Automated research system for studying fluidized bed hydrodynamics

The paper examines a computer appliance for carrying out automated fluidized-bed hydrodynamics researches. The researches are conducted in order to obtain empirical data for real-time diagnosis of bed state by the fluctuations of differential pressure of the reactor and fluidized-bed modeling.     

Optimum Control of a Crude Oil Processing Plant

The problem of optimum control of a crude oil processing plant is solved in terms of perturbation control using an on-line model instead of considering multiply connected deviation control with negative feedback loops. In the mathematical programming method used, all the free parameters are both control and optimization parameters (profit is taken to be the optimization criterion). Modeling and optimization are performed using the integrated modeling program ASPEN PLUS.     

Particle mixing in a fluidized bed containing baffles

Results are given on the mixing of the solid phase in a fluidized bed containing baffles; it is shown that a diffusion model can be used to advantage in analyzing longitudinal particle transport.     

Methods of measuring frequency-modulation index

A method of measuring the frequency-modulation index is proposed based on a measurement of the amplitudes of three spectral lines, described by Bessel functions. Synthesis of Heat-Integrated Distillation Systems

A two-level method is developed for the synthesis of separation systems with coupled heat fluxes for multicomponent mixtures. At the first level, the optimum organization of the separation subsystem is sought for, and the total cost of the heat-exchange subsystem is estimated from the lower bound calculated by analyzing the composition curves of the enthalpy–temperature diagram. At the second step, for the found scheme of the separation subsystem, the problem of synthesis of the optimum heat-exchange subsystem is solved. Analysis is performed of the possibility of the synthesis of the heat-exchange system with a varying minimum allowable difference between the inlet and outlet temperatures of the heat-exchanger.
