Quantitative and qualitative microbiological examination was carried out on cloacal and oviductal contents pre- and postinfection with Salmonella enteritidis (SE) intracloacally or intravaginally. Before inoculation with SE, the means +/- standard deviation (SD) of total bacterial counts, anaerobic bacterial counts, and aerobic bacterial counts in the cloaca were log10 7.7 +/- 0.7, 7.4 +/- 0.2, and 6.9 +/- 0.8 colony-forming units (CFU)/g, respectively. The predominant bacteria were Bacteroidaceae, Lactobacillus, and Escherichia coli. Before inoculation with SE, the means +/- SD of total bacterial counts, anaerobic bacterial counts, and aerobic bacterial counts in the vagina were log10 5.7 +/- 1.4, 5.5 +/- 1.3, and 3.6 +/- 2.7 CFU/g, respectively. Bacteroidaceae and Lactobacillus were predominant. Following inoculation with SE, only the cloacal population of Lactobacillus in hens inoculated intracloacally was significantly increased compared to that before the inoculation. Other indigenous microflora were stable even after the inoculation. In the uterus, very few bacteria, Lactobacillus and Staphylococcus, were isolated. Five of 20 eggs (25%) from hens inoculated with SE intravaginally were positive for SE, whereas no SE was recovered from 22 eggs in hens inoculated with SE intracloacally. SE was recovered from the uterus after intravaginal inoculation with SE and from the vagina after intracloacal inoculation with SE. Contamination may ascend from the cloaca into the lower parts of the oviduct and subsequently contaminated eggs may occur.  相似文献

The main goal of our study is to prepare and to understand the properties of cubic SiC nanowires (NWs) and to characterize its native silicon dioxide. The wires, with diameters ranging from 10 nm to 2 μm, have been prepared by a CVD process on Si (0 0 1) substrates, using CO as the carbon source and Ni as the catalyst. A structural and optical analysis, by means of TEM, micro-Raman and cathodoluminescence (CL) spectroscopy, has been performed. Two sets of samples have been studied, labelled A and B, which differ for growth process conditions. Set A showed two broad CL peaks. Set B showed a much weaker CL emission. This difference has been explained by means of TEM investigation and micro-Raman spectra: set A shows a thick amorphous silicon dioxide layer on the wire surface, whereas set B shows a thin or absent oxide layer. Consequently, the nature of the CL emission has to be ascribed mainly to oxide-related recombination.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A reversible isothermal phase transition between the liquid and solid states in response to light irradiation was achieved in side chain-type azobenzene polymers. These materials can be used as adhesives that are detachable without applying any mechanical and thermal stress but also repeatedly reworkable because of their photoinduced liquefaction and solidification properties. The adhesive strength to glass plates was more than 3 MPa in single lap shear tests. This value is three times higher than previously reported and is sufficiently strong for glass substrates.  相似文献

High-speed complex full-range Fourier domain optical coherence tomography (FD-OCT) is demonstrated. In this FD-OCT, the phase modulation of a reference beam (M scan) and transversal scanning (B scan) are simultaneously performed. The Fourier transform method is applied along the direction of the B scan to reconstruct complex spectra, and the complex spectra comprise a full-range OCT image. Because of this simultaneous B-M-mode scan, the FD-OCT requires only a single A scan for each single transversal position to obtain a full-range FD-OCT image. A simple but slow version of the FD-OCT visualizes the cross section of a plastic plate. A modified fast version of this FD-OCT investigates a sweat duct in a finger pad in vivo and visualizes it with an acquisition time of 27 ms.  相似文献

Deformation and fracture mechanisms of ultrathin Si nanowires (NWs), with diameters of down to ~9 nm, under uniaxial tension and bending were investigated by using in situ transmission electron microscopy and molecular dynamics simulations. It was revealed that the mechanical behavior of Si NWs had been closely related to the wire diameter, loading conditions, and stress states. Under tension, Si NWs deformed elastically until abrupt brittle fracture. The tensile strength showed a clear size dependence, and the greatest strength was up to 11.3 GPa. In contrast, under bending, the Si NWs demonstrated considerable plasticity. Under a bending strain of <14%, they could repeatedly be bent without cracking along with a crystalline-to-amorphous phase transition. Under a larger strain of >20%, the cracks nucleated on the tensed side and propagated from the wire surface, whereas on the compressed side a plastic deformation took place because of dislocation activities and an amorphous transition.  相似文献

Lymphocytes expressing CD3, CD4, CD8, pan lymphocyte, IgA, IgG and IgM cell surface antigens were assessed by in the spleen and thymus of chickens following infection with Salmonella enteritidis using flow cytometric analysis. At 6 days post primary infection and 2 days post secondary infection with S. enteritidis, the percentages of IgA+ and IgM+ lymphocytes in the spleen were significantly increased (P < 0.05). At 2 days post secondary infection with S. enteritidis, the percentage of CD4+ T lymphocyte in the spleen and CD8+ T lymphocyte percentage in the thymus were significantly increased (P < 0.05). These results indicate that S. enteritidis infection induces changes in the spleen and thymus that reflect the dynamics of the host protective immune response.  相似文献

The involvement of increased brain tissue CO2 tension in acetazolamide-induced brain acidosis was investigated by comparing the brain pH response to acetazolamide with that to hypercapnia. CO2 and pH sensors were placed bilaterally into cerebral white matter to 15 mm depth in cats. Group 1 cats (n = 9) breathed spontaneously, and in situ brain tissue PCO2, and pH (PbCO2 and pHb) were measured after intravenous acetazolamide administration (20 mg/kg). Group 2 cats (n = 9) were paralyzed and ventilated mechanically, and the changes of pHb were investigated by adjusting the ventilation to maintain the same Pbco2 values as in the acetazolamide-treated group. PbCO2 changes were not significantly different between the two groups. However, pHb responses were quite different: the fall in pHb was progressive in Group 1 but transient in Group 2. Brain acidosis after acetazolamide administration is not due to the rise in brain tissue CO2 tension.  相似文献

Reactivity and selectivity are discussed in terms of quadratic rate—equilibrium relationships for reaction series sharing a common intrinsic barrier, notably Marcus' equation. R.D. Levine's emphasis on such reactions as forming a “Brønsted Series” is suggested as a basis for defining “ideal” reactivity behavior. Ideal relationships between selectivity and reactivity and selectivity and equilibrium are derived based on reaction schemes drawing a formal distinction between reagent and substrate. In a simple Brønsted relationship, the reagent varies and the substrate is held constant. In an extended relationship, in which both substrate and reagent vary, the Brønsted series becomes a selectivity “network” or matrix characterized by direct and cross quadratic coefficients reflecting curvature of a free energy relationship and the dependence of selectivity upon rate or equilibrium respectively. In the ideal case, the quadratic coefficients are equal but, in practice, they generally differ. Inspection of the relevant reaction schemes shows that in evaluating the coefficients, there is greater cancellation of experimental and chemical scatter arising from non-systematic variations in reagent structure for the cross than the direct coefficient; this phenomenon accounts in part for the wider observation of reactivity—selectivity than non-linear free energy relationships. New measurements are reported for reactions of carboxylic acids with enolate and imine substrates. The results are combined with literature data and plotted as reactivity—selectivity and extended Brønsted relationships. The correlations are satisfactorily considered in the context of departures of real from ideal behaviour.  相似文献
