ABSTRACT

In recent times, the applications of multimedia are rising in a greedy mode and hence the amount of video transactions is also increasing exponentially. This has shouted great demands on effective models on video encoding and also for reducing the transmission channel congestion. This research work introduces a managing technique termed weighted encoding for High-Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC). HEVC, also termed as MPEG-H Part 2 and H.265 is a video compression standard that is widely utilized AVC (H.264 or MPEG-4 Part 10). When compared to AVC, HEVC grants double the ratio of data compression at a similar level of quality of the video or considerably enhanced video quality at a similar bit rate. This work intends to optimize the weight that adopted in HEVC for encoding. For this, this paper proposes a new Iterative based propagation update in the water wave Optimization Algorithm (IPU-WWO), which is the improved form of Water wave Optimization (WWO). The performance of proposed IPU-WWO is compared over other conventional methods like Artificial Bee Colony (ABC), Firefly (FF), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) with respect to Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR). By doing the encoding process, it minimizes the video size with perceptually better quality video or PSNR.  相似文献

Organic solar cells have been significantly attracted due to the need to develop an inexpensive clean and sustainable renewable energy source. We report on the fabrication of poly [N-9″-hepta-decanyl-2,7-carbazole-alt-5,5-(4′,7′-di-2-thienyl-2′,1′,3′-benzothiadiazole)]/[6, 6]-phenyl-C71-butyric acid methyl ester blend active layer using airbrush spray-coating method in mixed solvents. Optical absorption of the active layers was analyzed using UV–visible spectral studies in the wavelength range from 300 to 800 nm. The surface morphology of the active layers deposited with different parameters (spraying time and substrate-nozzle distance) was examined using atomic force microscopy. The current density–voltage (JV) characteristics of photovoltaic cells were measured under the illumination of simulated solar light with 100 mW cm?2 (AM 1.5G) by an Oriel 1000 W solar simulator. The power conversion efficiency of the solar cell is more than 5 %.  相似文献

A simple fixed geometry impulse turbine has been studied as a suitable power converter in Oscillating Water Column based wave power plants. Comparison with the Wells turbine, which is the commonly used self-rectifying turbine in such applications, shows it to be superior in performance under irregular flow conditions. Optimum guide vane angle for maximum efficiency has been arrived at based on the five angles tested.  相似文献

A Wells turbine has inherent disadvantages: lower efficiency and poorer starting characteristics. Providing guide vanes on either side of the rotor could be one of the most effective ways of improving its performance. Several papers have demonstrated the usefulness of 2D guide vanes so far. In order to achieve further improvement in the performance of the Wells turbine, the effect of 3D guide vanes has been investigated experimentally by testing a model under steady flow conditions. Then, the running and starting characteristics under irregular flow conditions have been obtained by a computer simulation using quasi-steady analysis. It is found that the running and starting characteristics of the Wells turbine with 3D guide vanes are superior to those with 2D guide vanes.  相似文献

Oscillating Water Column based wave energy plants convert wave energy into low pressure pnuematic power in the form of bi-directional air flows. Air turbines which are capable of rotating uni-directionally in bi-directional air flow, otherwise also known as self-rectifying turbines, are used to extract mechanical shaft power which is further converted into electrical power by a generator. This paper reviews the state of the art in self-rectifying impulse air turbines. New results on optimum parameters for the fixed-guide-vane impulse turbine are also presented. Starting characteristics and conversion efficiencies of two types of impulse turbines are compared with the well known Wells turbine.  相似文献

Sheet resistances in nitrogen- and phosphorus-implanted 4H-SiC are measured to assess the time and temperature dependencies of this variable. In 4H-SiC implanted with 3 × 1015 cm?2 nitrogen ions to a depth of 2800 Å, the minimum sheet resistance observed is 534 Ω/□. The minimum sheet resistance in 4H-SiC implanted with 4 × 1015 cm?2 phosphorus ions to a depth of 4000 Å is 51 Ω/□, a record low value for any implanted element into any polytype of SiC. Time-independent sheet resistances are observed following anneals at 1700°C for nitrogen and phosphorus samples. Lower temperature anneals produce sheet resistances which decrease monotonically with increasing time of anneal. Overall, sheet resistances from phosphorus-implanted 4H-SiC are an order of magnitude below those measured from nitrogen implanted samples. The response of phosphorus to low-temperature annealing is significant, and sheet resistances below 500 Ω/□ are achieved at 1200°C. Activation of phosphorus is attempted in an oxidizing atmosphere with and without prior argon annealing. A three-hour gate oxidation in wet O2 at 1150°C, followed by a 30 min argon anneal, produced a sheet resistance of 1081 Ω/□. Oxidation after argon annealing caused sheet resistances to increase by about 20% compared to samples subjected solely to argon annealing. It is also found that oxide growth rates are much higher over phosphorus implanted than over unimplanted 4H-SiC. Reasons for the disparity in sheet resistances between nitrogen and phosphorus implants, and for the difference in oxide growth rates are suggested.  相似文献

The method of wave energy conversion utilises an oscillating water column (OWC). The OWC converts wave energy into low-pressure pneumatic energy in the form of bi-directional airflow. Wells turbine with its zero blade pitch setting has been used to convert this pneumatic power into uni-directional mechanical shaft power. Measurements in OWC based wave energy plants in India and Japan show that the airflow velocity is not equal in both directions. The velocity is more when the airflows out to the atmosphere (exhalation) than in the reverse direction. It may be advantageous to set the rotor blade pitch asymmetrically at a positive pitch so as to achieve a higher mean efficiency in a wave cycle. Towards this objective, performance characteristics of a turbine with different blade setting angles in steady flow were found by experimentation. Quasi-steady analysis was then used to predict the mean efficiency for a certain variation of air velocity with time. This variation with time was taken as pseudo-sinusoidal wherein the positive part of the cycle was taken as a half sine-wave whose amplitude is greater than that of the negative half sine-wave. Such a variation is representative of what happens in reality. For exhalation velocity amplitude to inhalation velocity ratios 0.8 and 0.6, a rotor blade setting angle of 2° was found to be optimum.  相似文献

For an underwater vehicle-manipulator system, which consists of an underwater vehicle equipped with a manipulator, it is important to regulate the position of the manipulator’s end-effector with respect to a given target position in many interactive operations. This paper presents a task space-based approach for designing a controller that ensures that the end-effector of an underwater vehicle-manipulator system maintains its position in the presence of unknown ocean currents and uncertainties without the explicit use of a disturbance observer. A feedback linearizing control in task coordinates is used, and an extended Kalman filter (EKF) is employed as a state observer. The proposed approach can also be applied to dynamic positioning or controlled weathervaning of a surface ship whose motion is affected by environmental disturbances. To demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed approach, numerical simulations and experimental tests were carried out and their results are shown.  相似文献

Epilayers of GaN were grown on patterned Si (111) substrates of various terrace widths by means of metal organic chemical vapor deposition. The technique of lateral epitaxy on a patterned substrate used the growth of GaN epilayers from the periodic and parallel stripes that form as a result of the substrate etching. Silicon substrates were patterned for various terrace widths of 3 μm, 8 μm, and 18 μm. A low temperature AlN was used as a seed layer for the growth of a 1.5 μm thick GaN epilayer. The as-grown samples were characterized by using double-crystal X-ray diffractometry (DCXRD), photoluminescence and atomic force microscopy (AFM). From the DCXRD spectra, the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the samples was found to decrease as the terrace width decreased. This behavior indicates that there is an improvement in the crystalline quality of the GaN epilayers as the terrace width decreases. The photoluminescence spectra reveal a decrease in the FWHM and an increase in the peak intensity as the terrace width decreases. This behavior indicates that there is an improvement in the optical quality of the GaN epilayer as the terrace width decreases. The atomic force micrographs reveal a dislocation-free homogeneous surface in the trench region compared to the terrace region with defects such as pits and dislocations. The results clearly show that GaN epilayers grown on a patterned Si substrate with a terrace width 3 μm have a good crystalline quality with minimal threading dislocation and excellent band edge emission.  相似文献
