A planar model of a rocket motor has been developed that allows reaction in a central bore perforated by a projectile to be viewed with high-speed photography. Earlier work with this model showed that a “bubble” of propellant debris forms in the air gap between energetic material layers (bore region) as a result of projectile penetration of one of the layers. Ignition of the bubble occurs upon impact with the second layer, followed by a reaction ranging from mild burning to delayed delonation, depending on the width of the air gap, properties of the energetic material, and degree of confinement. The present paper presents the results of experimental and hydrocode studies to characterize the latter (delayed detonation) reaction. Results show that reaction initiates in the frontal portion of the bubble wall through mechanical (impact) shock. It then propagates backward through the bubble wall towards the first layer which then detonates. Detonation of the second layer occurs sympathetically. The reaction is bounded by a lower velocity limit and confined within a range of air gaps that increases with impact velocity. The upper-air-gap limit roughly coincides with the maximum expansion distance for the bubble before breakup, while the lower limit represents the minimum (threshold) damage level for detonation.  相似文献

The effect of alumina pretreatment on the performance of alumina supported nickel catalysts was demonstrated in gas phase hydrogenation of toluene to methylcyclohexane. The state of the alumina was changed from pure to pure phase through various heat treatments in air. The catalysts were prepared from vapor phase by saturating the accessible binding sites on the pretreated alumina with the nickel precursor. The highest number of active sites for hydrogenation was observed for catalysts prepared on alumina having an incomplete phase transition and a / alumina phase ratio between 0.5 and 10. Results from temperature programmed desorption (TPD) studies revealed that a maximum in weakly chemisorbed hydrogen as well as in total amount of desorbed hydrogen was found for the same catalysts. By hydrogen chemisorption studies the total hydrogen uptake was found to correlate with the observed hydrogenation maximum. It is suggested that both the chemical and physical properties of the alumina influence the activity. An optimal metal-support interaction and structural defects on the alumina due to the phase transition can explain the observed maximum in the number of active sites and in hydrogen uptake.  相似文献

Cathodic arc deposition is a unique technology. An arc spot on a cathode generates a plasma consisting of cathode material with a high degree of ionization. The high concentration of ions allows control of film morphology, high adhesion, efficient reactive deposition of compounds and uniform deposition over a variety of shapes. The composition of the alloys is generally retained from source to substrate. Deposition rates cover a wide range from nanometers per minute to tens of micrometers per minute. Many aspects of the technology warrant further study and its applications are only just beginning.  相似文献

A method for measuring continuously the inherent optical properties of water together with the salinity and the temperature values was developed and tested at the Division of Geophysics, University of Helsinki. The flow‐through system operates from a moving boat and has been used to collect parameters for optical modelling, coastal zone and inland water studies and to track the path of the fresh water spreading into sea areas. The system was also used in Lake Vänern, Sweden, to calculate the radiance reflectance, R r, and total back‐scattering efficiency, b b eff, along a transect. An example from the Gulf of Finland is presented, which shows how the spectral behaviour of light changes when moving away from a fresh water source. Data collected from the River Kymijoki estuary showed that the details in a rapidly changing environment were strongly smoothed in a Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) data image. The correlation for continuously measured scattering values and MODIS channel 1 data varied between 0.70 and 0.85, n?=?126. Flow‐through measurement datasets can be used to obtain representative sites for vertical profiles or calibration measurements.  相似文献

Ambient Media describe media environments, where the medium is embedded within the natural environment. They follow the anytime, anywhere, and anyhow principle for media access. The Nokia Ubimedia MindTreks Awards have been established a few years ago to explore the potential of ambient media. In this article we analyze the total project portfolio submitted to the 4th Nokia Ubimedia MindTrek Awards in 2010 according to their business value, innovativeness, and use of ambient media. The aim of this article is to gain insights into the general characteristics of ambient media, their properties, and business functions. The small intestinal epithelium has an important role in nutrition, but also in drug absorption and metabolism. There are a few two-dimensional (2D) patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-based intestinal models enabling easy evaluation of transcellular transport. It is known that animal-derived components induce variation in the experimental outcomes. Therefore, we aimed to refine the differentiation protocol by using animal-free components. More specifically, we compared maturation of 2D-cultured iPCSs toward small intestinal epithelial cells when cultured either with or without serum, and either on Geltrex or on animal-free, recombinant laminin-based substrata. Differentiation status was characterized by qPCR, immunofluorescence imaging, and functionality assays. Our data suggest that differentiation toward definitive endoderm is more efficient without serum. Both collagen- and recombinant laminin-based coating supported differentiation of definitive endoderm, posterior definitive endoderm, and small intestinal epithelial cells from iPS-cells equally well. Small intestinal epithelial cells differentiated on recombinant laminin exhibited slightly more enterocyte specific cellular functionality than cells differentiated on Geltrex. Our data suggest that functional small intestinal epithelial cells can be generated from iPSCs in serum-free method on xeno-free substrata. This method is easily converted to an entirely xeno-free method.  相似文献

This paper describes the design and implementation of a transmit/receive switch for 2.4 GHz ISM band applications. The T/R switch is implemented in a 0.35 m bulk CMOS process and it occupies 150 m · 170 m of die area. A parasitic MOSFET model including bulk resistance is used to optimize the physical dimensions of the transistors with regard to insertion loss and isolation. The measured insertion loss is 1.3 dB without port matching. Simulations using measured s-parameters indicate that an insertion loss of 0.8 dB can be obtained with a conjugate match. The measured isolation is 42 dB and the maximum transmit power is 16 dBm.  相似文献

Catalytic pyrolysis of spruce sawdust was carried out in a bubbling fluidized-bed reactor using HZSM-5 catalysts. The effects of space velocity, catalyst deactivation, catalyst acidity and catalyst regeneration were studied. The use of catalysts decreased the yield of organic liquids compared to non-catalytic yields while the yields of pyrolytic water and gases increased. Decreasing the space velocity enhanced these effects. The rate of catalyst deactivation depended on the acidity of the catalyst, with more acidic catalysts deactivating more rapidly. Using a catalyst with a Si/Al ratio of 140 resulted in the largest changes in bio-oil properties. Periodic regeneration of the catalyst in the fluidized-bed reactor was also demonstrated using varying regeneration times and temperatures. It was shown that compared to BFB reactors, CFB reactor types would offer better operating characteristics for commercial scale catalytic pyrolysis processes in regard to vapour residence times, and catalyst activity and regeneration.  相似文献

The use of food industry by-products for feeding is restricted by European Union by-product regulation (1774/2002). However, the actual public health risks involved in the use of such products are poorly recognized. This study focuses on bovine milk rejected at the dairy because of a positive result in antimicrobial drug testing and thereafter used as feed for finisher pigs in Finland. In theory, this current practice could expose pork consumers to antimicrobial drug residues. Raw bulk milk samples originating from rejected lots were analysed with a multiresidue method detecting five beta-lactams, including benzylpenicillin. Based on the probabilistic simulation model developed, concentrations of benzylpenicillin in pork invariably remained below 1% of the maximum residue limit. Therefore, the use of this by-product as feed with the current practice was considered to pose only a negligible risk to consumers of pork products.  相似文献

The electropolymerization of N-methylanthranilic acid (NMAA) is reported in this paper. The monomer is substituted both at ortho- and N-position and, to the best of our knowledge, it has not been previously electropolymerized. Electropolymerization of NMAA was done on glassy carbon and optically transparent (indium) tin oxide electrodes. The obtained films, which are probably of an oligomeric nature (oligoNMMA), were characterized with cyclic voltammetry (CV), in situ UV–vis and Raman spectroscopy, ex situ FTIR spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).Our results show that NMAA can be electropolymerized as thin films in 1.0 M HClO4, but the oxidation and reduction peak currents in the CVs indicate that the formed oligoNMAA films are thinner than poly(N-methylaniline) or poly(N-butylaniline) films prepared under similar conditions. The CV and UV–vis measurements confirm that oligoNMAA have three oxidation states like suggested in the redox scheme of substituted polyanilines. The Raman spectra of oligoNMAA also verify that more quinoid units are formed at higher potentials in accordance with the redox scheme. The ex situ FTIR measurement proves that covalently attached carboxylic acid groups are present in the film structure and attached to the oligoNMAA backbone.  相似文献
