A new microcalorimeter for measurements in 3.5-mm coaxial line 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A new microcalorimeter has been realized for implementing the national power standard up to 26.5 GHz in a 3.5-mm coaxial line at the Istituto Elettrotecnico Nazionale (IEN) Galileo Ferraris, Turin, Italy. The system is based on a dry thermostatic cell controlled by Peltier elements. The thermal load consists of a twin sensor system that is alternately supplied with high frequency test power and low frequency or direct current (DC) reference power through adiabatic coaxial lines. This microcalorimeter was originally designed for calibrating bolometric mounts. Recently, it has been modified for thermocouple power sensors, which can operate from DC to 26.5 GHz in a 3.5-mm coaxial line. 相似文献

Neuramide (NMD), a substance found in crude preparations of porcine stomach extract, is a viral inhibitor that also has putative immunostimulatory effects. The effects of NMD on stress-hormone (ACTH and prolactin-PRL) release were assessed in in vivo and in vitro studies. In the former, blood levels of corticosterone and PRL were measured in NMD-treated male rats. In vitro experiments were performed to evaluate the effects of NMD and three of its fractions (obtained with high performance liquid chromatography) on ACTH and PRL release from perfused rat pituitary slices. NMD increased plasma corticosterone levels in vivo and produced dose-dependent increases in in vitro pituitary release of ACTH. No effects on PRL secretion were observed in vivo or in vitro. The stimulatory effects on ACTH release were caused by the NMD fraction with a molecular weight of > 5000 < 10000 Da. 相似文献

An investigation of the application of supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) extraction to the deacidification of olive oils has been made to verify that the nutritional properties of the oil remain
unchanged when this technique is applied.
Preliminary runs at 20 and 30 MPa in the temperature range of 35–60°C were performed on fatty acids and triglycerides as pure
compounds or mixtures, to determine their solubility in SC-CO2. The solubility data obtained show that CO2 extracts fatty acids more selectively than triglycerides under specific conditions of temperature and pressure (60°C and
20 MPa). It has been noted that the physical state of the solutes plays an important role in determining the solubility trends
as a function of temperature and pressure.
Extraction of free fatty acids from olive oil was performed on samples with different free fatty acid (FFA) contents at 20
and 30 MPa and at 40 and 60°C. Experimental data suggest that the selectivity factor for fatty acids is higher than 5 and
increases significantly as the fatty acid concentration of the oil decreases. For a FFA content of 2.62%, the selectivity
reaches a value of 16.
In order to evaluate any variations in the composition, several SC-CO2 extractions of husk oil with high FFA content (29.3%) were made. The results show that selectivity is still significant (≈5)
and the composition in the minor component of the deacidified oil has not changed. On the basis of the experimental results
and preliminary process evaluations, the authors conclude that SC-CO2 extraction could be a suitable technique for the deacidification of olive oils, especially for oils with relatively high

Peptidoglycan, a key constituent of bacterial cell walls, is currently the target of broad spectrum antibiotics and a new research field involves both design and synthesis of inhibitors of its biosynthesis. Most bacteria require either lysine, or its biosynthetic precursor, diaminopimelate (meso-DAP), as a component of the peptidoglycan layer of the cell wall. In this paper, molecular modelling studies were undertaken in order to shed light on the molecular basis of interaction between (2S,6S)-diaminopimelic acid (l,l-DAP) (1) with its target enzyme DAP-epimerase, since this is a key step in the lysine biosynthetic path leading to (2R,6S)-diaminopimelic acid (meso-DAP) (2). In particular, the docking of the ligand-enzyme complex was studied by means of MD simulations and DFT computations in order to ascertain the optimal structural requirements for the epimerization reaction. Molecular dynamics simulations clearly showed that the configuration of the distal carbon C6 of l,l-DAP is critical for complex formation since both amino and carboxylate groups are involved in Hbonding interactions with the active site residues. Furthermore, the interactions occurring between the functional groups bonded to the C2 and some residues of the binding cavity immobilize the ligand in a position appropriate for the epimerization reaction, i.e., exactly in the middle of the two catalytic residues Cys73 and Cys217 as confirmed by DFT quantum mechanical computation of the Michaelis complex. All this mechanistic information could be useful for the rational design of new potential antibiotic drugs effective as inhibitors of peptidoglycan biosynthesis. 相似文献

Luster is a decorative metallic film that was applied on the surface of medieval glazed pottery. It can be obtained via the low-temperature (∼650°C), controlled reduction of copper and silver compounds. In this paper, we show that luster is a thin layered film (200–500 nm thick) that contains metallic spherical nanocrystals dispersed in a silicon-rich matrix and has a metal-free outermost glassy layer that is 10–20 nm thick. Silver nanocrystals seem to be separated from those of copper, forming aggregates 5–100 μm in diameter. This composite structure exhibits optical properties that are dependent on both the particle size and the matrix. Luster is indeed the first reproducible nanostructured thin metallic film that was made by humans. 相似文献

The histopathology specimens from 256 consecutive prostatectomies were retrospectively analysed and classified into three categories namely BPH alone, BPH and an inflammatory lesion and adenocarcinoma. Mode of presentation (acute urine retention versus prostatism) as well as short term post-operative complications, namely, haemorrhage and genitourinary infection were compared in the three histological categories to study the impact of histology on clinical presentation and complications. There were no significant differences between the three categories neither in presentation nor in complications. We conclude that prostate gland histology neither correlates with the onset of acute urine retention nor with the surgical complications studied in this report. 相似文献
