Energy games belong to a class of turn-based two-player infinite-duration games played on a weighted directed graph. It is one of the rare and intriguing combinatorial problems that lie in NPco-NP, but are not known to be in P. The existence of polynomial-time algorithms has been a major open problem for decades and apart from pseudopolynomial algorithms there is no algorithm that solves any non-trivial subclass in polynomial time. In this paper, we give several results based on the weight structures of the graph. First, we identify a notion of penalty and present a polynomial-time algorithm when the penalty is large. Our algorithm is the first polynomial-time algorithm on a large class of weighted graphs. It includes several worst-case instances on which previous algorithms, such as value iteration and random facet algorithms, require at least sub-exponential time. Our main technique is developing the first non-trivial approximation algorithm and showing how to convert it to an exact algorithm. Moreover, we show that in a practical case in verification where weights are clustered around a constant number of values, the energy game problem can be solved in polynomial time. We also show that the problem is still as hard as in general when the clique-width is bounded or the graph is strongly ergodic, suggesting that restricting the graph structure does not necessarily help.  相似文献

Systems should not only be correct but also robust in the sense that they behave reasonably in unexpected situations. This article addresses synthesis of robust reactive systems from temporal specifications. Existing methods allow arbitrary behavior if assumptions in the specification are violated. To overcome this, we define two robustness notions, combine them, and show how to enforce them in synthesis. The first notion applies to safety properties: If safety assumptions are violated temporarily, we require that the system recovers to normal operation with as few errors as possible. The second notion requires that, if liveness assumptions are violated, as many guarantees as possible should be fulfilled nevertheless. We present a synthesis procedure achieving this for the important class of GR(1) specifications, and establish complexity bounds. We also present an implementation of a special case of robustness, and show experimental results.  相似文献

Sustainable development has become one of the leading global issues over the period of time. Currently, implementation of sustainability in supply chain has been continuously in center of attention due to introducing stringent legislations regarding environmental pollution by various governments and increasing stakeholders’ concerns toward social injustice. Unfortunately, literature is still scarce on studies considering all three dimensions (economical, environmental and social) of sustainability for the supply chain. An effective supply chain network design (SCND) is very important to implement sustainability in supply chain. This study proposes an uncertain SCND model that minimizes the total supply chain-oriented cost and determines the opening of plants, warehouses and flow of materials across the supply chain network by considering various carbon emissions and social factors. In this study, a new AHP and fuzzy TOPSIS-based methodology is proposed to transform qualitative social factors into quantitative social index, which is subsequently used in chance-constrained SCND model with an aim at reducing negative social impact. Further, the carbon emission of supply chain is estimated by considering a composite emission that consists of raw material, production, transportation and handling emissions. In the model, a carbon emission cap is imposed on total supply chain to reduce the carbon footprint of supply chain. To solve the proposed model, a code is developed in AMPL software using a nonlinear solver SNOPT. The applicability of the proposed model is illustrated with a numerical example. The sensitivity analysis examines the effects of reducing carbon footprint cap, negative social impacts and varying probability on the total cost of the supply chain. It is observed that a stricter carbon cap over supply chain network leads to opening of more plants across the supply chain. In addition, carbon footprint of supply chain is found to be decreased in certain extent with the reduction in negative social impacts from suppliers. The carbon footprint of the supply chain is found to be reduced with increasing certainty of material supply from the suppliers. The total supply chain cost is observed to be augmented with increasing probability.  相似文献

Materials such as Si3N4, SiC and SrTiO3 can have grain boundaries characterized by the presence of a thin intergranular amorphous film of nearly constant thickness, in some cases (e.g. Si3N4) almost independent of the orientation of the bounding grains, but dependent on the composition of the ceramic. Microscopy techniques such as high‐resolution lattice fringe imaging, Fresnel fringe imaging and diffuse dark field imaging have been applied to the study of intergranular glassy films. The theme of the current investigation is the use of Fresnel fringes and Fourier filtering for the measurement of the thickness of intergranular glassy films. Fresnel fringes hidden in high‐resolution micrographs can be used to objectively demarcate the glass–crystal interface and to measure the thickness of intergranular glassy films. Image line profiles obtained from Fourier filtering the high‐resolution micrographs can yield better estimates of the thickness. Using image simulation, various kinds of deviation from an ideal square‐well potential profile and their effects on the Fresnel image contrast are considered. A method is also put forth to objectively retrieve Fresnel fringe spacing data by Fourier filtering Fresnel contrast images. Difficulties arising from the use of the standard Fresnel fringe extrapolation technique are outlined and an alternative method for the measurement of the thickness of intergranular glassy films, based on zero‐defocus (in‐focus) Fresnel contrast images is suggested. The experimental work is from two ceramic systems: Lu‐Mg‐doped Si3N4 and SrTiO3 (stoichiometric and nonstoichiometric). Further, a comparison is made between the standard high‐resolution lattice fringe technique, the standard Fresnel fringe extrapolation technique and the methods of analyses introduced in the current work, to illustrate their utility and merits. Taking experimental difficulties into account, this work is intended to be a practical tool kit for the study of intergranular glassy films.  相似文献

In this paper a method of obtaining dead-beat response of third-order servo systems is described. It is shown that among the three state variables of the system, e.g. error, output velocity and output acceleration, the first two, following a step signal input, attain zero values simultaneously—for an instant for certain combinations in the system parameters. For such an initial adjustment of the parameters, the system response can be made dead-beat if the parameters are suitably controlled in a discrete manner from an instant of very small value of the error. A switching circuit is described for achieving the discrete control. Results of studies of a proposed third system simulated on the analogue computer are also given.  相似文献

In this report, we have demonstrated the photoluminescence quenching and energy transfer properties of semiconducting polymer nanoparticles, poly (N-vinylcarbazole) (PVK) in presence of different sized Au nanoparticles by steady state and time-resolved spectroscopy. We have described the quenching phenomena by sphere of action static quenching mechanism and both dynamic and static quenching processes are found in these systems. PL quenching values are 24· 22% and 57· 3% for 14?nm and 18?nm Au nanoparticles, respectively. It is found that the radiative and nonradiative decay have been modified with the size of Au nanoparticles. PL quenching and shortening of decay time regarding polymer nanoparticles in presence of Au nanoparticles suggest the nonradiative energy transfer process. The values of energy transfer are 6· 7%, 49· 5% and 53· 38% from PVK polymer nanoparticles to 3?nm, 14?nm and 18?nm Au nanoparticles, respectively. Using FRET and SET equations we have calculated the average distance of donor PVK polymer nanoparticles and acceptor Au nanoparticles.  相似文献

We summarize classical and recent results about two-player games played on graphs with ω-regular objectives. These games have applications in the verification and synthesis of reactive systems. Important distinctions are whether a graph game is turn-based or concurrent; deterministic or stochastic; zero-sum or not. ABSTRACT

The generalised process of designing distributed poly-phase armature windings by the technique of symmetrization offers special advantages in developing dedicated machines for operation with non-sinusoidal supplies.

Principles of symmetrization have been reviewed with special reference to 3-phase windings and important rules governing the applications of the process have been enumerated, both with reference to single-speed balanced and unbalanced windings as well as multi-speed windings.

Although such special windings in general, have wider harmonic spectra compared to standard designs, a judicious selection of symmetrised windings can, in fact prove beneficial in specific cases. The paper attempts to lay down the procedure for systematic design of 3-phase symmetrised windings.  相似文献

Microfluidics-based biochips are soon expected to revolutionize biosensing, clinical diagnostics and drug discovery. Robust off-line and on-line test techniques are required to ensure system dependability as these biochips are deployed for safety-critical applications. Due to the underlying mixed-technology and mixed-energy domains, biochips exhibit unique failure mechanisms and defects. We first relate some realistic defects to fault models and observable errors. We next set up an experiment to evaluate the manifestations of electrode-short faults. Motivated by the experimental results, we present a testing and diagnosis methodology to detect catastrophic faults and locate faulty regions. The proposed method is evaluated using a biochip performing real-life multiplexed bioassays.  相似文献
