The intrinsic birefringence Δn0 and photoelastic coefficient C of poly(methyl methacrylate), poly(2,2,2‐trifluroethyl methacrylate), poly(phenyl methacrylate), and poly(2,2,3,3,3‐pentafluorophenyl methacrylate) were determined. We categorized these methacrylate polymers into four birefringence‐types, even though their molecular structures differed only by the substituents on the side chains. Based on the results of Δn0 and C, novel polymers that exhibit neither orientational nor photoelastic birefringence, i.e., zero–zero‐birefringence polymers, were designed and synthesized by quaternary copolymerization system. Furthermore, we confirmed that the mechanisms of orientational birefringence and photoelastic birefringence generation were different in these methacrylate polymers. The conformation of the repeat unit of the polymers was nearly constant during the generation of orientational birefringence. In contrast, the conformation of the repeat unit of the polymers changed during the generation of photoelastic birefringence in the glassy state. These findings demonstrated the reasonability of evaluating orientational and photoelastic birefringence separately, as well as the adequacy of the classification of polymers into four birefringence‐types. Given these results and the fact that zero–zero‐birefringence polymers could be prepared successfully by four‐birefringence type monomers, we demonstrated the reasonability of the method for designing the zero–zero‐birefringence polymers. When ground-fault problems occur on a cable line, immediate fault location and restoration are required. Therefore, various new methods to locate the fault point instantaneously have been investigated to replace such conventional methods as the Murray loop method and the pulse radar method [1]. These methods require a long time to locate the fault point. One possible fault location method is to sense the temperature rise following a ground fault using a fiber optic distributed temperature sensor. Application of this method was found feasible through sensing the temperature rise at a ground-fault test using a thermocouple as a temperature sensor with test cables [4]. A power/optical composite cable was prepared experimentally and after verifying its thermal mechanical performance, the temperature rise at an incidence of a fault was determined and the anticipated performance was demonstrated in a ground-fault test. The characteristics of a rotating stall of an impeller and diffuser and the evolution of a vortex generated at the diffuser leading-edge (i.e., the leading-edge vortex (LEV)) in a centrifugal compressor were investigated by experiments and numerical analysis. The results of the experiments revealed that both the impeller and diffuser rotating stalls occurred at 55 and 25 Hz during off-design flow operation. For both, stall cells existed only on the shroud side of the flow passages, which is very close to the source location of the LEV. According to the CFD results, the LEV is made up of multiple vortices. The LEV is a combination of a separated vortex near the leading- edge and a longitudinal vortex generated by the extended tip-leakage flow from the impeller. Therefore, the LEV is generated by the accumulation of vorticity caused by the velocity gradient of the impeller discharge flow. In partial-flow operation, the spanwise extent and the position of the LEV origin are temporarily transmuted. The LEV develops with a drop in the velocity in the diffuser passage and forms a significant blockage within the diffuser passage. Therefore, the LEV may be regarded as being one of the causes of a diffuser stall in a centrifugal compressor.  相似文献

Molybdenum specimens prepared by two processes, powder-metallurgy (PM) and electron-beam melting (EB), were irradiated to a fast neutron fluence of 2.74 × 1024n/m2 (En? 1 MeV) at about 600°C (873 K), and their mechanical properties were studied in detail. It was shown that the degree of irradiation embrittlement in EB-Mo was smaller than that in PM-Mo, which might be caused by stronger grain-boundaries and probably smaller irradiation-hardening in the former. From the relation between the recovery of ductility and microstructural changes in post-irradiation annealed PM-Mo at 800 (1073 K), 1000 (1273 K) and 1200°C (1473 K), it was concluded that the recovery resulted from a decrease of irradiation hardening due to a rearrangement and a disappearance of depleted-zones, dislocation-loops and voids in order with increasing annealing temperature. An anomalous mode of fracture was observed in as-irradiated specimens, which consisted of inhomogeneous deformation, then brittle fracture not at the center but at the root of the deformation neck. This mode was observed in a narrow temperature range near the DBTT. A possible mechanism is discussed.  相似文献

In our previous study, a computer simulation scheme based on Doi-Onuki theory is proposed to simulate the dynamics of the shear-induced phase separation in semi-dilute polymer solutions [KOBUNSHI RONBUNSHU 2007, 64, 324]. The scheme employs Ianniruberto-Marrucci model as a constitutive equation to express the viscoelastic behavior of the solution explicitly. The scheme enables us to simulate the time-evolution of stress as well as that of shear-induced structure upon shear-jump. In this study, we focus on the conformation of polymer chains. The dynamics of the polymer chains agrees with those in the “solvent squeeze” model which interprets the shear-induced phase separation phenomena in semi-dilute polymer solutions by Saito et al. [Macromolecules 1999, 32, 4879].  相似文献

ABSTRACT: Spicy pollack roe products are a popular seafood item made from fish eggs that should be made with salt-cured mature roes of walleye pollack Theragra chalcogramma . Because of high demand and poor catch of walleye pollack, however, spicy pollack roe products are often susceptible to substitution with roes of closely related codfish. In this study, a simple method identifying the ingredients of commercial spicy pollack roe products was developed to differentiate walleye pollack from codfish substitutes such as gray cod Gadus macrocephalus using PCR-RFLP (Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism) analysis. PCR amplification of the mitochondrial cytochrome b gene yielded single fragments commonly from pollack and cod. Direct digestion of the PCR products with Mph 11031 restriction enzyme showed an unique restriction fingerprint only in pollack. This PCR-RFLP analysis enabled the reliable identification of commercial spicy pollack roe products made by only pollack roes from products padded with cod roes. It thus can be useful to expose substitution of pollack roes with lower valued codfish roes in commercial spicy pollack roe products.  相似文献

Bis(triethoxysilyl)-substituted oligothiophene with a moderate π-conjugation length was newly synthesized and polymerized to give a polysilsesquioxane network having oligothiophene units dispersed homogeneously without phase separation. The polymer was fixed on glass or ITO substrate by spin-coating and annealing. The resulting film exhibited a high mechanical strength due to the covalent bonding with the substrates, and was electrochemically stable even after 300 redox cycles in electrolyte solution. Chemical oxidation of the polymer films yielded electrically conductive and almost transparent films.  相似文献

We investigated the shear-induced phase separation and/or concentration fluctuation phenomena in semidilute polymer solution by using computer simulation in 3-dimensional space with Doi-Onuki theory. The enhancement of the concentration fluctuations occurs under shear flow and the scattering function in qx-qz plane exhibits the so-called butterfly pattern as observed experimentally, where qx and qz are the components of the scattering vector for flow direction and neutral direction, respectively. The time changes in the peak position and the intensity at peak position in the scattering function in qx-qz plane can be divided into two regions: the peak position becomes smaller and the peak intensity increases with t, and then the peak position and intensity become constant and the system reaches its steady state. These agree with the experimental results qualitatively. However, the computer simulation results indicate that the peak position at the steady state is almost independent of the shear rate, while the decrease in the peak position at steady state with shear rate has been observed experimentally. This disagreement originates from the use of the simplest constitutive equation in the computer simulation.  相似文献
