Preparation of titanium dioxide for heat-resistant sealants

Based on the kinetic data and the mechanism of thermolysis of titanium hydroxide compounds isolated under the thermal or ammonia hydrolysis of titanium(IV) sulfate solution, as well as of ammonium titanyl sulfate (ATS), and by the results of investigating the surface properties of thermolysis products, a method of preparing organophilic titanium dioxide with low bulk density was proposed, which can be used to obtain special silicone-based sealants.     

Simulation of the dependence of gas composition on the conditions of the thermal treatment of oil shale

Empirical formulas for calculating the concentrations of substances such as hydrogen and carbon(II) oxide and also the smallest possible concentration of carbon(IV) oxide in gas prepared by the steam treatment of oil shale were obtained. It was found that, as the temperature was increased above 600°C, the gasification of shale occurred under thermodynamic equilibrium conditions, and catalysts based on NiO made it possible to reach maximum yields of hydrogen at lower temperatures.     

The effect of thiamine, riboflavin, nicotinamide and ascorbic acid on the formation of nitrosamines in meat products

The data are presented on the content of nitrosamines in meat products prepared according to traditional technology versus the use of water-soluble vitamins and their complex. It is shown that the enrichment of sausage products and canned meat with thiamine, riboflavin, nicotinamide and ascorbic acid is conducive to better hygienic parameters of the products, with lower content of nitrosamines (from 29.4 to 72.6%) as compared to meat products prepared according to the traditional technology.

The addition of fish oil (20 g for 3 weeks) to diets of 7 patients with chronic renal failure (CRF) contributed to correction of metabolic derangement and nitrogen release, to alleviation of clinical symptoms. The most pronounced positive shifts were reported in early CRF. This gives evidence for a preventive value of diets supplemented with fish oil which secure delay of terminal CRF.
