A method has been developed for fabricating polymer microstructures based on electric field induced self assembly and pattern formation. A dielectric fluid placed in between two conductive plates experience a force in an applied electric field gradient across the plates, which can induce a diffusive surface instability and self construction of the fluid surface. This process is exploited for the fabrication of self assembled polymer microstructures as well as replicated patterns through the use of pre-patterned plates or electrodes. FEM simulation is used to decide the minimum wavelength and electric gradient distribution of polymer structures. A variety of structures in the micron and nanometer scales including bio-fluidic MEMS, polymer optoelectronic devices can be fabricated using this method.  相似文献

Food products can be high‐pressure processed (HPP) either in bulk or prepackaged in flexible or semi‐rigid packaging materials. In the latter case the packaging material is subjected, together with the food, to high‐pressure treatment. A number of studies have been performed to quantify the effects of high‐pressure processing on the physical and barrier properties of the packaging material, since the integrity of the package during and after processing is of paramount importance to the safety and quality of the food product. Heat evolution of high-volume fly ash concrete   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
In this paper, the results of a laboratory investigation conducted with heat evolution of high-volume fly ash (HVFA) concrete are presented. Heat evolution of concrete was studied by measuring the temperature increase in concrete under adiabatic curing condition. Characteristic of heat evolution of fly ash concrete was found to be strongly dependent on the replacement level of fly ash and dosage of superplasticizer used to maintain workability. It was also found that using fly ash as cement replacement resulted in a reduction on the maximum temperature rise. Increasing the replacement level of fly ash caused lower temperature rise in concrete. Superplasticizer caused a delay in peak temperature rise time; this is taken as an indicator that high-dosage superplasticizer used in concrete caused retardation in hydration of cement. Concretes having similar ingredients showed similar peak temperature rise whether they are superplasticized or not.  相似文献

Synthesis of high-purity, single-phase gallium nitride powder has been achieved in a hot-wall tube furnace via (i) the reaction of gallium with ammonia (NH3) and (ii) the conversion of gallium oxide (Ga2O3). For complete reaction, the optimum temperatures, NH3 flow rates, and boat positions relative to the NH3 inlet were 975°C, 400 standard cubic centimeters per minute (sccm), and 50 cm, respectively, for the gallium-NH3 reaction, and 1050°C, 500 sccm, and 50 cm, respectively, for the Ga2O3 conversion. Polyhedra of various shapes were obtained from both processes; some rod-shaped crystals also were observed in the material derived from Ga2O3.  相似文献

Multi‐view reconstruction aims at computing the geometry of a scene observed by a set of cameras. Accurate 3D reconstruction of dynamic scenes is a key component for a large variety of applications, ranging from special effects to telepresence and medical imaging. In this paper we propose a method based on Moving Least Squares surfaces which robustly and efficiently reconstructs dynamic scenes captured by a calibrated set of hybrid color+depth cameras. Our reconstruction provides spatio‐temporal consistency and seamlessly fuses color and geometric information. We illustrate our approach on a variety of real sequences and demonstrate that it favorably compares to state‐of‐the‐art methods.  相似文献

Reinforced concrete shear walls are used in tall buildings for efficiently resisting lateral loads. Due to the low tensile strength of concrete, reinforced concrete shear walls tend to behave in a nonlinear manner with a significant reduction in stiffness, even under service loads. To accurately assess the lateral deflection of shear walls, the prediction of flexural and shear stiffness of these members after cracking becomes important. In the present study, an iterative analytical procedure which considers the cracking in the reinforced concrete shear walls has been presented. The effect of concrete cracking on the stiffness and deflection of shear walls have also been investigated by the developed computer program based on the iterative procedure. In the program, the variation of the flexural stiffness of a cracked member has been evaluated by ACI and probability-based effective stiffness model. In the analysis, shear deformation which can be large and significant after development of cracks is also taken into account and the variation of shear stiffness in the cracked regions of members has been considered by using effective shear stiffness model available in the literature. Verification of the proposed procedure has been confirmed from series of reinforced concrete shear wall tests available in the literature. Comparison between the analytical and experimental results shows that the proposed analytical procedure can provide an accurate and efficient prediction of both the deflection and flexural stiffness reduction of shear walls with different height to width ratio and vertical load. The results of the analytical procedure also indicate that the percentage of shear deflection in the total deflection increases with decreasing height to width ratio of the shear wall.  相似文献

Transdifferentiation of Schwann cells is essential for functional peripheral nerve regeneration after injury. By activating a repair program, Schwann cells promote functional axonal regeneration and remyelination. However, chronic denervation, aging, metabolic diseases, or chronic inflammatory processes reduce the transdifferentiation capacity and thus diminish peripheral nerve repair. It was recently described that the sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor (S1PR) agonist Fingolimod enhances the Schwann cell repair phenotype by activation of dedifferentiation markers and concomitant release of trophic factors resulting in enhanced neurite growth. Since Fingolimod targets four out of five S1PRs (S1P1, S1P3-5) possibly leading to non-specific adverse effects, identification of the main receptor(s) responsible for the observed phenotypic changes is mandatory for future specific treatment approaches. Our experiments revealed that S1P3 dominates and that along with S1P1 acts as the responsible receptor for Schwann cell transdifferentiation as revealed by the combinatory application of specific agonists and antagonists. Targeting both receptors reduced the expression of myelin-associated genes, increased PDGF-BB representing enhanced trophic factor expression likely to result from c-Jun induction. Furthermore, we demonstrated that S1P4 and S1P5 play only a minor role in the adaptation of the repair phenotype. In conclusion, modulation of S1P1 and S1P3 could be effective to enhance the Schwann cell repair phenotype and thus stimulate proper nerve repair.  相似文献

In this study, utilization of whey and grape must were investigated for citric acid production using Yarrowia lipolytica NBRC 1658 and a domestic strain Y. lipolytica 57. In addition to its use as a sole nutrient source, whey was also fortified with glucose or fructose as well as other nutrients. The best results for citric acid production were obtained in the medium containing whey supplemented with fructose. Maximum citric acid concentrations in this medium were 49.23 and 32.65 g/L for the domestic and NBRC 1658 strains, respectively. In grape must, maximum citric acid concentrations obtained using domestic and NBRC 1658 strains were 32.09 and 10.39 g/L, respectively. Both of the natural nutrient sources were found to be promising for utilization in citric acid production process. A domestic Turkish yeast strain was confirmed to be superior for citric acid production for the first time. This can be targeted for enhancing citric acid production efficiencies from locally available substrates such as whey or grape must.  相似文献
