In 24 cats (Uppsala, Sweden) with neurological signs of "staggering disease" and typical neuropathology, 44% had Borna disease virus (BDV)-specific antibodies. In 173 cat sera (Berlin, Germany) of animals with unknown record, 7% were BDV positive. Out of 24 cats with undefined neurological disorders, 13% were BDV positive. Similarities in staggering disease of cats and Borna disease of horses and sheep suggest related etiological agents.  相似文献

Creep is investigated under a uniform stress state with allowance for the micropolar creep of the following materials: lignostone (T=293°K), steel ON2M (T=773° K), and an AIMgSi aluminum alloy (T= 293° K) understate and cyclic tension, i.e., atA = a/m = 0, 0.25, and 0.5. It is established that for lignostone, the microstrains I11 are two orders lower than 212 in torsion, and the values of 2l12 are only a half order lower than 11 in tension. The creep strain of lignostone is described using nonlinear theory of viscoelasticity. Nano- and microparticles enter the body through the respiratory airways and the digestive system, or form as biominerals in the gall bladder, salivary glands, urinary bladder, kidney, or diabetic pancreas. Calcium, magnesium, and phosphate ions can precipitate from biological fluids in the presence of mucin as hybrid nanoparticles. Calcium carbonate nanocrystallites also trap mucin and are assembled into hybrid microparticles. Both mucin and calcium carbonate polymorphs (calcite, aragonite, and vaterite) are known to be components of such biominerals as gallstones which provoke inflammatory reactions. Our study was aimed at evaluation of neutrophil activation by hybrid vaterite–mucin microparticles (CCM). Vaterite microparticles (CC) and CCM were prepared under standard conditions. The diameter of CC and CCM was 3.3 ± 0.8 µm and 5.8 ± 0.7 µm, with ƺ-potentials of −1 ± 1 mV and −7 ± 1 mV, respectively. CC microparticles injured less than 2% of erythrocytes in 2 h at 1.5 mg mL−1, and no hemolysis was detected with CCM; this let us exclude direct damage of cellular membranes by microparticles. Activation of neutrophils was analyzed by luminol- and lucigenin-dependent chemiluminescence (Lum-CL and Luc-CL), by cytokine gene expression (IL-6, IL-8, IL-10) and release (IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, TNF-α), and by light microscopy of stained smears. There was a 10-fold and higher increase in the amplitude of Lum-CL and Luc-CL after stimulation of neutrophils with CCM relative to CC. Adsorption of mucin onto prefabricated CC microparticles also contributed to activation of neutrophil CL, unlike mucin adsorption onto yeast cell walls (zymosan); adsorbed mucin partially suppressed zymosan-stimulated production of oxidants by neutrophils. Preliminary treatment of CCM with 0.1–10 mM NaOCl decreased subsequent activation of Lum-CL and Luc-CL of neutrophils depending on the used NaOCl concentration, presumably because of the surface mucin oxidation. Based on the results of ELISA, incubation of neutrophils with CCM downregulated IL-6 production but upregulated that of IL-8. IL-6 and IL-8 gene expression in neutrophils was not affected by CC or CCM according to RT2-PCR data, which means that post-translational regulation was involved. Light microscopy revealed adhesion of CC and CCM microparticles onto the neutrophils; CCM increased neutrophil aggregation with a tendency to form neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs). We came to the conclusion that the main features of neutrophil reaction to mucin–vaterite hybrid microparticles are increased oxidant production, cell aggregation, and NET-like structure formation, but without significant cytokine release (except for IL-8). This effect of mucin is not anion-specific since particles of powdered kidney stone (mainly calcium oxalate) in the present study or calcium phosphate nanowires in our previous report also activated Lum-CL and Luc-CL response of neutrophils after mucin sorption.  相似文献

A comparative analysis of the structure and surface morphology of copper, indium, tin, and zinc films and their layered compositions fabricated by electrochemical deposition in the galvanostatic steady-state mode, galvanostatic mode with the ultrasonic agitation of electrolytes, and forward and reverse pulsed modes with rectangular potential pulses is made. The effect of the electrodeposition modes on the structure, optical properties, and surface morphology of amorphous and crystalline selenium films is studied. Cu/In/Se and Cu/Sn/Zn/Se film compositions, which are model precursors of, respectively, chalcopyrite CuInSe2 and kesterite, are fabricated by successive electrochemical deposition. Upon being converted by subsequent annealings to CuInSe2 and Cu2ZnSnSe4 semiconductor materials, these precursors will be used as the base layers for a new generation of inexpensive high-efficiency thin-film solar cells.  相似文献

In the pulmonary vasculature, mechanical forces such as cyclic stretch induce changes in vascular signaling, tone and remodeling. Nitric oxide is a potent regulator of soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC), which drives cGMP production, causing vasorelaxation. Pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMCs) express inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), and while iNOS expression increases during late gestation, little is known about how cyclic stretch impacts this pathway. In this study, PASMC were subjected to cyclic stretch of 20% amplitude and frequency of 1 Hz for 24 h and compared to control cells maintained under static conditions. Cyclic stretch significantly increased cytosolic oxidative stress as compared to static cells (62.9 ± 5.9% vs. 33.3 ± 5.7% maximal oxidation), as measured by the intracellular redox sensor roGFP. Cyclic stretch also increased sGCβ protein expression (2.5 ± 0.9-fold), sGC activity (1.5 ± 0.2-fold) and cGMP levels (1.8 ± 0.2-fold), as well as iNOS mRNA and protein expression (3.0 ± 0.9 and 2.6 ± 0.7-fold, respectively) relative to control cells. An antioxidant, recombinant human superoxide dismutase (rhSOD), significantly decreased stretch-induced cytosolic oxidative stress, but did not block stretch-induced sGC activity. Inhibition of iNOS with 1400 W or an iNOS-specific siRNA inhibited stretch-induced sGC activity by 30% and 68% respectively vs. static controls. In conclusion, cyclic stretch increases sGC expression and activity in an iNOS-dependent manner in PASMC from fetal lambs. The mechanism that produces iNOS and sGC upregulation is not yet known, but we speculate these effects represent an early compensatory mechanism to counteract the effects of stretch-induced oxidative stress. A better understanding of the interplay between these two distinct pathways could provide key insights into future avenues to treat infants with pulmonary hypertension.  相似文献

Summary Peculiarities of formation kinetics of sequential semi-interpenetrating polymer networks based on crosslinked polyurethane with different cross-linking density and linear polystyrene and polybutylmethacrylate have been studied. Polyurethane networks were synthesized differing in molecular mass Mc of the chains between cross-links. Monomeric styrene and butyl methacrylate were introduced into these networks by swelling them in monomers up to equilibrium. The kinetics of polymerization of monomers in swollen networks was investigated. The experimental data show the dependence of the kinetic parameters of polymerization on Mc, this dependence being different for various monomers. Sharp discrepancy in molecular mass distribution of polymers formed in various matrices has been observed. The differences in dependencies of reaction kinetics and molecular mass distribution are supposed to be connected to various dependence of the chain growth and termination of various monomers on the density of network, i.e. on the confinements imposed by the intranetwork space.  相似文献

The thermal degradation of acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives at 250 °C was investigated using pyrolysis-gas chromatography. Knowledge of the types and amounts of pyrolysis products will provide important information on the thermal degradation of acrylic adhesives and the mechanisms involved. Unsaturated monomers including butyl acrylate and butyl methacrylate were formed during thermal degradation of butyl acrylate–acrylic acid copolymers. As a result of side chain reactions in the thermal destruction of the butyl acrylate–acrylic acid-based self-adhesives, a remarkable amount of butyl alcohol was produced. The unsaturated monomers formed as a result of thermal degradation could potentially be used in a new polymerization process.  相似文献
