Biofuel supply chain design plays a critical role in facilitating the large‐scale substitution of biofuel for traditional fossil fuels with a cost‐effective and environmentally friendly manner towards sustainability. This paper proposes a multiobjective optimization model for a 4‐layer biofuel supply chain network using mixed integer nonlinear programming while considering the benefits from economic, environmental, and societal aspects. The model can be used either to optimize an existing biofuel supply chain network or to guide the construction of a new biofuel supply chain network. The profit, the greenhouse gas emissions in transportation, and the market share of biofuel were set as targets for optimization. The selection of the participators at each layer, and the amount of the material flow between each pair of selected supplier and customer located at two adjacent layers were modeled as decision variables. The conventional weighted aggregation method was used to unify 3 objectives after normalization. Particle swarm optimization was used to solve this high‐dimension multiobjective problem to obtain a near optimal solution. A numerical case study based on the state of Missouri in the United States was implemented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed model. The results of the case study illustrate that the benefits in terms of transportation emission, profit, and market share can be achieved simultaneously. Using the equal weights configuration in conventional weighted aggregation as an example, a 21% reduction of the transportation emission, a 33% increase of the profit, and a 2% augmentation of the market share were achieved compared to the benchmark scenario.  相似文献

Dendrimers are novel three dimensional, hyperbranched globular nanopolymeric architectures. Attractive features like nanoscopic size, narrow polydispersity index, excellent control over molecular structure, availability of multiple functional groups at the periphery and cavities in the interior distinguish them amongst the available polymers. Applications of dendrimers in a large variety of fields have been explored. Drug delivery scientists are especially enthusiastic about possible utility of dendrimers as drug delivery tool. Terminal functionalities provide a platform for conjugation of the drug and targeting moieties. In addition, these peripheral functional groups can be employed to tailor-make the properties of dendrimers, enhancing their versatility. The present review highlights the contribution of dendrimers in the field of nanotechnology with intent to aid the researchers in exploring dendrimers in the field of drug delivery.  相似文献

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory disease of the central nervous system that finally leads to demyelination. Demyelinating optic neuritis is a frequent symptom in MS. Recent studies also revealed synapse dysfunctions in MS patients and MS mouse models. We previously reported alterations of photoreceptor ribbon synapses in the experimental auto-immune encephalomyelitis (EAE) mouse model of MS. In the present study, we found that the previously observed decreased imunosignals of photoreceptor ribbons in early EAE resulted from a decrease in synaptic ribbon size, whereas the number/density of ribbons in photoreceptor synapses remained unchanged. Smaller photoreceptor ribbons are associated with fewer docked and ribbon-associated vesicles. At a functional level, depolarization-evoked exocytosis as monitored by optical recording was diminished even as early as on day 7 after EAE induction. Moreover compensatory, post-depolarization endocytosis was decreased. Decreased post-depolarization endocytosis in early EAE correlated with diminished synaptic enrichment of dynamin3. In contrast, basal endocytosis in photoreceptor synapses of resting non-depolarized retinal slices was increased in early EAE. Increased basal endocytosis correlated with increased de-phosphorylation of dynamin1. Thus, multiple endocytic pathways in photoreceptor synapse are differentially affected in early EAE and likely contribute to the observed synapse pathology in early EAE.  相似文献

Abstract

The present study documents the fabrication and characterization of a topically applicable gel loaded with nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) of adapalene (ADA) and vitamin C (ascorbyl-6-palmitate [AP]). The NLCs were prepared by high pressure homogenization (HPH) method followed by incorporation into AP loaded gel. The fabricated system was characterized for size, poly dispersity index, entrapment efficiency (EE) and in vitro drug release properties, and was further investigated for skin compliance, skin transport characteristics (skin permeation and bio-distribution), rheological behavior, texture profile analysis and anti-acne therapeutic potential against testosterone-induced acne in male Wistar rats. The NLC-based formulation improved targeting of the skin epidermal layer and reducing systemic penetration. The co-administration of vitamin C led to an adjunct effect in acne therapy in physiological conditions. In brief, the present results suggest the potential of NLCs as a novel carrier for the dermal delivery of ADA and also the synergistic effect of vitamin C in topical therapeutics.  相似文献

Objective: To compare various solubilizing agents for their solubilizing propensity as well as effect of pH, concentration and time on solubility of a highly hydrophobic drug.

Materials and methods: Dendrimers were synthesized by divergent method. Solubilization studies were carried out at different pH, concentration and time using Paclitaxel (PTX) as model drug. Hemolytic toxicity study was also performed.

Results: The solubility of PTX was increased with increasing concentration of solubilizing agents and the order of solubility enhancement effect of different solubilizing agents was found to be in the following order: fifth generation (5.0?G) poly(propylene imine) (PPI) dendrimers?>?β-CD?>?Tween 80?>?polyethylene glycol 6000. The solubility of PTX was found to be highest at pH 5.0 followed by pH 7.4 than pH 9.2. The result of hemolytic toxicity studies displayed that when these solubilizing agents are given in combination with PTX, the toxicity was found to be reduced as compare to plain drug.

Conclusions: The solubility of PTX was found to be significantly higher in the presence of 5.0?G PPI dendrimers as compared to the other solubilizing agents. It is also concluded that 5.0?G PPI dendrimers not only enhanced the solubility of PTX many folds but also reduced the toxicity of PTX.  相似文献

Vanadium(IV) oxido complex of 1-Phenyl-1,3-butanedione [VIVO(bzac)2] (1) was prepared, characterized, and heterogenized onto APTMS modified graphene oxide, as well as imidazole modified polystyrene beads. Graphene oxide supported complex GO-APTMS-[VIVO(bzac)2] (2) and polymer anchored complex PS-im-[VIVO(bzac)2] (3) were used for the oxidative bromination of a number of small organic molecules and oxidation of a series of thioethers. Both 2 and 3 evolve as excellent heterogeneous catalysts. The nature of solid support does not impact substrate conversion (%) during the oxidative bromination of salicylaldehyde, phenol, or styrene, whereas it influences the substrate conversion (%) as well as the product selectivity (%) during the oxidation of thioethers.

An amyloid-β inspired biocompatible short peptide amphiphile (sPA) molecule was used for controlled and targeted delivery of bioactive silver nanoparticles via transforming sPA nanostructures. Such sPA-AgNPs hybrid structures can be further used to develop antibacterial materials to combat emerging bacterial resistance. Due to the excellent antibacterial activity of silver, the growth of clinically relevant bacteria was inhibited in the presence of AgNPs-sPA hybrids. Bacterial tests demonstrated that the high biocompatibility and low cytotoxicity of the designed sPA allow it to work as a model drug delivery agent. It therefore shows great potential in locally addressing bacterial infections. The results of our study suggest that these nanodevices have the potential to trap and then engage in the facile delivery of their chemical payload at the target site, thereby working as potential delivery materials. This system has potential therapeutic value for the treatment of microbiota triggered progression of neurodegenerative diseases.  相似文献

The microbiota-gut-brain axis (GBA) plays a critical role in the development of neurodegenerative diseases. Dysbiosis of the intestinal microbiome causes a significant alteration in the gut microbiota of Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients, followed by neuroinflammatory processes. Thus, AD beginning in the gut is closely related to an imbalance in gut microbiota, and hence a multidomain approach to reduce this imbalance by exerting positive effects on the gut microbiota is needed. In one example, a tyrosine-based short peptide amphiphile (sPA) was used to synthesize antibacterial AgNPs−sPA nanostructures. Such nanostructures showed high biocompatibility and low cytotoxicity, and therefore work as model drug delivery agents for addressing local bacterial infections. These may have therapeutic value for the treatment of microbiota-triggered progression of neurodegenerative diseases.  相似文献
