels subjected to external pressure or vacuum, suggested by the ASME Code, Section VIII, Division 1, is presented in this contribution. A comprehensive computer program based on this method is also presented. The program also covers the design of stiffener rings. The procedure can be easily extended to include other international standards such as the British and German codes, since the method is based on the concept of the number of lobes at collapse. The method produced reproducible results over the entire range of L/D0 and D0/t ratios of the code. The deviation observed at any point in this range is less than 0.5% for factor A. In this paper, we have developed a new full-adder cell using multiplexing control input techniques (MCIT) for the sum operation and the Shannon-based technique to implement the carry. The proposed adder cell is applied to the design of several 8-bit array multipliers, namely a Braun array multiplier, a CSA multiplier, and Baugh–Wooley multipliers. The multiplier circuits are designed using DSCH2 VLSI CAD tools and their layouts are generated by Microwind 3 VLSI CAD tools. The output parameters such as propagation delay, total chip area, and power dissipation are calculated from the simulated results. We have also calculated energy per instruction (EPI), throughput, latency, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and the effect of temperature on the drain current by using the generated layout output parameter of a BSIM 4 advanced analyzer. The simulated results of the proposed adder-based multiplier circuit are compared with a cell multiplier that utilizes a MCIT-based adder, a cell multiplier composed of complementary pass transistor logic-based (CPL) adders and those of other published multipliers circuits. From the analysis of these simulated results, it was found that the proposed multiplier circuit gives better performance in terms of power, propagation delay, latency and throughput than other published results. 相似文献

Objective: The present study tested the hypothesis that social problem solving (SPS) served to mediate the relationship between preceived stress and noncardiac chest pain (NCCP). Design: Adults undergoing stress myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) to determine the presence of underlying cardiovascular disease related to the experience of chest pain were recruited prior to stress testing to complete a series of self-report inventories. Main Outcome Measures: MPI results were used to identify individuals with NCCP (N = 166; 91 men, 75 women; mean age = 53.92 years, SD = 11.98). Measures included perceived stress, SPS, and chest pain frequency and intensity. Results: In direct tests of the mediational effects of SPS, it was found that two problem-solving dimensions, negative problem orientation and rational problem solving, each served as significant mediators of the effects of stress on both NCCP intensity and frequency. Conclusion: These results support a mediational analysis of NCCP that includes stress and SPS. As such, it identifies SPS as a potentially important clinical target to consider when developing future psychosocial-based therapy protocols for treating individuals with NCCP. Garden cress (Lepidium sativum L.) is an edible, underutilised herb, grown mainly for its seeds in India. Physicochemical properties, minor components (unsaponifiable
matter, tocopherols, carotenoids), fatty acid composition and storage stability of garden cress seed oil (GCO) were studied.
Cold press, solvent and supercritical CO2 extraction methods were employed to extract the oil. The total oil content of garden cress (GC) seeds was 21.54, 18.15 and
12.60% respectively by solvent, supercritical CO2 and cold press methods. The physical properties of GCO extracted by the above methods were similar in terms of refractive
index, specific gravity and viscosity. However, cold pressed oil showed low PV and FFA compared to the oil extracted by other
methods. α-Linolenic acid (34%) was the major fatty acid in GCO followed by oleic (22%), linoleic (11.8%), eicosanoic (12%),
palmitic (10.1%) erucic (4.4%), arachidic (3.4%) and stearic acids (2.9%). Oleic acid (39.9%) and α-linolenic acid (42.1%)
were the predominant fatty acids at the sn-2 position. The total tocopherol and carotenoid content of GCO was 327.42 and 1.0 μmol/100 g oil, respectively. The oil was
stable up to 4 months at 4 °C. Tocopherol and BHT offered the least protection, while ascorbyl palmitate (200 ppm) offered
the maximum protection to the oil, when subjected to the accelerated oxidative stability test. Thus GCO can be considered
