The effect of ancrod-induced defibrinogenation on thrombosis and bleeding time was determined in anesthetized rats. Functional plasma fibrinogen levels were reduced 42, 71, 94 and 93% by ancrod doses of 5, 10, 20 and 30 U/kg, respectively, while a 2.5 U/kg dose was without significant effect. Ancrod inhibited vena cava thrombosis induced by partial stasis of blood flow combined with mild vascular injury. Thrombus weight was decreased 85 and 93% by the 10 and 20 U/kg doses, but was unaffected at lower doses. In contrast, ancrod doses of up to 30 U/kg did not significantly decrease carotid artery thrombi formed in response to oxidative transmural vessel injury. Ancrod caused a dose-dependent increase in bleeding time measured by puncturing small mesenteric arteries with a hypodermic needle. The bleeding time increase was approximately 38% in response to the 2.5 and 5 U/kg doses, and 182% in response to the 10 U/kg dose. These studies demonstrate that ancrod-induced reductions in plasma fibrinogen more effectively inhibit venous compared to arterial thrombosis, although these activities require doses that also increase bleeding time in small arteries.  相似文献

The paper focuses on a control design for a vehicle suspension system in which a balance between different performance demands is achieved. The starting point of the control design is a full–car model which contains nonlinear components, i.e. the dynamics of the dampers and springs and nonlinear actuator dynamics. In order to handle the high complexity of the problem this paper proposes the design of a two‐level controller of an active suspension system. The required control force is computed by applying a high‐level controller, which is designed using a linear parameter varying (LPV) method. For the control design the model is augmented with weighting functions specified by the performance demands and the uncertainty assumptions. The actuator generating the necessary control force is modelled as a nonlinear system for which a low‐level force‐tracking controller is designed. To obtain the low‐level controller a backstepping method is proposed. As an alternative solution a feedback linearization method is also presented. One of the major survival challenges of premature birth is production of lung surfactant. The lipid component of surfactant, dipalmitoyl PC (DPPC), increases in concentration in the period before normal term birth via a net shift in FA composition away from unsaturates. We investigated the influence of dietary DHA and arachidonic acid (AA) on lung FA composition and DPPC concentration in term and preterm baboons. Pregnant animals/neonates were randomized to one of four groups: breast-fed (B), term formula-fed (T), preterm formulafed (P), and preterm fed formula supplemented with DHA-AA (P+). Breast milk contained 0.68%wt DHA and the P+ group formula contained 0.61%wt DHA. In the preterm groups (P and P+), pregnant females received a course of antenatal corticosteroids. At the adjusted age of 4 wk, neonate lung tissue was harvested, and FA composition and DPPC were analyzed. Palmitate was ∼28%wt of lung total FA and no significant differences were found among the four treatment groups. In contrast, DPPC in the B group lung tissue was significantly greater than DPPC in the unsupplemented groups, but not compared with the P+ group. The B and P+ groups were not significantly different in DHA and AA, but were different compared with the unsupplemented (T, P) groups. These results indicate that LCP supplementation increases lung DHA and AA, without compromising overall lung 16∶0 or DPPC. The shift in FA composition toward greater unsaturation in the groups consuming LCP supported improved surfactant lipid concentration in preterm neonate lungs.  相似文献

In this paper, a methodology based on the combination of time series modeling and soft computational methods is presented to model and forecast bathtub‐shaped failure rate data of newly marketed consumer electronics. The time‐dependent functions of historical failure rates are typified by parameters of an analytic model that grabs the most important characteristics of these curves. The proposed approach is also verified by the presentation of an industrial application brought along at an electrical repair service provider company. The prediction capability of the introduced methodology is compared with moving average‐based and exponential smoothing‐based forecasting methods. According to the results of comparison, the presented method can be considered as a viable alternative reliability prediction technique. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Regarding the development of nanoparticles for polymer matrix composites the particle/agglomerate size and particle/agglomerate distribution in the composites, respectively, is often crucial. This is exemplarily shown for, e.g. optical applications with measurements of refractive index and transmittance. Classical blending techniques, where nanoparticles are dispersed in polymers or resins, are compared to a combination of a special gas-phase synthesis method with subsequent in-situ deposition of nanoparticles in high-boiling liquids. The particles/agglomerates were characterized regarding particle size and particle size distribution using transmission electron microscopy and dynamic light scattering. Additionally, important material properties like mechanical properties, relevant for application, or like viscosity, relevant for processing, are determined. It is shown, that with in-situ dispersed nanoparticles synthesized in a microwave plasma process composites with finely dispersed particles/agglomerates are attainable.  相似文献

Controlled surface modification of the PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) was developed and studied in this work to develop autonomous capillary-driven microfluidic system to be applied in bioanalytical devices. The characteristics of the PDMS surfaces were modified by embedding adequate surfactant molecules in the polymer matrix to be moved onto the free surface by diffusion. The change of the surface characteristics was studied considering the expected performance in autonomous biomicrofluidic applications and the influence on non-specific human blood protein binding also. The method was evaluated from technological aspects also, as the integrability of the microfluidic system, considering the previously published results critically. Compositions were defined to be adequate for fabrication autonomous capillary system with enhanced transport efficiency and moderated non-specific protein adsorption.  相似文献

De Candolle analyzed in 1883 and 1885, respectively two important fields of human cultural evolution: the domestication of crop plants and the emergence of modern science. In hisHistoire de science et des savants depuis deux sciecles, principles were established, science indicators outlined, interactions examined and mathematical methods applied to the study of a selected data set related to scientific development. In order to compare national and international scientific communities twenty standard factors were considered and national participation in international scientific societies was analysed for 14 European countries and the United States.De Candolle was the first to analyse mathematically the number, dynamics and national distribution of scientists in their professional organisations, the specialization and professionalization of scientists and characterized the scientific potential of different countries with the number of international science society members per inhabitant per period (1750–1884). The role ofde Candolle as a forerunner of modern scientometrics and the science of science is revealed in a comparison of his work with recent trends. In the first five volumes of the journalScientometrics 51 papers were identified dealing with topics related to those dealt with byde Candolle.  相似文献

The basis of the examination is a clinical material of 14 years (from 1960 to 1973) of the urological clinic of the Medical University "Semmelweis", consisting of 160 patients with renal hypoplasia. In 116 of these cases a nephrectomy was performed. The average postoperative observation time was 7.8 years. By removal of the hypoplastic kidney the hypertension could be successfully influenced in 72% of the cases and in 16% moderately; in 12% of the patients the high blood pressure remained unchanged also after the intervention. On account of the recognition resulting from the examinations that by the hypoplastic kidney alone no increase of the blood pressure is caused, but the developmental anomaly forms a basis for the development of the hypertension, is emphasized that the early removal of this abnormally developed kidney is by all means indicated.  相似文献

The authors discuss the testing of periodic materials and structures via noise spectroscopy as an alternative to frequency sweep spectral analyzers, and the presented procedure employs the various advantages offered by a wide spectrum signal a Generally, noise spectroscopy tests are carried out to verify the behaviour of the response of periodic structures, and the related objective consists in recording the properties of microscopic structures in natural and artificial materials. The aim is to propose and verify a high-precision metrological method utilizable for the investigation of structures and materials in the frequency range between 100 MHz and 10 GHz; this paper therefore characterizes the design of a suitable measuring technique based on noise spectroscopy. In this context, the applied equipment is also shown to complement the underlying theoretical analysis.  相似文献
