The mass and charge identification of secondary particles with Z < 4 by a large CsI(T1) scintillation detector is performed using pulse shape analysis and time-of-flight methods. The dependence of the light output on E, A and Z is studied in the energy range of 1–20 MeV/A and special attention is paid to the integration time of the photomultiplier anode signal. A method of calculating longevity to macrocrack development under a programmed loading in the form of a block repeated many times to failure is proposed. Relationships are derived for calculation of longevity under blocks with stepwise variation in stress amplitude, and also blocks assigned by the probability-distribution density of the stress amplitudes and tables of the differential frequency of repetition of peak and average stresses. Consideration of variation in the material's endurance limit under an irregular cyclic loading is demonstrated. It is shown that a specific type of relationships can be derived for the material under investigation with allowance for its kinetic cyclic-strain diagrams. Dependencies of theoretical values of the endurance of specimens with a stress raiser on the method of determining the theoretical stress concentration factor are normalized. A method is proposed of calculating the endurance of specimens with an allowance made for the gradient of actual stresses in the concentration zone up to the start of formation of a macroscopic fatigue crack. A method is proposed of calculating the gradients of true stresses and strains in the stress concentration zone in cyclic elastoplastic deformation of the material based on calculating the true stresses and strains in the stress concentration zone using approximate dependencies. The gradients of the true stresses, calculated using the method of equivalent energy and Neuber's method, are compared with the gradients of elastic stresses.
