A hybrid sorbent material for removal of hydrogen sulfide from air was developed. The material is based on activated carbon and iron compounds obtained from waste iron(II) sulfate(VI) heptahydrate. The iron salt is deposited on the carbonaceous support and subjected to oxidation (Fe2+ to Fe3+) using atmospheric oxygen under alkaline conditions. An effect of H2O2 addition to the process on the composition of the resultant material was also examined. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses confirmed easy conversion of waste FeSO4·7H2O to iron oxides Fe3O4 and FeOOH. The activated carbon supporting iron oxides revealed a higher efficiency in H2S elimination from air compared to the commercial activated carbon, without any modification.  相似文献

The biorelevant PyFALGEA oligopeptide ligand, which is selective towards the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), has been successfully employed as a substrate in magnetic resonance signal amplification by reversible exchange (SABRE) experiments. It is demonstrated that PyFALGEA and the iridium catalyst IMes form a PyFALGEA:IMes molecular complex. The interaction between PyFALGEA:IMes and H2 results in a ternary SABRE complex. Selective 1D EXSY experiments reveal that this complex is labile, which is an essential condition for successful hyperpolarization by SABRE. Polarization transfer from parahydrogen to PyFALGEA is observed leading to significant enhancement of the 1H NMR signals of PyFALGEA. Different iridium catalysts and peptides are inspected to discuss the influence of their molecular structures on the efficiency of hyperpolarization. It is observed that PyFALGEA oligopeptide hyperpolarization is more efficient when an iridium catalyst with a sterically less demanding NHC ligand system such as IMesBn is employed. Experiments with shorter analogues of PyFALGEA, that is, PyLGEA and PyEA, show that the bulky phenylalanine from the PyFALGEA oligopeptide causes steric hindrance in the SABRE complex, which hampers hyperpolarization with IMes. Finally, a single-scan 1H NMR SABRE experiment of PyFALGEA with IMesBn revealed a unique pattern of NMR lines in the hydride region, which can be treated as a fingerprint of this important oligopeptide.  相似文献

Results of a study on the modifying mechanical properties of loose optical‐fiber poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT) tubes, produced during the standard industrial extrusion process, show that heat treatment make the structure of their material to change. The study comprised measurements of mechanical strengths properties of the tubes (tensile strength, compression strength, kinking) and determination of tube material structure [by differential thermal analysis (DTA), wide angle X‐ray scattering analysis (WAXD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM)]. Results of the study allowed observation that the annealing at 70°C for 34 h of the tubes caused the crystalline α phase to increase in the tube material from ~28.5% to ~31.5% and the structure of the existing crystallites to become more perfect. This made the values of certain mechanical properties of the tubes to increase even by as much as 30%. The tubes following such thermal treatment could be used in cables exposed to heavy‐duty operation in arduous environments, where a larger margin from the standpoint of mechanical properties is required. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The article proposes an analytical method for determining occupancy distribution and blocking probability in systems which are offered overflow traffic composed of multi-service traffic streams. The described analytical model enables determination of parameters of traffic overflowed from primary groups in hierarchically constructed telecommunication networks. The proposed method is based on an appropriate modification of the Kaufman-Roberts recursion for the full-availability group with multi-rate traffic and uses the modified Fredericks & Hayward’s approximation. Additionally, an approximate method for dimensioning systems with multi-service overflow traffic is also presented. The analytical results of the blocking probability and the results obtained in the dimensioning processes calculated using the presented methodology are compared with the data obtained from the system simulation process.  相似文献

The rheological properties of spinning solutions of polyacrylonitrile in dimethyl formamide (DMF) containing various amounts of a ferromagnetic nanoaddition were investigated. The Swedish Fire Research Board and the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency are sponsoring a project to further the understanding of the basic mechanisms involved, as well as to support the development of standards for and to seek ways of improving the performance of portable fire suppression systems used by fire departments.This paper describes a physically based computer model developed to simulate one aspect of the problem: the manual suppression of postflashover fires. This includes: (1) an overview of the physical basis behind the model; (2) a comparison of model predictions with available experimental data, and (3) an analysis of fire suppression effectiveness using the model.The analysis concludes that, when direct access and extinguishment of the burning fuel is not possible, improved fire control occurs with water sprays having a Rosin-Rammler distribution of droplet sizes with volume-median-drop diameters in the 0.15 to 0.35 mm range. This agrees with available experimental data. It is also shown that fire fighting venting and standoff distance requirements may lead to more severe fires requiring more water for control; although venting and water spray induced air/gas flow also serve to channel hot steam and gases away from the fire fighter adding to his safety. The analysis also shows that allowing higher gas and surface temperatures at fire control through improved fire fighter protective clothing and equipment design reduces water flow rate requirements. Highly porous wood-based activated carbon was treated with species extracted from the surface of pyrolyzed sewage sludge. Their deposition on the external surface was visible by a change of the color of the carbon and on internal surfaces, by a decrease in porosity. The as-received carbon and its impregnated counterpart were heat treated at 950 °C at an inert atmosphere. Data for the adsorption on NO2 was carried out from dry and moist (70% humidity) air. The results indicated that for all materials a significant amount of NO2 was reduced to NO and released from the system. Heat treatment increases the capacity possibly as a result of an increase in basicity. The addition of the inorganic phase has a positive effect only when adsorption is run in moist conditions and inorganic nitrates and nitrites were formed. Otherwise, the NO2 adsorbed and nitric and nitrous acids formed on the surface significantly increase the acidity of the carbons by the formation of oxygen-containing groups and organic nitrates.  相似文献

The rising demand for faster and more efficient electronic devices forces electronics industry to shift toward terahertz frequencies. Therefore there is a growing need for efficient, lightweight, and easy to produce absorbing materials in the terahertz range for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and related applications. This study presents a study on basic optical properties of two types polymer-based composites loaded with two-dimensional structures—graphene and MXene phases (Ti2C). In said range, total EMI shielding efficiency (SE) and its components, the absorption coefficient (α ), refractive index, and complex dielectric function are investigated. The ratio of SE absorption component to reflection component (SEABS :SER ) of fabricated composites is equal or higher than 30:1 in over 80% of studied range. The fabricated composites exhibit low (<0.1) loss tangent in studied range. The addition of 1 wt% of graphene increases the composite α over 10-fold in respect to pure polymer–up to 60 cm−1 for frequency higher than 2 THz.  相似文献
