A bio-inspired model for an analog programmable array processor (APAP), based on studies on the vertebrate retina, has permitted the realization of complex programmable spatio-temporal dynamics in VLSI. This model mimics the way in which images are processed in the visual pathway, what renders a feasible alternative for the implementation of early vision tasks in standard technologies. A prototype chip has been designed and fabricated in 0.5 /spl mu/m CMOS. It renders a computing power per silicon area and power consumption that is amongst the highest reported for a single chip. The details of the bio-inspired network model, the analog building block design challenges and trade-offs and some functional tests results are presented in this paper.  相似文献

Raspberry pomace extracts isolated with supercritical carbon dioxide (SCE) and pressurised ethanol/water (ETE) were tested in beef burgers. Only ETE additives effectively inhibited lipid oxidation and the growth of microorganisms, as it was observed by measuring the changes of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances, bacterial counts and the content of O2 and CO2 during storage in the modified atmosphere package. ETE additives also demonstrated some meat colour preservation effects, which were assessed by the intensity of hamburger colour and metmyoglobin concentration. However, ETE additives did not alter burger's taste at the applied concentrations (up to 1%). It may be concluded that the most effective extracts possessing strong antioxidant and antimicrobial activity may be isolated from raspberry pomace by the pressurised liquid extraction with a hydroethanolic solvent; such extracts may be considered as promising additives in meat products for improving their stability and enriching with beneficial to health phytochemicals.  相似文献

Neuromuscular disease commonly affects the rearfoot as equinus, equinovarus, and equinovalgus deformity. Spastic hemiplegia caused by stroke, head injury, and cerebral palsy results in equinovarus deformity of the rearfoot. Spastic diplegia, most frequently caused by cerebral palsy, results in equinovalgus rearfoot deformity. Problems in ambulation, footwear, and bracing, as well as their orthopedic management, in patients with neuromuscular disease are discussed in a case-report format.  相似文献

The present study characterises garden strawberry leaf extract and reports its effect on shelf life and quality characteristics of fish oil. Radical scavenging capacity of the extract in DPPH? and ABTS?+ assays was equivalent to 1207 and 1579 μmol g?1 of trolox equivalents, respectively, total phenolic content was 257 mg g?1 of gallic acid equivalents. Phenolic and volatile constituents were analysed by liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). The extract was added to fish oil and its oxidation was followed during 42 days: peroxide, p‐anisidine values and hexanal concentration were lower in the samples with extract, particularly at the end of storage. The effect of extract on fatty acid composition was not significant, however the changes in the percentages of some individual acids were observed. Fish oil containing 5% of extract had lower levels of lipid oxidation in comparison to other samples. The results indicate that strawberry leaves could be a potential source of natural antioxidants.  相似文献

Solitary endobronchial papillomas in adults are rare neoplasms. Only sporadic cases have been documented. The histologic classification of these tumors remains problematic, and little is known about their clinical behavior. The clinical and pathologic features of 13 endobronchial papillomas and a single endobronchiolar papilloma were reviewed. In situ hybridization for human papillomavirus (HPV) types 6/11, 16/18, and 31/33/51 was performed on seven cases. Twenty-seven additional well-documented cases were identified in a literature review. Human papillomavirus studies were performed in four of the previously reported cases. The 41 neoplasms combined from the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology and literature review were divided into three groups according to their histologic features. Thirty-one of 41 (76%) patients were men. The ages of the patients ranged from 26 to 74 years (median, 57 years). Three morphologically distinct histologic types were recognized; 27 squamous cell papillomas, 7 glandular papillomas, and 7 mixed squamous and glandular papillomas. Squamous papillomas: 23 of 27 (85%) patients were men, and the median age was 54 years. Six of eleven (55%) of these patients smoked. Twenty-six lesions were exophytic and a single lesion had an inverted pattern. Seven of 24 (29%) lesions featured cytologic atypia and 5 of 24 (14%) had viral cytopathic effect. Five of seven (71%) cases examined for HPV DNA were positive. Three of 18 (17%) recurred. Glandular papillomas: Four of seven (57%) patients were women. The mean age was 67 years. One of five (20%) patients smoked. Five lesions were central, and two were peripheral. Four lesions had columnar epithelium, and three had ciliated epithelium. One of six (17%) lesions recurred. Mixed papillomas: five of seven (71%) patients were men. The median age was 64 years. Three of five (60%) patients smoked. Three of seven (43%) lesions featured cytologic atypia. Four of five lesions were examined for HPV DNA and all were negative. No lesions recurred. This study demonstrates that solitary endobronchial papillomas can be separated into three distinct morphologic categories. Squamous cell and mixed papillomas are predominantly lesions of male smokers in their 6th decade. Although cytologic atypia is observed in many cases, the rarity of these tumors and difficulty in separating papillomas from endobronchial papillary squamous carcinomas make generalizations regarding the risk of progression to carcinoma tenuous at best. Human papillomavirus appears to play a pathogenetic role in some squamous cell papillomas, but not in mixed papillomas, yet its presence in the squamous lesions does not correlate with recurrence or malignancy. The first report of an inverted squamous cell papilloma indicates clinical features similar to the more common exophytic squamous cell papillomas. Glandular papillomas, the rarest of all endobronchial papillomas, are found in an older age group than squamous and mixed papillomas, and most-patients are nonsmokers. Based on these findings, all endobronchial papillomas should be completely excised.  相似文献

Adenylate kinase and downstream AMP signaling is an integrated metabolic monitoring system which reads the cellular energy state in order to tune and report signals to metabolic sensors. A network of adenylate kinase isoforms (AK1-AK7) are distributed throughout intracellular compartments, interstitial space and body fluids to regulate energetic and metabolic signaling circuits, securing efficient cell energy economy, signal communication and stress response. The dynamics of adenylate kinase-catalyzed phosphotransfer regulates multiple intracellular and extracellular energy-dependent and nucleotide signaling processes, including excitation-contraction coupling, hormone secretion, cell and ciliary motility, nuclear transport, energetics of cell cycle, DNA synthesis and repair, and developmental programming. Metabolomic analyses indicate that cellular, interstitial and blood AMP levels are potential metabolic signals associated with vital functions including body energy sensing, sleep, hibernation and food intake. Either low or excess AMP signaling has been linked to human disease such as diabetes, obesity and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Recent studies indicate that derangements in adenylate kinase-mediated energetic signaling due to mutations in AK1, AK2 or AK7 isoforms are associated with hemolytic anemia, reticular dysgenesis and ciliary dyskinesia. Moreover, hormonal, food and antidiabetic drug actions are frequently coupled to alterations of cellular AMP levels and associated signaling. Thus, by monitoring energy state and generating and distributing AMP metabolic signals adenylate kinase represents a unique hub within the cellular homeostatic network.  相似文献

Radioligand therapy targeting the prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) is rapidly evolving as a promising treatment for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer. The PSMA-targeting ligand p-SCN-Bn-TCMC-PSMA (NG001) labelled with 212Pb efficiently targets PSMA-positive cells in vitro and in vivo. The aim of this preclinical study was to evaluate the therapeutic potential of 212Pb-NG001 in multicellular tumour spheroid and mouse models of prostate cancer. The cytotoxic effect of 212Pb-NG001 was tested in human prostate C4-2 spheroids. Biodistribution at various time points and therapeutic effects of different activities of the radioligand were investigated in male athymic nude mice bearing C4-2 tumours, while long-term toxicity was studied in immunocompetent BALB/c mice. The radioligand induced a selective cytotoxic effect in spheroids at activity concentrations of 3–10 kBq/mL. In mice, the radioligand accumulated rapidly in tumours and was retained over 24 h, while it rapidly cleared from nontargeted tissues. Treatment with 0.25, 0.30 or 0.40 MBq of 212Pb-NG001 significantly inhibited tumour growth and improved median survival with therapeutic indexes of 1.5, 2.3 and 2.7, respectively. In BALB/c mice, no signs of long-term radiation toxicity were observed at activities of 0.05 and 0.33 MBq. The obtained results warrant clinical studies to evaluate the biodistribution, therapeutic efficacy and toxicity of 212Pb-NG001.  相似文献

The recovery of damaged peripheral nerves has been the subject of multiple studies. The effects of an inadvertent clamping of a nerve has not been well examined. An experiment was performed to evaluate the effects of a minimal-duration crush injury on the rat sciatic nerve and to determine if walking track analysis was useful in evaluating the short-term functional deficit. Ten Sprague-Dawley rats underwent high-pressure, short-duration crush injuries. Walking track analysis was done regularly for 3 weeks. Histological specimens for light and electron microscopy were taken at postoperative days 3, 7, 14, 21, and 42 from similar animals. There was significant decrease in function by the second week, which then improved to control levels after week 3. Toluidine blue and electron microscopic findings confirmed the clinical course, while routine histological findings tended to lag behind the return of function. Walking track analysis appears to be an effective method of evaluating the short-duration nerve crush injury.  相似文献
