The aim of our study was to evaluate whether inhibition of ACE (lisinopril 10-20 mg/day) can reduce the rate of decline in kidney function more than reducing blood pressure with conventional antihypertensive treatment (atenolol 50-100 mg/day), usually in combination with a diuretic. We performed a prospective, randomized, parallel study for 42 months, double blind for the first 12 months and single blind thereafter. Forty-three (21 lisinopril and 22 atenolol) hypertensive NIDDM patients with diabetic nephropathy were enrolled. Data from 36 patients (17 lisinopril and 19 atenolol, 60 +/- 7 years of age, 27 men) who completed at least 12 months of the study period are presented. At baseline, the two groups were comparable: glomerular filtration rate (51Cr-EDTA plasma clearance) was 75 +/- 6 and 74 +/- 8 ml x min(-1) x 1.73 m(-2), mean 24-h ambulatory blood pressure (A&D TM2420) was 110 +/- 3 and 114 +/- 2 mmHg, and 24-h urinary albumin excretion rate was 961 (range 331-5,727) and 1,578 (476-5,806) mg/24 h in the lisinopril and atenolol groups, respectively. The mean follow-up time was similar, 37 and 35 months in the lisinopril and atenolol groups, respectively. Mean ambulatory blood pressure was equally reduced in the two groups, 12 +/- 2 and 10 +/- 2 mmHg in the lisinopril and atenolol groups, respectively. Glomerular filtration rate declined in a biphasic manner with a faster initial (0 to 6 months) change of 1.25 +/- 0.49 and 0.81 +/- 0.29 ml x min(-1) x month(-1) followed by a slower sustained decline (6 to 42 months) of 0.59 +/- 0.10 and 0.54 +/- 0.13 ml x min(-1) x month(-1) in the lisinopril and atenolol groups, respectively. No significant differences were observed in either initial or sustained decline in glomerular filtration rate between the two groups. Urinary albumin excretion was reduced (% reduction of baseline) more in the lisinopril than in the atenolol group, at 55 (95% CI 29-72) and 15% (-13 to 34), respectively (P = 0.01). In conclusion, the relentless decline in kidney function characteristically found in hypertensive NIDDM patients with diabetic nephropathy can be reduced equally effectively by two antihypertensive treatments, the beta-blocker atenolol and the ACE inhibitor lisinopril.  相似文献

For some years now, the Nederlandse Taalunie (Dutch Language Union) has been active in promoting the development of human language technology (HLT) applications for speakers of Dutch with communicative disabilities. The reason is that HLT products and services may enable them to improve their communication skills and verbal autonomy. We sought to identify a minimum common set of HLT resources that is required to develop tools for a wide range of communication disabilities. In order to reach this goal, we investigated the specific needs of communicatively disabled people and related these needs to the underlying HLT software components. By analysing the availability and quality of these essential HLT resources, we were able to identify which of the crucial elements need further research and development to become usable for developing applications for communicatively disabled speakers of Dutch. The results obtained in the current survey can be used to inform policy institutions on how they can stimulate the development of HLT resources for this target group. In the current survey results were obtained for Dutch, but a similar approach can also be applied to other languages.  相似文献

Non-oxidative dehydroaromatization is arguably the most promising process for the direct upgrading of cheap and abundant methane to liquid hydrocarbons. This reaction has not been commercialized yet because of the suboptimal activity and swift deactivation of benchmark Mo-zeolite catalysts. This progress report represents an elaboration on the recent developments in understanding of zeolite-based catalytic materials for high-temperature non-oxidative dehydroaromatization of methane. It is specifically focused on recent studies, relevant to the materials chemistry and elucidating i) the structure of active species in working catalysts; ii) the complex molecular pathways underlying the mechanism of selective conversion of methane to benzene; iii) structure, evolution and role of coke species; and iv) process intensification strategies to improve the deactivation resistance and overall performance of the catalysts. Finally, unsolved challenges in this field of research are outlined and an outlook is provided on promising directions toward improving the activity, stability, and selectivity of methane dehydroaromatization catalysts.  相似文献

Adsorption of H2S and the influence of steam on its adsorption capacity and kinetics were studied on a commercial potassium-promoted hydrotalcite. The sorbent shows a very high cyclic working capacity for H2S compared to CO2 and H2O, even at lower partial pressures and at different operating temperatures ranging between 300 and 500 °C. The operating temperature does not significantly influence the cyclic working capacity for half-cycle times of 30 min. The adsorption mechanism, however, changes at higher temperatures. At lower temperatures (300 °C) a fast adsorption with a fast approach to steady state was observed. At higher operating temperatures, H2S reacts with the hydrotalcite structure, forming strongly bonded sulfuric species on the sorbent. When using dry regeneration conditions, the first cycles in cyclic operation at higher temperatures show a significantly higher adsorption of H2S (especially the first cycle), which cannot be desorbed during regeneration with N2. After the first fast initial adsorption rate a continuous slow adsorption of H2S occurs, probably caused by a surface reaction between H2S and the hydrotalcite structure. This reaction is, however, reversible if steam is used.The adsorption mechanism for H2S and H2O was determined using multiple cyclic experiments comparable to previous studies performed for CO2 and H2O adsorption. It is evident that the adsorption mechanism developed for CO2 on the same sorbents is also valid for H2S, indicating that the developed mechanism is consistent for sour gas adsorption on this type of sorbents. The cyclic working capacity can be significantly increased if steam is used during the regeneration step of the sorbent. The mechanistic model developed for the adsorption of CO2 and H2O was successfully validated with more than 160 different TGA experiments. An operating temperature of 400 °C seems to be optimal to achieve a high cyclic working capacity for H2S, because at higher temperatures the regeneration of the formed sulfuric species seems to be hindered resulting in a significant decrease in the cyclic working capacity.  相似文献

3Y-TZP (yttria-doped tetragonal zirconia) and CuO nano powders were prepared by co-precipitation and copper oxalate complexation–precipitation techniques, respectively. During sintering of powder compacts (8 mol% CuO-doped 3Y-TZP) of this two-phase system several solid-state reactions clearly influence densification behaviour. These reactions were analysed by several techniques like XPS, DSC/TGA and high-temperature XRD. A strong dissolution of CuO in the 3Y-TZP matrix occurs below 600 °C, resulting in significant enrichment of CuO in a 3Y-TZP grain-boundary layer with a thickness of several nanometres. This “transient” liquid phase strongly enhances densification. Around 860 °C a solid-state reaction between CuO and yttria as segregated to the 3Y-TZP grain boundaries occurs, forming Y2Cu2O5. This solid-state reaction induces the formation of the thermodynamic stable monoclinic zirconia phase. The formation of this solid phase also retards densification. Using this knowledge of microstructural development during sintering it was possible to obtain a dense nano–nano composite with a grain size of only 120 nm after sintering at 960 °C.  相似文献

Speakers are argued to adapt their language production to their addressee's needs. For instance, speakers produce fewer and smaller hand gestures when interlocutors cannot see each other. Yet is this because speakers know their addressee cannot see them, or because they themselves do not see their addressee? By means of computer‐mediated communication we manipulated these factors independently. We found that speakers took into account what their addressee saw. They produced more and larger gestures when they knew the addressee could see them. Seeing the addressee increased gesture production only if speakers could readily interpret the addressee's eye gaze, which is not usually the case in mediated interaction. Adding this affordance resulted in gesturing being similar in mediated and unmediated communication.  相似文献

The activation of a dimethylgallium/ZSM-5 precursor to well-defined reduced and oxidized species is studied by in situ Ga K edge XANES. The precursor is prepared by chemical implanting of trimethylgallium on acidic HZSM-5. Subsequent reduction leads to charge-compensating Ga+ species. Direct oxidation of the trimethylgallium precursor leads to various forms of gallium oxide and regeneration of Brønsted acid protons. Oxidation of the reduced Ga+ species yields predominantly to GaO+ species. The GaO+ species exhibit a much higher H2/D2 exchange activity than reduced Ga+ species.  相似文献

The surface damage to insulating barium alumino-silicate glass coatings due to irradiation by 100- and 250-keV deuterons and helium ions at room temperature and at 300° C has been studied. Blisters are observed after irradiation at room temperature with both deuterons and helium ions with energies of 100 keV and 250 keV. For deuteron irradiation a large fraction of the blisters have diameters which are approximately 3 to 5 times larger than the diameter observed with helium ions for identical irradiation conditions, but the density of blisters is nearly an order of magnitude lower. For irradiation at 300° C, no blisters are observed with either type of particle. The sharp rise in permeation rate with temperature is thought to be responsible for this behavior. The blister skin thicknesses have been measured and correlated with calculated projected-range values.  相似文献
