Seventy-two pearl millet genotypes were water stressed at panicle development and grain filling stages. Neither grain yields, yield components, protein percent nor total protein per unit area were affected by water deficit during panicle development but protein content per grain was increased. When plants were water stressed during grain filling, grain yield, grains per unit area and 1000 grain weight were reduced, but grain protein percentage increased. Total protein per unit area was reduced primarily due to lower grain yield. The protein content per grain was unaffected by stress, suggesting that the apparent increase in protein percentage is due to reduced carbohydrate accumulation under stress. 相似文献

A simple steady‐state kinetic high‐throughput assay was developed for the salicylate synthase MbtI from Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which catalyzes the first committed step of mycobactin biosynthesis. The mycobactins are small‐molecule iron chelators produced by M. tuberculosis, and their biosynthesis has been identified as a promising target for the development of new antitubercular agents. The assay was miniaturized to a 384‐well plate format and high‐throughput screening was performed at the National Screening Laboratory for the Regional Centers of Excellence in Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases (NSRB). Three classes of compounds were identified comprising the benzisothiazolones (class I), diarylsulfones (class II), and benzimidazole‐2‐thiones (class III). Each of these compound series was further pursued to investigate their biochemical mechanism and structure–activity relationships. Benzimidazole‐2‐thione 4 emerged as the most promising inhibitor owing to its potent reversible inhibition. 相似文献

Isolated aromatic interactions in designed octapeptide β‐hairpin scaffolds display a near‐universal T‐shaped face‐to‐edge geometry in all positional permutations, with the exception of aryl‐Trp interactions. The heterogeneous asymmetric indole ring of Trp competes for a “shielding” face geometry, which lowers the scaffold stability in FtE aryl‐Trp pairs. Assessment of the contributions of aryl pairs (in the absence of solvent‐driven interactions) to the overall β‐hairpin structure reveals the superiority of Trp‐Phe and Trp‐Tyr contributions over the well‐established scaffold stabilization by Trp‐Trp. 相似文献

We theoretically analyze the detection of a cancer cell in the one-dimensional photonic crystal by infiltrating different sample cells in the cavity layer. The defect modes appear in their transmission spectra only if the nanocomposite layers are included on either side of the cavity layer. This analysis is carried out by a dielectric constant and the transmittance peak of the cancer cell is compared with the normal cell. The transmittance peak shifts are analyzed with various filling factors for optimization purposes. Through the shifting spectrum, the sensitivity of cancer cell from the normal cell is obtained from a minimum of 42 nm/RIU to a maximum of 43 nm/RIU.

A novel photocatalyst comprises of ZrO2TiO2 immobilized on reduced graphene oxide (rGO) – a ternary heterojunction (ZrO2TiO2/rGO) was synthesized by using facile chemical method. The nanocomposite was prepared with a strategy to achieve better utilization of excitons for catalytic reactions by channelizing from metal oxide surfaces to rGO support. TEM and XRD analysis results revealed the heterojunction formed between ZrO2 and single crystalline anatase TiO2. The mesoporous structure of ZrO2TiO2 was confirmed using BET analysis. The red shift in absorption edge position of ZrO2TiO2/rGO photocatalyst was characterized by using diffuse reflectance UV–Visible spectra. ZrO2TiO2/rGO showed greater interfacial charge transfer efficiency than ZrO2TiO2, which was evidenced by well suppressed PL intensity and high photocurrent of ZrO2TiO2/rGO. The suitable band gap of 1.0 wt% ZrO2TiO2/rGO facilitated the utilization of solar light in a wide range by responding to the light of energy equal to as well as greater than 2.95 eV by the additional formation of excited high-energy electrons (HEEs). ZrO2TiO2/rGO showed the enhanced H2 production than TiO2/rGO, which revealed the role of ZrO2 for the effective charge separation at the heterojunction and the solar light response. The optimum loading of 1.0 wt% of ZrO2 and rGO on TiO2 showed the highest photocatalytic performance (7773 μmolh?1) for hydrogen (H2) production under direct solar light irradiation. 相似文献

考察了复合式膜生物反应器(HMBR),即电絮凝、生化和微滤过程,对制革污水中的COD和色度的去除效果。分析了电流密度和pH值在电絮凝过程中的影响,并优化了电絮凝过程。将优化后的电絮凝过程和活性污泥法(ASP)、末端微滤(MF)相结合,应用于制革污水处理中。结果表明:复合过程可以有效提升污水的处理质量。对比膜生物反应器(MBR)和HMBR的处理效果,HMBR的最大COD去除率和脱色率分别为90.2%和92.75%,而MBR的最大COD去除率和脱色率分别为72.69%和75.82%。使用SEM-EDAX分析HMBR过程中附着在膜表面的滤饼层,表明将MBR和电絮凝法结合后,膜上的污垢显著减少。 相似文献

The photocatalytic degradation of carbofuran (2,3-dihydro-2,2-dimethylbenzofuran-7-yl methylcarbamate) was investigated in an aqueous solution using Degussa P-25 TiO2 and ZnO as photocatalysts. The progress of degradation was monitored using TOC analyzer, HPLC, GC-MS and UV-vis spectrophotometer. The effects of various experimental parameters such as initial concentration of carbofuran, pH of the solution, catalyst loading and light intensity were systematically studied in order to achieve maximum degradation efficiency. The complete mineralization of carbofuran was confirmed by TOC analyzer. The degradation with ZnO showed less efficiency than TiO2. The formation of NO(3)(-) was identified and quantified using HPLC. In addition, four different intermediates formed during the degradation process were also identified and characterized by GC-MS. The mineralization rate was compared with lamps of wavelength 254 and 365 nm under similar conditions. The rate with 254 nm was observed to be very close to that of 365 nm. 相似文献
