In recent studies, the life span of stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive (SHRSP) rats was altered by a variety of dietary fats. It was relatively shorter in rats fed canola oil as the sole source of fat. The present study was performed to find out whether the fatty acid profile and the high content of sulfur compounds in canola oil could modulate the life span of SHRSP rats. SHRSP rats (47 d old, n=23/group) were matched by body weight and systolic blood pressure and fed semipurified diets containing 10% canola oil, high-palmitic canola oil, low-sulfur canola oil, soybean oil, high-oleic safflower oil, a fat blend that mimicked the fatty acid composition of canola oil, or a fat blend high in saturated fatty acids. A 1% sodium chloride solution was used as drinking water to induce hypertension. After consuming the diets for 37 d, five rats from each dietary group were killed for collection of blood and tissue samples for biochemical analysis. The 18 remaining animals from each group were used for determining their life span. The mean survival time of SHRSP rats fed canola oil (87.4±4.0 d) was not significantly different (P>0.05) from those fed low-sulfur canola oil (89.7±8.5 d), suggesting that content of sulfur in canola oil has no effect on the life span of SHRSP rats. The SHRSP rats fed the noncanola oil-based diets lived longer (mean survival time difference was 6–13 d, P<0.05) than those fed canola and low-sulfur canola oils. No marked differences in the survival times were observed among the noncanola oil-based groups. The fatty acid composition of the dietary oils and of red blood cells and liver of SHRSP rats killed after 37 d of treatment showed no relationship with the survival times. These results suggest that the fatty acid profile of vegetable oils plays no important role on the life span of SHRSP rat. However, phytosterols in the dietary oils and in liver and brain were inversely correlated with the mean survival times, indicating that the differential effects of vegetable oils might be ascribed, at least partly, to their different phytosterol contents.  相似文献

Any sniffer can see the information sent through unprotected ‘probe request messages’ and ‘probe response messages’ in wireless local area networks (WLAN). A station (STA) can send probe requests to trigger probe responses by simply spoofing a genuine media access control (MAC) address to deceive access point (AP) controlled access list. Adversaries exploit these weaknesses to flood APs with probe requests, which can generate a denial of service (DoS) to genuine STAs. The research examines traffic of a WLAN using supervised feed-forward neural network classifier to identify genuine frames from rogue frames. The novel feature of this approach is to capture the genuine user and attacker training data separately and label them prior to training without network administrator’s intervention. The model’s performance is validated using self-consistency and fivefold cross-validation tests. The simulation is comprehensive and takes into account the real-world environment. The results show that this approach detects probe request attacks extremely well. This solution also detects an attack during an early stage of the communication, so that it can prevent any other attacks when an adversary contemplates to start breaking into the network.  相似文献

A combined capillary gas liquid chromatography (GLC) and infrared spectrophotometry (IR) method is described for the determination ofcis andtrans-octadecenoic acids in margarines made from partially hydrogenated vegetable oils. The totaltrans-unsaturation of margarine fatty acid methyl esters determined by IR, with methyl elaidate as the external standard, was correlated to the capillary GLC weight percentages of the componenttrans fatty acid methyl esters by the mathematical formula: IRtrans=%18∶1t+0.84×%18.2t+1.74×%18∶2tt+ 0.84×%18∶3t where 0.84, 1.74 and 0.84 are the correction factors which relate the GLC weight percentages to the IRtrans-equivalents for mono-trans-octadecadienoic (18∶2t),trans, trans-octadecadienoic (18∶2tt) and mono-trans-octadecatrienoic (18∶3t) acids, respectively. This formula forms the basis for the determination of totaltrans-andcis-octadecenoic acids in partially hydrogenated vegetable oils. From the weight percentages of 18∶2t, 18∶2tt and 18∶3t determined by capillary GLC on a cyanosilicone liquid phase and the totaltrans-unsaturation by IR, the percentage of the totaltrans-octadecenoic acids (18∶1t) is calculated using the formula. The difference between the total octadecenoic acids (18∶1), determined by capillary GLC, and the 18∶1t gives the totalcis-octadecenoic acids. A capillary electrophoresis mass spectrometry (CE-MS) interface utilizing a flow-through microvial is used to ensure the electric continuity and supply the catholyte and mobilizer solutions during the capillary isoelectric focusing (cIEF) and mobilization process. The flow-through microvial provides a stable chemical environment and helps to improve the ionization efficiency without significantly diluting the analyte. The CE-MS interface facilitates the transfer of the mobilized cIEF effluent to the site of electrospray ionization, and the gaseous ions can be detected directly by a mass spectrometer. It also allows for complete focusing and mobilization processes to be performed automatically in programmed sequences with commercial CE systems. Two different strategies, using either a part of the capillary or the flow-through microvial of the CE-MS interface as the catholyte reservoir for bare fused silica capillaries or neutral coated capillaries, respectively, were developed for automated cIEF-electrospray ionization (ESI)-MS. Reasonable separation efficiency was achieved using proper concentration of carrier ampholytes and suitable strategies of electroosmotic/electrophoretic mobilization.  相似文献

Refined and bleached Canola oil was hydrogenated with Pricat 9906 catalyst to an iodine value of 65 using various temperatures, pressures and catalyst concentrations. Hydrogenation with this catalyst resulted in great differences in SFI curves of fats with the same IV. Hydrogenation rate, dropping point, trisaturate content and linoleate selectivity were determined. All of the oils hydrogenated to IV 65 contained almost the same amount of solid fat at 20 C. For this reason, the crystal structure of the fats was examined by X-ray diffraction at 20 C. The catalyst was found to be non-selective. Increased selectivity can be obtained by careful temperature and pressure control. Reactivity also is temperature and pressure dependent. High trisaturate content increased instability by promoting formation of β crystals. The catalyst had excellent filterability characteristics.  相似文献

When choosing sites for monitoring of soil moisture for hydrological purposes, a suitable process that considers the factors influencing soil moisture level should be followed. In this study, two multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods, the multi-influencing factor (MIF) method and the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) method, were used to identify the optimal soil moisture monitoring (SMM) sites in the Dry Creek Catchment in South Australia. The most representative areas for nine SMM sites were obtained using the MIF method, considering the factors of rainfall, soil type, land use, catchment slope, elevation, and upslope accumulated area (UAA). The AHP method was used to select the optimal sites using the site-specific criteria. 30.3% of the catchment area in the Australian Water Resources Assessment Landscape (AWRA-L) Grid_DC2 can be considered acceptable as representative area with the MIF method. Four potential sites were evaluated for each AWRA-L grid using the relative weights of the site-specific criteria with the AHP method. The Grid_DC2 required two sites that had the highest overall weight chosen with the AHP analysis. The procedure was repeated for the remaining four AWRA-L grids within the study area to select the required SMM sites.  相似文献

An infrared spectrophotometric procedure, based on the fatty acid methyl ester mixture derived from a partially hydrogenated vegetable oil as the calibration standard, has been developed for accurate analysis of the totaltrans content of hydrogenated fats. This procedure produces more accurate results than the current official methods of Association of Official Analytical Chemists and American Oil Chemists’ Society, both of which use methyl elaidate as the external standard. The results obtained with this procedure were in close agreement to those determined by the combined procedure of silver-nitrate thin-layer chromatography and capillary gas-liquid chromatography. The improved results, obtained with the partially hydrogenated vegetable oil methyl esters as the calibration standard, may be attributable to its assortment oftrans isomers, which may have different absorptivities relative to methyl elaidate.  相似文献
