We present a novel space-time patch-based method for image sequence restoration. We propose an adaptive statistical estimation framework based on the local analysis of the bias-variance trade-off. At each pixel, the space-time neighborhood is adapted to improve the performance of the proposed patch-based estimator. The proposed method is unsupervised and requires no motion estimation. Nevertheless, it can also be combined with motion estimation to cope with very large displacements due to camera motion. Experiments show that this method is able to drastically improve the quality of highly corrupted image sequences. Quantitative evaluations on standard artificially noise-corrupted image sequences demonstrate that our method outperforms other recent competitive methods. The Nightingallery project encouraged participants to converse, sing, and perform with a musically responsive animatronic bird, playfully interacting with the character while members of the public could look on and observe. We used Nightingallery to frame an HCI investigation into how people would engage with one another when confronted with unfamiliar technologies in conspicuously public, social spaces. Structuring performances as improvisational street theatre, we styled our method of exhibiting the bird character. We cast ourselves in supporting roles as carnival barkers and minders of the bird, presenting him as if he were a fantastical creature in a fairground sideshow display, allowing him the agency to shape and maintain dialogues with participants, and positioning him as the focal character upon which the encounter was centred. We explored how the anthropomorphic nature of the bird itself, along with the cultural connotations associated with the carnival/sideshow tradition helped signpost and entice participants through the trajectory of their encounters with the exhibit. Situating ourselves as secondary characters within the narrative defining the performance/use context, our methods of mediation, observation, and evaluation were integrated into the performance frame. In this paper, we explore recent HCI theories in mixed reality performance to reflect upon how genre-based cultural connotations can be used to frame trajectories of experience, and how manipulation of roles and agency in participatory performance can facilitate HCI investigation of social encounters with playful technologies.  相似文献

The authors present a real-time grass rendering technique that works for large, arbitrary terrains with dynamic lighting, shadows, and a good parallax effect. A novel combination of geometry and lit volume slices provides accurate, per-pixel lighting. We present a nonparametric regression method for denoising 3-D image sequences acquired via fluorescence microscopy. The proposed method exploits the redundancy of the 3-D+time information to improve the signal-to-noise ratio of images corrupted by Poisson-Gaussian noise. A variance stabilization transform is first applied to the image-data to remove the dependence between the mean and variance of intensity values. This preprocessing requires the knowledge of parameters related to the acquisition system, also estimated in our approach. In a second step, we propose an original statistical patch-based framework for noise reduction and preservation of space-time discontinuities. In our study, discontinuities are related to small moving spots with high velocity observed in fluorescence video-microscopy. The idea is to minimize an objective nonlocal energy functional involving spatio-temporal image patches. The minimizer has a simple form and is defined as the weighted average of input data taken in spatially-varying neighborhoods. The size of each neighborhood is optimized to improve the performance of the pointwise estimator. The performance of the algorithm (which requires no motion estimation) is then evaluated on both synthetic and real image sequences using qualitative and quantitative criteria.   相似文献

The release of proteins and membrane vesicles in the bloodstream regulates diverse vascular processes, both physiological, such as angiogenesis and haemostasis, and pathological, such as atherosclerosis and atherothrombosis. This paper introduces the use of sets of multiple networks (bundled networks) to manage the variability due to different initialization parameters. This method makes it statistically impossible for the networks to be trapped in the same local minimum, and therefore allows better control of the confidence of the prediction eventually given. The spread of the forecasts given by these different networks can be used for prediction reliability purposes. An illustration of this usage is given with the El Niño phenomenon.  相似文献

The total quantity (11.7 mg/kg of pulp) of aglycones released by enzymatic hydrolysis of the glycosidic extract indicates a significant aroma potential for cupuacu. Among the 47 aglycones identified, 24 are not present in the free volatile fraction, among them, 4-methylguaiacol, 4-propylguaiacol, 2,6-dimethyl-octa-1,7-dien-3,6-diol, 2,6-dimethyl-oct-7-en-1,6-diol, homovanillic acid, 2-methyl-but-3-en-1-ol and acetic acid. The quantitatively most important aglycones are 3-methyl-butan-1-ol, 2-phenylethanol, linalol, (Z)-2,6-dimethyl-octa-2,7-dien-1,6-diol, butan-1-ol and hexan-1-ol. The methylated alditol acetates analysis of monosaccharides released by acid hydrolysis of the heterosidic extract, indicates that glucose is involved in glucosidic and glycosidic structures. Moreover, rhamnopyranose and xylopyranose units, bound in the terminal position, suggest the presence of rutinosides and small amounts of primeverosides. Six glucosides, hexyl, benzyl, 2-phenylethyl, (R) and (S)-linalyl and geranyl β- -glucopyranosides, five rutinosides, benzyl, (R) and (S)-linalyl, -terpineyl and 2-phenylethyl rutinosides and 3-methyl-but-2-enyl vicianoside were identified by GC–EIMS after TFA derivatization of the crude heterosidic fraction. Moreover, four linalol oxides, octyl, 3-methyl-butyl β- -glucopyranosides and hexyl, octyl, two linalol oxides and 3-methyl-butyl rutinosides, have been tentatively identified from their TFA mass spectra. Some glucosides are probably substituted by malonyl and unidentified acyl residues.  相似文献

This paper describes the effect of geometry in charge-trap (CT) memory devices. We first theoretically analyze the impact of the curvature radius on the behavior of the gate current in Gate-All-Around devices, and then describe the change to make to planar model in order to fit the cylindrical devices characteristics. This model is used to simulate Nanocrystal and SONOS program, erase and retention behaviors. The dynamics enhancement during program/erase due to the bending of the active region in such cylindrical devices is explained. The scaling perspectives conclude this paper.  相似文献

Patas monkeys were twice immunized with a Schistosoma haematobium-derived recombinant glutathione S-transferase (Sh28GST) then challenged with an homologous calibrated challenge. BCG and Freund's Complete Adjuvant (FCA) were used as adjuvants in two distinct protocols. Specific IgG and IgA antibody responses were intense and homogeneous in the animals receiving Sh28GST in the presence of FCA, whereas BCG could only induce moderate and heterogeneous antibody titres. No significant effect on worm burdens was evidenced 36 weeks post-infection in either group of Sh28GST-immunized animals compared to their matched controls receiving an irrelevant protein. Although not significant, 50% reductions in the numbers of eggs located in all tissues (FCA group) and in the urogenital system (BCG group) were noted. Moreover, the total number of excreted eggs was dramatically diminished by 60% and 77% in the BCG and FCA groups, respectively. These reductions reached 75% and 80% in the urines of vaccinated monkeys. Bladder pathology was also reduced in the animals displaying the lowest urinary egg excretions. There was no clear positive or negative correlate between antibody responses and individual levels of protection. Taken as a whole, our results show that Sh28GST was capable of significantly reducing S. haematobium worm fecundity in experimentally infected primates. Although FCA induced higher levels of protection, the efficacy of BCG as an adjuvant appeared sufficient to justify consideration of the future application of this new formulation as a vaccine against human urogenital schistosomosis.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Second- and third-generation chemotherapy protocols for the treatment of aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (NHL) have considerable, and age-related, toxic effects. In addition, they do not seem to prolong overall survival in comparison to standard CHOP chemotherapy. In this phase II study we investigated the feasibility and efficacy of the addition of etoposide to the conventional CHOP regimen. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Toxicity and clinical efficacy were determined in 132 patients with previously untreated high-grade NHL. There were 51 patients in clinical stage I and II and 81 patients in stage III and IV, with a median age of 54 years (range 17-85). Patients received standard-dose CHOP plus etoposide 100 mg/m2 i.v. on day 1 and 200 mg/m2 p.o. on days 2-3. RESULTS: The overall response rate was 84%, with 70% complete and 14% partial responses. The predicted three- and five-year survivals for the group as a whole were 60% and 53%, respectively, and the corresponding disease-free survivals for patients achieving complete remissions were 65% and 56%, respectively. Outcome was not different from that of CHOP-treated patients in a recently completed Nordic study performed during the same time period. Myelosuppression (WHO grade 3-4), observed in 87% of patients and infectious complications (WHO grade 3-4) in 33%, dominated the toxicity profile of this regimen. Fifty-seven of 92 complete responders (62%) received 6-8 CHOP-E cycles with no reductions in planned dose intensity. LDH level higher than normal, extranodal sites = 2, stage III-IV at diagnosis were all indicators of a poor survival. CONCLUSIONS: We conclude that CHOP-E treatment is effective in high-grade NHL. However, mainly due to severe myelosuppression frequent schedule modifications were required and the results are not obviously superior to those of conventional CHOP.  相似文献
