ABSTRACT

Current health situations have instigated increased frequency of taking antibiotics for cure of infections but this amplified use is posing threats to environment. This research is focused to remove Tetracycline (TC), an antibiotic from water, using an advanced nanohybrid that compact the properties of adsorbent and photocatalyst. Compared to conventional methods for remediation of TC, large surface area (452 m2g?1) adsorbent photocatalyst hybrid (APH) g-C3N4/α-MoO3/ZIF-67 (CMZ) have found much effective as 97% degradation of TC is observed in 110 min with 0.1 g of APH. Increasing g-C3N4 in the hybrids has improved percent degradation of TC molecules. CMZ-3 is found as a potential candidate for water treatment.  相似文献

Chaotic natural convection flow of a molten gallium in a square enclosure with the upper and lower surfaces being insulated was studied by two-dimensional numerical simulation. Constant temperatures are imposed along the left and right walls of the enclosure with a volumetrically heated enclosure. In addition, a nonuniform partially active magnetic field is applied in a vertical direction. The flux lines spread out into a fringing field so the effective cross-sectional area of the gap is larger than that of the pole face. A chaotic regime is considered under steady state boundary condition. This study was done for an internal Rayleigh number of 107, external Rayleigh number of 105, and Prandtl number of 0.024. The study covers various magnet pole effect widths of 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 from enclosure width and the magnetic field strength ranges 0.0 ≤ B o  ≤ 10 Tesla. The transport equations for continuity, momentum, and energy are solved. The numerical results are reported for the effect of the partially active magnetic field on the velocity vectors, counters of temperature, streamline, and heat transfer coefficient. The numerical study shows that a magnetic field is damping chaotic oscillation behavior and decreases the amplitude of oscillation. Also, at a certain magnetic field strength the chaotic flow tend to becomes periodic flow at certain amplitude and frequency, and at high magnetic field strength the flow in the square enclosure flow tends to become steady laminar flow with stable average Nusselt number values; so, the random oscillation behavior disappeared. The effect of a nonuniform magnetic field tends to push the fluid to flow away from magnetic field region.  相似文献

The amino acid motif LDV is the principal binding site for alpha4 integrins in fibronectin, and homologous motifs are recognized in vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 and MAdCAM-1. Three conserved LDV motifs (LDV-1 to 3) occur in the ectodomain of the human and mouse alpha4-subunit, the functions of which are unknown. We demonstrate here that alpha4-transfected fibroblasts with mutation in LDV-1 (D489N) behaved like alpha4-wild type but that LDV-2 (D698N) and LDV-3 (D811N) mutants were impaired in binding and spreading on alpha4-specific substrates. On the RGD-containing fibronectin fragment FN-120 there was an inverse behavior; now the alpha4-wild type and the LDV-1 mutant could not adhere whereas the two other mutants could. The beta1 chain was critical for the differential integrin response. Biochemical analysis demonstrated that the LDV-2 and -3 mutations reduced the strength of the alpha4beta1 association, favored the formation of alpha5beta1, and prevented the expression of alpha4beta7 on the cell surface. Our results indicate that LDV-2 and LDV-3 are critical for the formation of a functional heterodimer. The presence of similar amino acid motifs in ligands and the alpha4-subunit suggest that metal coordination plays an important role in integrin-ligand binding as well as for heterodimer formation.  相似文献

Introduction: CD24 is a mucin-like glycoprotein expressed at the surface of hematopoietic and tumor cells and was recently shown to be expressed in the first trimester placenta. As it was postulated as an immune suppressor, CD24 may contribute to maternal immune tolerance to the growing fetus. Preeclampsia (PE), a major pregnancy complication, is linked to reduced immune tolerance. Here, we explored the expression of CD24 in PE placenta in preterm and term cases. Methods: Placentas were derived from first and early second trimester social terminations (N = 43), and third trimester normal term delivery (N = 67), preterm PE (N = 18), and preterm delivery (PTD) (N = 6). CD24 expression was determined by quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) and Western blotting. A smaller cohort included 3–5 subjects each of term and early PE, and term and preterm delivery controls analyzed by immunohistochemistry. Results: A higher expression (2.27-fold) of CD24 mRNA was determined in the normal term delivery compared to first and early second trimester cases. The mRNA of preterm PE cases was only higher by 1.31-fold compared to first and early second trimester, while in the age-matched PTD group had a fold increase of 5.72, four times higher compared to preterm PE. The delta cycle threshold (ΔCt) of CD24 mRNA expression in the preterm PE group was inversely correlated with gestational age (r = 0.737) and fetal size (r = 0.623), while correlation of any other group with these parameters was negligible. Western blot analysis revealed that the presence of CD24 protein in placental lysate of preterm PE was significantly reduced compared to term delivery controls (p = 0.026). In immunohistochemistry, there was a reduction of CD24 staining in villous trophoblast in preterm PE cases compared to gestational age-matched PTD cases (p = 0.042). Staining of PE cases at term was approximately twice higher compared to preterm PE cases (p = 0.025) but not different from normal term delivery controls. Conclusion: While higher CD24 mRNA expression levels were determined for normal term delivery compared to earlier pregnancy stages, this expression level was found to be lower in preterm PE cases, and could be said to be linked to reduced immune tolerance in preeclampsia.  相似文献
