The present study was aimed to utilize low‐cost alumina (Al2O3) nanoparticles for improving the heat transfer behavior in an intercooler of two‐stage air compressor. Experimental investigation was carried out with three different volume concentrations of 0.5%, 0.75%, and 1.0% Al2O3/water nanofluids to assess the performance of the intercooler, that is, counterflow heat exchanger at different loads. Thermal properties such as thermal conductivity and overall heat transfer coefficient of nanofluid increased substantially with increasing concentration of Al2O3 nanoparticles. Specific heat capacity of nanofluids were lower than base water. The intercooler performance parameters such as effectiveness and efficiency improved appreciably with the employment of nanofluid. The efficiency increased by about 6.1% with maximum concentration of nanofluid, that is, 1% at 3‐bar compressor load. It is concluded from the study that high concentration of Al2O3 nanoparticles dispersion in water would offer better heat transfer performance of the intercooler. 相似文献

The aim of the research described in this paper is to gain a qualitative understanding of how cohesiveness relates to personality type, performance and adherence to a particular software engineering methodology (XP). A variety of research methods were employed including ethnographic methods, questionnaires and interviews. An online personality test based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) was used to ascertain the personality types, and questionnaires were used throughout the project to measure levels of cohesiveness. Examples of how the teams worked together throughout the project are described, and whether and how this relates to the personality types of the individual members. The results indicate that certain teams were found to work consistently well over the project due to homogeneity in personality type and others were found to be very cohesive due to a mixture of types. 相似文献

Bacteriophages can cause a significant economic loss for the dairy industry which uses lactic starter cultures to produce fermented dairy products including cheeses and yoghurt. Over the past 25 years, a number of different approaches have been explored and implemented to reduce the problems of bacteriophage infection in part through the development of bacteriophage resistant lactic acid starter culture strains. A strategy employing antisense RNA designed against essential bacteriophage replication functions has proven to be a unique system for engineering bacteriophage resistant Lactococcus lactis starter cultures. Resistance to a class of bacteriophages has been achieved, for example, by expression of an antisense RNA targeted against a conserved yet cryptic bacteriophage gene. This approach may prove useful for engineering a set of truly isogenic strains to be used in a starter culture rotation plan. 相似文献

The production of hydrogen and filamentous carbon by means of methane decomposition was investigated in a fixed-bed reactor using iron-based catalysts. The effect of the textural promoter and the addition of Mo as a dopant affects the catalysts performance substantially: iron catalyst prepared with Al2O3 showed slightly higher catalytic performance as compared to those prepared with MgO; Mo addition was found to improve the catalytic performance of the catalyst prepared with MgO, whereas in the catalyst prepared with Al2O3 displayed similar or slightly poorer results. Additionally, the influence of the catalyst reduction temperature, the reaction temperature and the space velocity on the hydrogen yield was thoroughly investigated. The study reveals that iron catalysts allow achieving high methane conversions at operating temperatures higher than 800 °C, yielding simultaneously carbon nanofilaments with interesting properties. Thus, at 900 °C reaction temperature and 1 l g−1cat h−1 space velocity, ca. 93 vol% hydrogen concentration was obtained, which corresponds to a methane conversion of 87%. Additionally, it was found that at temperatures higher than 700 °C, carbon co-product is deposited mainly as multi walled carbon nanotubes. Eph-related receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) have been implicated in intercellular communication during embryonic development. To elucidate their signal transduction pathways, we applied the yeast two-hybrid system. We could demonstrate that the carboxyl termini of the Eph-related RTKs EphA7, EphB2, EphB3, EphB5, and EphB6 interact with the PDZ domain of the ras-binding protein AF6. A mutational analysis revealed that six C-terminal residues of the receptors are involved in binding to the PDZ domain of AF6 in a sequence-specific fashion. Moreover, this PDZ domain also interacts with C-terminal sequences derived from other transmembrane receptors such as neurexins and the Notch ligand Jagged. In contrast to the association of EphB3 to the PDZ domain of AF6, the interaction with full-length AF6 clearly depends on the kinase activity of EphB3, suggesting a regulated mechanism for the PDZ-domain-mediated interaction. These data gave rise to the idea that the binding of AF6 to EphB3 occurs in a cooperative fashion because of synergistic effects involving different epitopes of both proteins. Moreover, in NIH 3T3 and NG108 cells endogenous AF6 is phosphorylated specifically by EphB3 and EphB2 in a ligand-dependent fashion. Our observations add the PDZ domain to the group of conserved protein modules such as Src-homology-2 (SH2) and phosphotyrosine-binding (PTB) domains that regulate signal transduction through their ability to mediate the interaction with RTKs. 相似文献
