In a radiating-conducting planar medium with a boundary as the heater surface using an inverse analysis, this work deals with the design methodologies to understand the inherent relationship between heater surface temperature/flux, design surface temperature/flux, and medium properties. The heat flux on the heater surface is chosen as the fitness function. Subsequently, to achieve maximum and minimum design surface heat fluxes, an optimization was done to evaluate the zone of operation of the heater. In addition, the effect of medium properties on the temperature-flux relationships on both surfaces has been studied. The distance between the two surfaces is also considered a parameter. The medium properties, the distance between the surfaces, and the heater surface temperature have been found to have a great impact on the design surface heat flux. The inverse mixed boundary problem has been solved using the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM), the finite-volume method (FVM), and the genetic algorithm (GA). Results of the present study provide a guideline towards the efficient design of a heater in which conduction and radiation are the dominant modes of heat transfer.  相似文献

This article addresses the economic feasibility of silica and palladium composite membranes for gaseous dehydrogenation reaction schemes. Unlike other methodologies addressed so far, this work presents the economic assessment of dehydrogenation reaction schemes using a conceptual design based simulation methodology for the comparative economic assessment of membrane reactors with conventional reactors. The suggested methodology is applied to two industrially prominent reaction schemes namely styrene (from ethylbenzene) and propylene (from propane) production using silica and palladium composite membrane reactors. Various sub-cases studied in this work include the influence of membrane area per reaction zone volume, reaction zone temperature, reaction and permeation zone pressure, membrane thickness and sweep gas flow rate on process economics. Based on this work, the propylene production scheme is evaluated to provide 60–70% excess profits using membrane reactors when compared with the conventional reactor based technology. However, the gross profit profiles for both conventional reactor and membrane reactor configurations have been found to be similar for styrene production case. For all cases, the cost contribution of membranes and other auxiliary equipment is estimated not to exceed 20% of the total costs. In addition, similar economic performance has been observed for both silica and palladium membranes. Based on these studies, it has been concluded that the industrial applicability of membrane reactors is economically suitable for those dehydrogenation reactions that enable significant conversion enhancement with respect to the conventional reactor technologies.  相似文献

Three-dimensional (3D) printing, one of the forms of additive manufacturing, has become a popular trend worldwide with a wide range of applications including food. The technology is adaptable and meets foods nutritional and sensory needs allowing meat processing to reach a sustainable level, technology addressing the food requirement of the ever-increasing population and the fast-paced lifestyle by reducing food preparation time. By minimizing food waste and the strain on animal resources, technology can help to create a more sustainable economy and environment. This review article discusses the 3D printing process and various 3D printing techniques used for food printing, such as laser powder bed fusion, inkjet food printing, and binder jetting, a suitable 3D technique used for meat printing, such as extrusion-based bioprinting. Moreover, we discuss properties that affect the printability of meat and its products with their applications in the meat industry, 3D printing market potential challenges, and future trends.  相似文献
