Abstract

There has been a great deal of research on characterising bulk solids. However, some of the characteristics, particularly the time‐dependent and random changes of properties, still remain insufficiently understood. The focus of this article is to study the influence of particle size, size distribution, moisture content, and particle shape on the unconfined yield strength of bulk solids. We present some interesting results about the influence of the particle size distribution on the unconfined yield strength of a bulk solid and a new method for determining the influence of particle shape on the unconfined yield strength of a bulk solid, which was made possible by the design and use of a novel attritor.  相似文献

The miniaturization of refrigerating systems represents a very current scientific and technical challenge to improve the performances of numerous electronic components. This work presents a global approach to the problem and suggests studying the cooling by means of small channels filled with an oscillating gas: the double inlet pulse tube refrigerator (DIPTR). A great level of miniaturization based on the technology of carving silicon is exposed. This study proposes to apply an electric analogy for modeling both hydrodynamic and thermal phenomena. Considering the complexity of the theoretical problem including mechanical, thermal, thermodynamical, and acoustic considerations, the authors take care to summarize the main governing equations in a particular form so any scientific engineer could understand the DIPTR principle.  相似文献

We describe annotation of multiword expressions (MWEs) in the Prague dependency treebank, using several automatic pre-annotation steps. We use subtrees of the tectogrammatical tree structures of the Prague dependency treebank to store representations of the MWEs in the dictionary and pre-annotate following occurrences automatically. We also show a way to measure reliability of this type of annotation.  相似文献

Linear thermoacoustic theory is applied to study the regenerator of a Stirling machine or a Pulsed gas refrigerator regenerator filled with a stack of beds in a cylindrical envelope. Pressure, velocity and temperature amplitude are calculated, and a formulation of the thermal time constant of the regenerator is proposed. A global equivalent electrical scheme of the regenerator is also deduced. The total axial energy flux expression is demonstrated and the influence of the thermal time constant and of the various impedance is discussed. Axial variations of the energy flux, which correspond to thermal exchanges with the surroundings are expressed through consideration of thermoacoustical phenomena: thermal relaxation of the acoustical energy, viscous losses, thermoacoustical source/sink. Theoretical results are analysed to comment on temperature profiles along the regenerator in a periodical regime.  相似文献

Nonbiocidal techniques for wood protection have become more and more important in the last few years. One of the possible treatments to enhance wood durability is use of water repellents. In this research, the influence of one of the possible water repellents, the montan wax emulsion, on the moisturizing and the sorption characteristics of impregnated wood was investigated. To achieve a better protection against wood decay fungi, wood was impregnated with montan wax emulsion enriched with boric acid. The equilibrium moisture content (MC) was monitored during the adsorption and the desorption processes at five levels of relative air humidity (RH1 = 20%, RH2 = 33%, RH3 = 65%, RH4 = 88%, and RH5 = 98%). Water repellence efficiency was monitored in the chamber with high RH (87%) and during dipping in the water. Impregnated samples were also exposed outdoors in a covered position for 5 months to determine MC changes according to changes in outdoor humidity and temperature. The results showed that the sorption properties of the impregnated wood are strongly related to retention of preservative solutions after impregnation and its composition. Montan wax reduced equilibrium MC of the impregnated wood up to 25% (relatively), whereas specimens impregnated with combination of montan wax and boric acid resulted in decreased MC in some cases and in increased MC in some cases. The design of a double inlet pulse tube refrigerator is investigated by means of an analogy with an electric circuit. The results obtained are compared with both those of the thermodynamic model (Part A) and experiments. The basic formulation of equivalent electronic components is discussed and a few improvements are proposed for adjusting the theoretical expressions of the electric impedance concerning the capillaries and the regenerator. Then additional effects such as pressure drops due to geometrical singularities are taken into account considering the different internal flow regimes that may occur. Besides a simplified formulation for the regenerator efficiency is deduced from considerations on its harmonic functioning. In this analysis, the emphasis concerns principally the design of miniature cryocoolers dedicated to electronic applications. Those models are applied to a commercial miniature refrigerator. A discussion of their relevance is achieved and a few suggestions on the refrigerator design are proposed in order to improve the cooling production.  相似文献

Due to its salient properties, mobile agent technology has received a rapidly growing attention over the last few years. Many developments of mobile agent systems are under way in both academic and industrial environments. In addition, there are already various efforts to standardize mobile agent facilities and architectures. Mole is the first mobile agent system that has been developed in the Java language. The first version was finished in 1995, and since then Mole has been constantly improved. Mole provides a stable environment for the development and usage of mobile agents in the area of distributed applications. In this paper we describe the basic concepts of a mobile agent system, i.e., mobility, communication and security, discuss different implementation techniques, present the decisions made in Mole and give an overview of the system services implemented in Mole.  相似文献

An experimental investigation of the solids flow pattern in gas-flowing solids-fixed bed contactors is presented. The apparatus and procedures for determining the dynamic and static solids holdups, solids residence time distribution and the extent and rate of the exchange between particles in the static and dynamic solids holdup are described in detail.Experiments were performed in a bench scale system, containing a column (diameter ) packed with glass beads of 16 mm in diameter packed up to the height of 0.8 m. Tracer experiments with a step input in flowing solids phase were used for determining the residence time distribution and exchange between particles. Fine solids (spheres with mean diameter of ) of two different colors (all other properties being the same) were used in the tracer experiments to determine the residence time distribution and the exchange between static and dynamic solids holdup. In both types of experiments, the response curves have been obtained via color analysis of digital photos. All experiments have been repeated at different operating conditions, with a broad variation of solids mass flux and gas velocity, and reproducibility at set conditions was checked.The obtained experimental results are discussed and the observed important characteristics of the solids flow pattern are outlined. The effects of the solids flux and gas velocity on the solids flow pattern are presented and analyzed.  相似文献
