Traditional economic evaluation methods concentrate on maximizing or minimizing a single objective such as net present value and pay back period. In the last decade, there has been an increased awareness of the need to consider multiple attributes in the evaluation of advanced manufacturing systems. Various methods have recently been developed for the evaluation of CIM systems. In this study, Pd/Al2O3 and Pd/BaO/Al2O3 metallic monoliths were used to investigate the effect of BaO in C2H4 and CO oxidation as well as in NO reduction. A FT-IR gas analyser was used to study the activity of the catalysts. Several activity experiments carried out with dissimilar feedstreams revealed that BaO enhances CO and C2H4 oxidation as well as NO reduction reactions in rich conditions. This effect is due to BaO, which causes a decrease in the ethene poisoning of palladium. In lean conditions BaO is present in the form of Ba(OH)2 which reacts with oxidised NO releasing water. Therefore, NO was stored during the lean reaction.  相似文献

Our objective in this work is to study the HF etching chemical treatment effect on the mechanical and optical properties of soda-lime glass eroded with 200 g fixed sand mass. We followed the evolution of these properties in relation to the chemical attack duration.The results show a clear improvement of the measured properties. The strength of the eroded samples is 44.23 ± 0.91 MPa. It increases up to 57.73 ± 1.76 MPa after 15 min of treatment and reaches 181.43 ± 23.69 MPa after 1 h. This last value is much higher than the as received glass strength (117.5 ± 10.48 MPa). The optical transmission of the eroded samples is about 18.5%. During the first 2 min of the chemical treatment, an important drop of the optical transmission (12%) was observed. However, improvement of the transmission was achieved for longer chemical treatment durations. After 8 h of treatment, the optical transmission increases up to 57%. Microscopic observations show that the HF attack causes the opening and the blunting of the surface cracks. In general, the surface state is improved during the chemical treatment.  相似文献

The potential of using actin bundles for the transport of liposomes and single cells across myosin-coated surfaces is investigated. Compared to that observed with filamentous actin, the liposome transport using actin bundles was more linear in nature and able to occur over longer distances. Bundles, but not filamentous actin, were capable of moving single cells. Cargo unloading from bundles was achieved by incubation with Triton X-100. These data suggest that actin bundling may improve the ability of the myosin motor system for nanotransport applications.  相似文献

We present the results of an investigation of particle motion behind the advancing free surface during the filling of an initially empty tube with a viscoelastic fluid. Particle motion in the vicinity of an advancing free surface (the fountain flow region) is of significance in a number of processes used to form composite materials, notably injection and compression molding. This motion determines, to a large extent, the distribution of the reinforcing phase in the molded part. We show experimentally that an isolated spherical particle moves behind the interface in characteristic orbits, remaining in close proximity to the advancing free surface. This is in stark contrast to what happens in a Newtonian fluid. In that case, the particle is deposited on the tube walls by the fountain flow and never again reaches the faster moving free surface. The particle motion behind the interface is modeled with a combination of equations that describe the advection of the particle due to convective/fountain flow and its lateral migration due to viscoelasticity. This model neglects the finite size of the particle and is thus unable to capture the full details of the observed motion. However, the qualitative agreement between the experimental results and the modeling predictions suggests that the observed particle motion is the result of the combined effect of viscoelasticity and fountain flow.  相似文献

The aim of this work was the analysis of the experimental results of a transparent alumina (BMA15) ceramic which was fabricated by Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) from nanopowder (BMA15, Baikowski Chimie, France), at different temperatures (1200°C, 1250°C, 1300°C). With the application of a maximum uniaxial pressure of 73 MPa during all the fabrication-cycle (more than 3 hours). We sought an optimal sintering temperature combining better optical and mechanical properties of our pellets. The sintered alumina (BMA15) has a crystalline and dense microstructure. The samples sintered at 1200°C exhibit the best optical properties, in particular: good real inline transmission (RIT) and an optical gap greater than those of the samples sintered at 1250°C and 1300°C. Due to their low density, the Young modulus of alumina sintered at 1200 °C, deduced by ultrasound, has a low value which is about 385 GPa. Similarly, its small grain size gives it a better Vickers hardness ~ 21 GPa. Therefore, the value of the coefficient of friction μ stabilizes around the mean value of 0.21.  相似文献

A refractory material was elaborated from kaolin extracted from the region of Djebel Debbagh (Algeria). Kaolin grog was obtained by calcination at a temperature of 1350 °C during 1 h. It was used as aggregates with granulometric distribution composed of fine fraction (mean grain size: 100–250 μm) and coarse fraction (mean grain size: 1000–2500 μm). Crude kaolin (size < 75 μm) was also used as a binder with an amount representing 15% of the dry material. After a 9.28% moistening and a rotting of 1 day, cylindrical samples were shaped by uniaxial pressure at 80 MPa. The samples were submitted to a natural drying during 24 h, a stoving at 100 °C and a calcination at 600 °C during 1 h. They were fired at high temperatures between 1250 and 1450 °C.

An X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed that the refractory samples are composed of mullite and silica. Silica is a mixture of a vitreous phase and cristobalite at 1300, 1350 and 1400 °C and becomes completely amorphous when the samples are fired at higher temperature (1450 °C). The sample porosity is about 30%. The mechanical tests carried out as a function of temperature revealed different behaviours of the material. From the ambient up to 600 °C, the refractory behaviour is pseudo-plastic caused by micro-cracking. Between 700 and 900 °C, the samples become more rigid. At 1000 °C, the material exhibits a visco-plastic behaviour. The amorphous phase governs the sample properties variation with temperature increasing. Its content varies between 28% and 34% according to the firing temperature. Thermal shock tests realized in water showed that the refractory samples present good thermal shock resistance.  相似文献

It has been hypothesized that a deficit in serotonin may be a crucial determinant in the pathophysiology of major depression. Serotonin-1A receptors are located on serotonin cell bodies in the midbrain dorsal raphe (DR) nucleus, and the activation of these receptors inhibits the firing of serotonin neurons and diminishes the release of this neurotransmitter in the prefrontal cortex. Repeated treatment with some antidepressant medications desensitizes serotonin-1A receptors in the rat midbrain. The present study determined whether the binding of [3H]8-hydroxy-2-(di-n-propyl)aminotetralin (8-OH-DPAT), an agonist at serotonin-1A receptors, is altered in the midbrain of suicide victims with major depression. Radiolabeling of the serotonin-1A receptor in the DR varied significantly along the rostral-to-caudal extent of the human midbrain. The binding of [3H]8-OH-DPAT to serotonin-1A receptors was increased significantly in the midbrain DR of suicide victims with major depression as compared with psychiatrically normal control subjects. In suicide victims with major depression, the increase in the binding of [3H]8-OH-DPAT to serotonin-1A receptors was detected in the entire DR and specifically localized to the dorsal and ventrolateral subnuclei. Enhanced radioligand binding of an agonist to inhibitory serotonin-1A autoreceptors in the human DR provides pharmacological evidence to support the hypothesis of diminished activity of serotonin neurons in suicide victims with major depression.  相似文献

This article discusses a model intelligence technique called proactive modeling. The goal of proactive modeling is to reduce the amount of manual modeling required when using a graphical DSML and to assist in step-by-step creation of a model. Proactive modeling accomplishes this goal by examining the metamodels syntax and constraints, automatically executing model modifications, and prompting the modeler for assistance when more than one valid model modification exists, but none are necessary. We have integrated proactive modeling into the generic modeling environment (GME) as a generic add-on that can operate on any domain-specific modeling language implemented in GME. Lastly, results from applying proactive modeling to several DSMLs in GME show that it can reduce modeling effort.  相似文献
