Critical Shear Stress of Bimodal Sediment in Sand-Gravel Rivers   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A new model for the critical shear stress and the transport of graded sediment is presented. The model is based on the size distribution of the bed surface and can be used to compute sediment transport rates in numerical simulations with an active layer model. This model makes a distinction between unimodal and bimodal sediments. It is assumed that all size fractions of unimodal sediments have the same critical shear stress while there is selective transport for the gravel fractions of bimodal sediments. A recently published laboratory transport data set is used to calibrate our model.  相似文献

In this work, we present room-temperature laser emission at 1.206 /spl mu/m from GaInNAs-GaAs quantum-well (QW) laser diodes (LDs) grown on misoriented GaAs (111)B substrates for the first time. Details of the structure and the molecular beam epitaxial growth of the lasers are discussed. We found that the postgrowth rapid thermal annealing increased the optimum emission, while the in situ self annealing effect in these QWs is almost negligible. The optimum annealing cycle (30 s at 850/spl deg/C) is comparable to that found for the cladding-free GaInNAs single QW samples grown on GaAs (111)B. Finally, the optical and electrical characterization of these LD devices is presented. The LDs show a room-temperature threshold current density of 2.15 kA/cm/sup 2/, with a differential quantum efficiency of 37%, under pulsed conditions.  相似文献

Pt impregnated metallic monoliths prepared from anodised aluminium foils were tested to study their catalytic activity in complete oxidation of volatile organic compound (VOC) mixtures. The VOCs oxidised were 2-propanol, toluene, methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), acetone and their mixtures. Complete oxidation was obtained in all cases except for the case of 2-propanol, where acetone was found as an oxidation intermediate. Even if the adsorption of the VOC on the Al2O3 is governed by its polarity, the reactivity is mainly affected by the competition of the oxygen atoms chemisorbed on the Pt particles.  相似文献

Several forms of cell perturbation have been associated with ethanol ingestion. Fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) as well as diminished maxillofacial development and inhibition of cell regeneration in vitro and in vivo have been described. Epidermal growth factor (EGF) stimulates maxillofacial growth, DNA synthesis, and it is a potent mitogen for a number of various cell types. EGF exerts its effects on cells through binding to a specific cell surface receptor which leads to activation of a thyrosine kinase in the intracellular part of the receptor. The inhibitory effect of alcohol on EGF in the mouse dental follicle was studied in the offspring of alcoholic mothers using immunocytochemistry. Adult female mice were given 22% alcohol in their drinking water and fed a pelleted diet before and during pregnancy. Maternal blood alcohol levels were 262 +/- 1.3 mg/100 ml on gestation day 12.5. The offspring of the alcoholic and control mice were sacrificed on postnatal day 1.5, their mandibles were dissected, weighed and processed by routine immunocytochemistry with the following results. 1) Significant differences were found in mandible weight p < 0.01 after parturition. 2) The tooth germs in the offspring of ethanol treated mice were morphometrically smaller than those of control littermates. 3) Immunoexpression of EGF in the mandibular first molar of the control group was strong and homogeneous while in the experimental group the expression was light and heterogeneous. It is concluded that maternal alcoholism reduces EGF in the offspring.  相似文献

In this note, we show that any distributive lattice is isomorphic to the set of reachable configurations of an Edge Firing Game. Nuclisens HIV-1 QT is a new version of the NASBA HIV-1 QT assay for quantitation of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) RNA in plasma. The specificity of this assay was 100% in one laboratory and 99%-with nonrepeatability of the initial false positive-in another. The test was linear between 2.0 and 6.0 log RNA copies per ml. According to the input HIV-1 RNA concentration, accuracy varied from -0.11 to +0.10 log RNA copy per ml and precision varied from 0.66 to 0.14 log RNA copy per ml. Reproducibility decreased when the HIV-1 RNA level was near the lower limit of quantitation of the test. HIV-1 RNA could be quantitated by Nuclisens HIV-1 QT in 36% (laboratory 1) and 24% (laboratory 2) of clinical samples with HIV-1 RNA levels lower than the lower limit of quantitation by NASBA HIV-1 QT. Nuclisens HIV-1 QT was not suitable for measurement of RNA from clade G and group O HIV-1 strains.  相似文献
