The coevolution of genomics and proteomics has led to advancements in the field of diagnosis and molecular mechanisms of disease. Proteomics is now stepping into the field of obstetrics, where early diagnosis of pregnancy complication such as preeclampsia (PE) is imperative. PE is a multifactorial disease characterized by hypertension with proteinuria, which is a leading cause of maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality occurring in 5-7% of pregnancies worldwide. This review discusses the probable molecular mechanisms that lead to PE and summarizes the proteomics research carried out in understanding the pathogenicity of PE, and for identifying the candidate biomarker for diagnosis of the disease.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate the antimicrobial effects of carvacrol and cinnamaldehyde incorporated into apple, carrot, and hibiscus‐based edible films against Salmonella Newport in bagged organic leafy greens. The leafy greens tested included organic Romaine and Iceberg lettuce, and mature and baby spinach. Each leafy green sample was washed, dip inoculated with S. Newport (107 CFU/mL), and dried. Each sample was put into a Ziploc® bag. Edible films pieces were put into the Ziploc bag and mixed well. The bags were sealed and stored at 4 °C. Samples were taken at days 0, 3, and 7 for enumeration of survivors. On all leafy greens, 3% carvacrol films showed the best bactericidal effects against Salmonella. All 3 types of 3% carvacrol films reduced the Salmonella population by 5 log10 CFU/g at day 0 and 1.5% carvacrol films reduced Salmonella by 1 to 4 log10 CFU/g at day 7. The films with 3% cinnamaldehyde showed 0.5 to 3 log reductions on different leafy greens at day 7. The films with 0.5% and 1.5% cinnamaldehyde and 0.5% carvacrol also showed varied reductions on different types of leafy greens. Edible films were the most effective against Salmonella on Iceberg lettuce. This study demonstrates the potential of edible films incorporated with carvacrol and cinnamaldehyde to inactivate S. Newport on organic leafy greens.  相似文献

The applicability of palladium for the separation of hydrogen isotopes (hydrogen and deuterium) is evaluated systematically by generating isotherm data and conducting column experiments in a laboratory set-up. Effect of various parameters such as concentration of the isotopic mixture, particle size, eluent flow rate, etc. is studied experimentally. A fixed-bed chromatographic model is developed and validated using the experimental data. The model is further used to predict the performance of a multi-column configuration for large-scale separation. Chromatographic separation is thus found to be a promising technique to achieve the required purity and hence it may be clubbed with the existing systems (e.g. cryogenic distillation) to obtain enhanced performance.  相似文献

The present prospective study examines proportions of maternal erythrocyte fatty acids across gestation and their association with cord erythrocyte fatty acids in normotensive control (NC) and preeclamptic pregnancies. We hypothesize that maternal fatty acid status in early pregnancy influences fetal fatty acid stores in preeclampsia. 137 NC women and 58 women with preeclampsia were included in this study. Maternal blood was collected at 3 time points during pregnancy (16–20th weeks, 26–30th weeks and at delivery). Cord blood was collected at delivery. Fatty acids were analyzed using gas chromatography. The proportions of maternal erythrocyte α‐linolenic acid, docosahexaenoic acid, nervonic acid, and monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) (p < 0.05 for all) were lower while total n‐6 fatty acids were higher (p < 0.05) at 16–20th weeks of gestation in preeclampsia as compared with NC. Cord 18:3n‐3, 22:6n‐3, 24:1n‐9, MUFA, and total n‐3 fatty acids (p < 0.05 for all) were also lower in preeclampsia as compared with NC. A positive association was observed between maternal erythrocyte 22:6n‐3 and 24:1n‐9 at 16–20th weeks with the same fatty acids in cord erythrocytes (p < 0.05 for both) in preeclampsia. Our study for the first time indicates alteration in maternal erythrocyte fatty acids at 16th weeks of gestation which is further reflected in cord erythrocytes at delivery in preeclampsia.  相似文献

The nanocomposites of NiCuZnFe2O4-SiO2 were prepared using Microwave-Hydrothermal method at 160°C/45 min.The as-synthesized powders were characterized using X-ray diffraction and Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM).The average particle size of the powders were found to be ~20 nm.The powders were densified at 900°C/30 min using Microwave sintering method. The sintered composite samples were characterized using XRD and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Crystallite size of the ferrites decreases with an increase of SiO2 content. The density of the composites varies of 93–98% of theoretical density. The densities of the present composites were increasing with the addition of SiO2. The bulk densities of the present composites were increasing with the addition of SiO2. The structural changes in these samples were characterized using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR) in the 400–4000 cm?1. The bands in the range of 580–880 cm?1 show a slight increase in intensity, which could be ascribed to the enhanced interactions between the NiCuZnFe2O4 clusters and silica matrix. The resistivity of the sintered samples was increased with an addition of ferrite content. The real and imaginary parts of permittivity and permeability were measured in the frequency range of 1 MHz–1.8 GHz.The addition of SiO2 alters the values of dielectric constant and permeability which is useful to the Multilayer Chip Inductors (MLCI) fabrication.  相似文献

Stearoyl-CoA desaturase activity and the fatty acid composition of lipids of adipose tissue and liver were determined in 35- and 180-day-old cardiomyopathic hamsters and age-matched normal controls. Enzyme activity was unchanged in the adipose tissue of 35-day-old animals but was significantly depressed in the 180-day-old cardiomyopathic hamsters. In the liver, stearoyl-CoA desaturase activity was significantly lower in the 35-day-old disease animals but was unchanged in the 180-day-old animals. The analysis of the fatty acid composition of the lipids isolated from adipose tissue showed an increase in the relative percentage of saturated fatty acids accompanied by a decrease in the relative percentage of unsaturated fatty acids in both age groups of the cardiomyopathic hamsters. However, linoleic acid content was increased in the diseased animals. Similar changes in fatty acid composition of lipids from the livers of 35-day-old cardiomyopathic hamsters were observed, but no significant differences in the fatty acid composition between 180-day-old cardiomyopathic hamsters and normal controls were observed. The changes in the fatty acid composition appear to be related to the observed changes in desaturase activity. In is concluded that such changes in desaturase activity and fatty acid composition could affect the normal structure and functions of membranes and membrane-related processes.  相似文献

Context: Nanosuspensions (NSs) of poorly water-soluble drugs are known to increase the oral bioavailability.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to develop NS of efavirenz (EFV) and to investigate its potential in enhancing the oral bioavailability of EFV.

Materials and methods: EFV NS was prepared using the media milling technique. The Box–Behnken design was used for optimization of the factors affecting EFV NS. Sodium lauryl sulfate and PVP K30 were used to stabilize the NS. Freeze-dried NS was completely re-dispersed with double-distilled filtered water.

Results: Mean particle size and zeta potential of the optimized NS were found to be 320.4?±?3.62?nm and –32.8?±?0.4 mV, respectively. X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetric analysis indicated no phase transitions. Rate and extent of drug dissolution in the dissolution medium for NS was significantly higher compared to marketed formulation. The parallel artificial membrane permeability assay revealed that NS successfully enhanced the permeation of EFV. Results of in situ absorption studies showed a significant difference in absorption parameters such as Ka, t1/2 and uptake percentages between lyophilized NS and marketed formulation of EFV. Oral bioavailability of EFV in rabbits resulting from NS was increased by 2.19-fold compared to the marketed formulation.

Conclusion: Thus, it can be concluded that NS formulation of EFV can provide improved oral bioavailability due to enhanced solubility, dissolution velocity, permeability and hence absorption.  相似文献

The Sm3+ doped Y3?xSmxFe5O12 (x = 0–3) nanopowders were prepared using modified sol–gel route. The crystalline structure and morphology was confirmed by X-ray diffraction and atomic force microscopy. The nanopowders were sintered at 950 °C/90 min using microwave sintering method. The lattice parameters and density of the samples were increased with an increase of Sm3+ concentration. The room temperature dielectric (ε′ and ε″) and magnetic (μ′ and μ″) properties were measured in the frequency range up to 20 GHz. The room temperature magnetization studies were carried out using Vibrating sample magnetometer using filed of 1.5 T. Results of VSM show that the saturation and remnant magnetization of Y3?xSmxFe5O12 (0–3) decreases on increasing the Sm concentration (x). The low values of magnetic (μ′ and μ″) properties makes them a good candidates for microwave devices, which can be operated in the high frequency range.  相似文献
