Effect of pulse time gate on CsI(T1) light output

The mass and charge identification of secondary particles with Z < 4 by a large CsI(T1) scintillation detector is performed using pulse shape analysis and time-of-flight methods. The dependence of the light output on E, A and Z is studied in the energy range of 1–20 MeV/A and special attention is paid to the integration time of the photomultiplier anode signal. It is found that the behaviour of the calibration curves strongly depends on the choice of the integration time interval.     

Energy method of longevity calculation under an irregular loading. Report 2. Longevity under programmed block loading

A method of calculating longevity to macrocrack development under a programmed loading in the form of a block repeated many times to failure is proposed. Relationships are derived for calculation of longevity under blocks with stepwise variation in stress amplitude, and also blocks assigned by the probability-distribution density of the stress amplitudes and tables of the differential frequency of repetition of peak and average stresses. Consideration of variation in the material's endurance limit under an irregular cyclic loading is demonstrated. It is shown that a specific type of relationships can be derived for the material under investigation with allowance for its kinetic cyclic-strain diagrams. Method of calculating the endurance of specimens with a stress raiser. 2

Dependencies of theoretical values of the endurance of specimens with a stress raiser on the method of determining the theoretical stress concentration factor are normalized. A method is proposed of calculating the endurance of specimens with an allowance made for the gradient of actual stresses in the concentration zone up to the start of formation of a macroscopic fatigue crack. The actual stresses in cyclic elastoplastic loading were determined by the equivalent energy method. The calculated stresses are compared with experimental values.N. E. Calculation of stress and strain gradients in the concentration zone in cyclic elastoplastic deformation. 1

A method is proposed of calculating the gradients of true stresses and strains in the stress concentration zone in cyclic elastoplastic deformation of the material based on calculating the true stresses and strains in the stress concentration zone using approximate dependencies. The gradients of the true stresses, calculated using the method of equivalent energy and Neuber's method, are compared with the gradients of elastic stresses. It is shown that this also applies to other materials in which the gradients of the true stresses in cyclic elastoplastic deformation are considerably lower than the gradients of elastic stresses.N. Hydrometallurgical processes of antimony extraction from ores and concentrates

Data concerning the preparation of antimony and complex ores by pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical methods, as well as results on developing a procedure for the hydrometallurgical processing of slime antimony concentrates using chloride dealkalization, have been presented.     

Physicochemical Modeling and Modification of the Composition of Magmatic and Metamorphic Rocks: Basic Picrobasalts

Using picrobasalt from the Bulatovskoe occurrence (Arkhangelsk oblast) as an example, we analyze the feasibility of using methods developed at the Kurnakov Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences, for modifying the composition of magmatic and metamorphic rocks for mineral fiber fabrication and stone casting.     

Criteria for assessing technological properties of gabbro-basalt rocks

Various forms of the acidity coefficients and mineral compositions of gabbro-basalt raw materials from ten Russian deposits are calculated. These data are used to assess the physicochemical and technological properties of the rocks required for mineral fiber production and stone casting. Examples of the regulation of the mineral formation process during the melting and crystallization stages are presented.     

Wear resistance of coatings manufactured by electric spark plating with Al-Sn electrodes

The effect of the anomalously high wear of the quenched steel counterbody was found during the testing of coatings manufactured by electric spark plating (ESP) with an AlSn alloy (20 wt % Sn). The presence of SnO₂ nanofibers in the coating composition, which are formed during the ESP with an electrode tool made of this alloy, is assumed to be the main reason for the above effect.     

Recovery of valuable components from basalt waste by sintering it with sodium carbonate

The sintering of basalt waste with sodium carbonate at 1000–1200°C followed by leaching of the sinter with water, a NaOH solution, or hydrochloric acid is reported. The most effective leaching agent is hydrochloric acid, with which all of the valuable components of basalt pass into solution and silicon can be selectively separated as silicic acid.
