We summarise our experiences of a number of demonstrators and simulation experiments designed to test the feasibility of using artificial decision making agents in real-time domains, and comment on the significance of our results to autonomous artificial agent action patterns in markets. Our main hypothesis is that the use of norms can extend the capability of artificial decision makers beyond what is obtained from implementing individual utility maximizers in keeping with rational choice theory. 相似文献

Computational fluid dynamics analysis of the wake behind the MEXICO rotor in axial flow conditions

This paper presents a computational investigation of the wake of the MEXICO rotor. The compressible multi‐block solver of Liverpool University was employed, using a low‐Mach scheme to account for the low‐speed flow near the blade and in the wake. In this study, computations at wind speeds of 10, 15 and 24 m s ? 1 were performed, and the three components of the velocity were compared against experimental data around the rotor blade up to one and a half rotor diameters downstream. Overall, fair agreement was obtained with the computational fluid dynamics showing good vortex conservation near the blade. Vorticity values revealed discontinuities in the wake at approximately 70%R, where two different aerofoils with different zero‐lift angles are blended. The results suggest that all‐Mach schemes for compressible computational fluid dynamics methods can deliver good performance and accuracy over all wind speeds for flows around wind turbines, without the need to switch between incompressible and compressible flow methods. The cardenolide extracts from latex and aerial parts ofAsclepias fruticosa and ofDanaus plexippus reared onA. fruticosa orA. curassavica were purified by adsorption chromatography on silica gel. HPLC analysis on a C18 reverse-phase column with an acetonitrile-water gradient as mobile phase, separated 28 compounds with a UV spectrum typical forcardenolides. Afroside and gomphoside (major components), as well as calotropagenin, calotoxin, calotropin, calactin, uscharidin, uscharin, and voruscharin, occurred as single peaks in the profiles of latex and aerial plant parts ofA. fruticosa. Calactin and calotropin were the major cardenolides inDanaus plexippus reared onA. fruticosa orA. curassavica. Quantitative data obtained with digitoxin as internal standard showed that 1.3–1.5% of the leaf cardenolides were sequestered byDanaus plexippus in which levels of 70–80g cardenolide per butterfly were measured. The calotropin from the leaves was almost completely sequestered, and 10–13% of the calactin was stored by the butterfly, assuming that no conversion occurred in larval tissues.
