System analysis of the efficiency and competitiveness of chroming technologies

The scientifically based selection of efficient chemical technologies is related to the integrated assessment of indicators of their energy and resource efficiency and environmental safety, as well as indicators of the quality of products. The authors conducted systematic analysis of the efficiency and competitiveness of two electrochemical technologies of chroming from the solutions based on chromium salts of different valences. The strengths and weaknesses of each technology have been defined using the methodology of SWOT analysis, and the defined qualitative indicators of the efficiency of technologies have been determined using the methods of nonparametric statistics.     

Unified equation for calculating the viscosity coefficient of argon,nitrogen, and carbon dioxide

Using the earlier proposed relations for the viscosity coefficient and internal energy of a thermodynamic system, a simple unified few-parameter equation for describing the viscosity coefficient of argon, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide in a wide range of the state parameters has been derived.     

Experimental investigation on the drying of loosely-packed and heterogeneous municipal solid waste

In this paper, experimental investigation on convective drying of mixed municipal solid wastes was conducted. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of temperature, change in composition and particle size on the overall drying rate coefficient and mass transfer coefficient. Particle size of the samples was determined and mass losses recorded with time when the samples were dried using convective dryer. Mass losses were used to determine moisture content, drying rate coefficient and mass transfer coefficient. Experimental results showing the effect of temperature, changes in the composition of organic waste and particle size were presented.

Physicotheoretical method for analyzing the structure of crystalline materials using the diffraction scattering of high-frequency electromagnetic waves

The method of diffraction scattering of high-frequency electromagnetic waves at large distances from the scattering centers in crystalline systems and its application to the structural analysis of substances are considered. The relation between the differential and integral effective scattering cross sections of high-frequency electromagnetic monochromatic waves in a material and the electron density of its scattering centers is studied for different ratios between the parameters of the primary radiation and the structure of the scattering crystalline materials.     

Process Control System Synthesis under Constraints Imposed on Controlled Variables

The Principal Components Regression method is adapted for automatic process control synthesis. The modified method ensures that the constraints imposed on the controlled variables are satisfied as the control and disturbing actions vary randomly. Conventional methods of compressing information into a space of a lower dimensionality are adapted for constrained controlled variables. A simple numerical example is provided to illustrate the synthesis of a linear control system for a given model process.
