Quantitative analysis of organochlorine pesticide residues in Chinese drugs

This paper reports the GC determination of 20 organochlorine pesticides in Chinese drugs Flos Ionicerae and Moluodan etc by the present method of Japan for determinaing pesticide residues. The results suggest that except Folium Isatidis, Radix Codonopsis and Sanqi Pian all accord with the for provisions pesticide residues in Japanese foodstuffs.     

Intracoronary infusion of E6010 has more potent thrombolytic activity than tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) in dogs: a higher plasma level of E6010 than t-PA causes potent thrombolytic activity

We examined the thrombolytic properties of a novel modified human tissue plasminogen activator (PA) (E6010), in which cysteine 84 is replaced by serine, and which has a prolonged biologic half-life (t1/2). We compared the thrombolytic efficacy of continuous intracoronary (i.c.) infusion of E6010 with that of recombinant human tissue PA (rt-PA) in a canine model with copper coil-induced 1-h-old coronary artery thrombi and also compared the relation between thrombolytic efficacy and plasma clearance represented by pharmacokinetic parameters of i.c.-infused E6010 and rt-PA. Sixty-minute E6010 and rt-PA i.c. infusions were compared. The thrombolytic effects of i.c.-infused E6010 and rt-PA, represented by time to reperfusion (TR), reperfusion rate at 60 min (RR), and reocclusion rates at 60 min after reperfusion (OR) were as follows. E6010: Dose 0.06, 0.15, 0.3 (mg/kg/h); TR 25 +/- 10, 15 +/- 10, 13 +/- 5 (min); RR 100, 100, 100 (%); and OR 0, 0, 17 (%), respectively. Recombinant t-PA: Dose 0.06, 0.15, 0.3 (mg/kg/h); TR 47 +/- 12, 18 +/- 17, 14 +/- 4 (min); RR 50, 75, 100 (%); and OR 100, 33, 33 (%), respectively. These findings indicate that E6010 has more potent thrombolytic activity than rt-PA.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)     

Titania NOx sensors for exhaust monitoring

Oxide semiconductors have been examined to develop NO_x sensors for exhaust monitoring. Titania doped with trivalent elements, such as Al³⁺, Sc³⁺, Ga³⁺ or In³⁺, has a good sensitivity and selectivity to NO between 450 and 550 °C, and shows rapid response. A sensor probe for monitoring exhaust NO_x has been fabricated. Many kinds of interference gases, such as C₃H₆, CO and SO₂, have been found to have only a slight influence on the sensor response to NO. The influence of O₂ and H₂O is also negligible, except for the cases of 0% H₂O and fuel-rich conditions. In accordance with these results, the sensor probe operates satisfactority in the exhaust gas of various combustion conditions without interference from the various kinds of gas species in the exhaust gases.     

Behavioral and electroantennogram responses of periplanone analogs

The biological activities of synthetic periplanone analogs, including four candidates of periplanone-A (P-A), were evaluated by behavioral and electroantennogram (EAG) assays. Among 16 periplanone analogs, six compounds evoked pheromonal activity from the male American cockroaches. The threshold dosages of these biological active analogs were 10–10⁵ times lower than that of the known periplanone mimic, germacrene-D. The conformation required for eliciting the pheromonal activity is discussed in terms of the structure-activity relationship of these analogs. Hauptmann's P-A elicited the strongest pheromonal activity among four candidates of P-A in our bioassay, suggesting that Hauptmann's P-A is a natural P-A produced from female cockroaches.     

工艺参数对陶瓷注射成型的影响与分析

本研究通过改变注射温度，注射压力，保压压力等几个主要参数，对形状，体积不同的注射成型体，试条，圆柱及子部件进行了一系列注射工艺实验。相应地对成型体的密度，弯曲强度及烧结体的密度和强度进行测量，并从陶瓷注射成型混合物的流动行为，热物理特性方面对注射这一复杂过程进行分析，探讨工艺参数对成型过程的内在影响，从而确定合理的注射工艺条件。     

Free primary alcohols in oils and waxes from germs,kernels and other components of nuts,seeds, fruits and cereals

The composition of free primary alcohols in oils and waxes obtained from the germ, kernel, seed coat, shell and skin (peel) of various nuts, seeds, fruits and cereals and from the chrysalis of silkworm was examined. These alcohols are usually present in small amounts, along with large quantities of hydrocarbons, esters and glycerides in oils and waxes. Thus, it is necessary to remove hydrocarbons, esters and glycerides to analyze the alcohols. We found that preparative reverse-phase thin-layer chromatography (TLC) was the best way to isolate alcohols from oils and waxes. Gas liquid chromatography (GLC) then detected hexacosanol, octacosanol and triacontanol in the oils and waxes. Octacosanol usually was the predominant alcohol. Relationships between the organs from nuts, seeds, fruits and cereals and the contents of octacosanol are suggested. For example, degermed kernels contained two times more octacosanol than the germ, and the skin coat and shell contained one-half and one-fortieth the octacosanol of the germ, respectively.     

Phase separation behavior and morphology development of phenolic resin/PMMA/hexamethylenetetrarnine blends

Summary In order to obtain materials with nanopores which will be applicable for many fields, the structures of the cured blends of phenolic resin (PhN), poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and curing agent were studied. After PMMA was extracted from cured blends, the structures of cured phenolic resins were observed with SEM. As a results, it was found that nanosized continuous pore structures were formed in extremely wide composition region if curing temperature was high.     

Role of electron-phonon interaction in lattice dynamics and superconductivity of oxide spinel LiTi2O4

The lattice dynamics of an oxide spinel LiTi₂O₄ is studied by taking account of the electron-phonon (EP) interaction derived on the basis of the realistic tight-binding bands fitted to the first-principles bands. Due to the characteristic dependences of the EP interaction on wavevectors and vibrational modes, a remarkable frequency renormalization of the O vibrational modes, which hybridize with the Ti vibrational modes, is obtained over a wide region of the Brillouin zone. The overall features of the calculated phonon density of states are in agreement with those observed by the inelastic neutron scattering measurements. By using the EP interaction and the renormalized phonon frequencies we have calculated the EP spectral function ² F(). The superconducting transition temperature, gap function, and tunneling spectra are calculated by solving the Éliashberg equation. The results agree well with the observations.     

Detection of environmental changes from network structure

We studied the networks of the temperature record in the atmosphere. They are made by the strength of the synchronization, including the delay between temperatures at locations on Earth. We consider these locations as nodes, and we consider a pair of locations as a link if the synchronization between them is stronger than a threshold. The network is scale-free, which is thought to contribute to the stability of the climate. Redefining the Diamond Cutting Edge: A Technique that Complements Nano-Metric Surface Generation

Ongoing developments in broadband digital networks and optical devices require mechanical components having nano-metric surface finishes and ultra precision shapes. Such components are processed using the technology of diamond micro-machining in which diamond tools are extensively used. However, these tools are susceptible to chemical attack at high temperatures and induce severe wear, especially when cutting ferrous materials. As a result, these diamond tools need to be redefined (i.e., resharpened) on a regular basis in order to facilitate micro-cutting and to generate nano-metric surface finishes. This paper describes a new way of diamond tool edge re-sharpening and its conditions to achieve both increased accuracy and material removal rate.
