Ionic liquids with chemical formula 1,3-dioctadecylimidazolium bromide and N-Octadecylpyridinium bromide were synthesized by conventional and microwave-assisted reactions, respectively. Ionic liquids tested as corrosion inhibitors after polarization curves displayed corrosion protection efficiency within 82-88% at 100 ppm for mild steel in a 1 M aqueous solution of sulfuric acid. Standard free energy indicated that corrosion inhibition occurred by a chemical adsorption process. Surface analysis (SEM, EDX) completed by XRD and Mössbauer spectroscopy indicated the presence of carbon species pertaining to inhibitor and corrosion products, which was rationalized in an inhibition mechanism.  相似文献

A novel class of four new-free-halide-ionic liquids (ILs) derived from ammonium was synthesized and characterized via spectroscopic methods such as 1H NMR and 13C NMR. The synthesized compounds were evaluated as corrosion inhibitors (CIs) of API 5L X60 steel in 1 M sulfuric acid by means of the potentiodynamic polarization and weight loss techniques. The results confirmed that the inhibition efficiency displayed by the four ILs is a function of their concentration and molecular structure. The obtained inhibition efficiency (η) ranged from 51 to 89%, confirming that the new class of ILs is good for corrosion inhibition purposes. The analysis of the potentiodynamic results showed that these compounds inhibit the corrosion of steel, classifying them as mixed-type CIs. The adsorption process of these new CIs on the API 5L X60 steel surface, which obeyed the Langmuir isotherm, was found to be physical and chemical. The SEM and EDX analyses confirmed the protection of steel in the corrosive medium.  相似文献

Seven cationic surfactants: 1-methyl-3-tetradecyl imidazolium bromide, 1-methyl-3-hexadecyl imidazolium bromide, N,N-tetradecyl pyridinium bromide, N,N-hexadecyl pyridinium bromide, N,N-dimethyl-N-ethylbenzyl ammonium bromide, N,N-dimethyl-N-ethylbenzyl ammonium laurate and N,N-dimethyl-N-ethylbenzyl ammonium acetate, were investigated at different doses (10, 25, 50, 100, and 200 ppm) as corrosion inhibitors for steel grade API 5L X52 in hydrochloric acid 2 M using a weight loss technique, impedance and polarization resistance methods. The corrosion inhibition of steel grade API 5L X52 of the cationic surfactants was attributed to their molecular structure (heterocyclic ring, hydrophobic chain length and counterion) that enhances adsorption onto steel surface. The best protective efficiency of the film was higher than 90% (N,N-Dimethyl-N-ethylbenzyl ammonium acetate). It is important to know how organic inhibitor films grown on the metallic surface in order to achieve superior corrosion inhibition, hence experimental findings were described by Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy spectrums were fitted by means of the Voigt model.  相似文献

The effect of seven amphiphilic compounds, on steel API 5L X52 corrosion in sulphuric acid 1 M solution was studied by potentiodynamic polarization curves, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Potentiodynamic polarization curves indicated that these compounds acted mainly as cathodic type inhibitors. The EIS spectrums showed that the mechanism of corrosion inhibition is mainly a faradic process, the spectra were fitted with one electrical equivalent circuit (EEC) using a constant phase element (CPE). Double layer capacitance associated with CPE was also obtained. Langmuir, Temkin, and Henry adsorption isotherm described the experimental findings. This information suggested that organic molecules were adsorbed on active sites on metal surface avoiding contact of corrosive media with steel surface, having adsorbate molecules low molecular interaction between them even with the presence of more amphiphilic molecules on the steel surface as concentration got higher values.  相似文献

New compounds of alkylamides derived from α-amino acids were tested as corrosion inhibitors for carbon steel in an aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid. The chemical synthesis of these amides performed by aminolysis of α-amino acid methyl esters resulted in good yields. Electrochemical testing was carried out using polarization scans and weight loss measurements. Polarization scans indicated that compounds act as mixed corrosion inhibitors with an efficiency of 80–90% when dissolved in the testing solution at ≥50 ppm, whereas gravimetric results displayed a similar tendency. Microtox testing indicated a correlation with the molecular structure of inhibitors. Apparently, a long aliphatic chain (C > 12) promoted not only higher corrosion efficiency, but also a higher toxicity. The higher efficiency of dodecyl amine of tyrosine was apparently derived from its longer aliphatic chain, with some contribution from its phenyl ring, which reinforces the molecular interactions of π type bonding to the d orbital metal favouring film formation.  相似文献
