Organic polymers were extracted from okra, aloe vera, and hibiscus leaves and used as drag‐reducing additives (DRAs) to enhance the laminar flow in custom‐made microchannels that simulate the human brain vessels. The experiment was conducted using an open‐loop microfluidic system. The flow enhancement performance was evaluated as the function of percentage of flow increment of mucilage additives at different concentrations. Okra mucilage showed greater flow enhancement performance at higher mucilage concentration while both aloe vera and hibiscus mucilage performed better at lower additive concentration. The findings prove the potential of these organic polymers as DRAs to enhance the blood flow.  相似文献

Schiff base complex of copper-functionalized MCM-41 (Cu-complex@MCM-41) was synthesized and used as an efficient and novel heterogeneous catalyst for the oxidative coupling of thiols into corresponding disulfides and oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides using hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as the oxidant. An aliphatic and aromatic series of sulfides and thiols including various functional groups were successfully converted into corresponding products. The all products were obtained in good to excellent yields. The mesoporous catalyst is characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, BET, XRD, SEM, EDS and TGA. Recovery of the catalyst is easily achieved by simple filtration and reused for several consecutive runs without significant loss of its catalytic efficiency.  相似文献

Acrylonitrile/acrylic acid copolymers were synthesized with different mole fractions (1, 2, 5 and 10 mol%) of acrylic acid (AA) in the feed by aqueous suspension polymerization, and bead‐free fibres (295–375 nm in diameter) were made from the copolymers in dimethylformamide solutions by electrospinning. In a heterogeneous system containing electrospun fibre mats, dendritic molecules were grown by reaction between carboxylic acid of AA and –OH groups of citric acid activated by dicyclohexylcarbodiimide. The products were analysed using 1H NMR, 13C NMR and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopies, density determination, scanning electron microscopy, optical microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry and pH response properties. With decreasing AA content, the isotacticity of the copolymers decreases with a more random distribution of the co‐monomers which leads to higher percentage conversions of dendrigraft due to reduced steric hindrance. On the formation of dendrigraft, the percentage conversion of the reactions decreases with an increase of generation number and AA content. A reduction of density for the first generation and then an increase with increasing generation are observed. During oxidation stabilization of fibres with a decrease of AA content and an increase in generation number, the amount of liberated heat increases. Fibres containing more carboxylic groups show significantly greater amounts of swelling/de‐swelling in basic and acidic media, respectively. To be used as nanocarbon fibre precursors, or as active particles for loading with guest molecules, or as pH actuators, the first generation of dendrigrafted fibres are expected to have the greatest potential among the various samples examined. © 2013 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Over the last decade, dendritic structures including hyperbranched polymers, dendrigrafts, dendrons, and dendrimers due to their distinct structural design such as highly branched structure and a large number of reactive end groups have received considerable attention. Among various kind of dendrimer, particularly amine-terminated dendritic materials like polyamidoamine (PAMAM), polypropylene imine (PPI), and polyethylene imine (PEI) have been introduced as the potential candidates in a wide range of areas, particularly in the field of textiles engineering. Hence, this review provides an introduction of amine-terminated dendritic polymers and new potential applications of them in textiles engineering such as improvement of dyeability, salt-free dyeability, antimicrobial activity, long-lasting fragrant fabric, anti-ultraviolet property, drug delivery through fabric, flame retardancy, and wastewater treatment. Regarding the complex synthesis of dendrimers which makes them expensive products, application of amine-terminated hyperbranched polymers provides affordable dendritic polymers to create novel features.  相似文献

In this study, modification of poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) electrospun nanofibrous scaffolds blending with polyethylenimine (PEI) in different blend ratios was performed. The sample with 85:15 blend ratio revealed most promising results, and was selected for further modification with gelatin. It was found that the presence of PEI could enhanced porosity, mechanical properties, surface/bulk hydrophilicity and also gelatin grafting density about five times with positive effect on cell behavior. The results indicated that the limitations of PLLA electrospun nanofibers for potential application as a functional tissue engineering scaffold (i.e., poor cell adhesion and necrosis of host tissues as a result of providing acidic environment while degradation) could be overcome through blending with PEI and grafting with gelatin.  相似文献

Inspired by the effects of a switching surface on the stability of passive dynamic walking (Safa and Naraghi in Robotica 33(01):195–207, 2015; Safa et al. in Nonlinear Dyn. 81(4):2127–2140, 2015), this paper suggests a new control strategy for stabilization of dynamic bipedal locomotion. It verifies that the stability improvement of a dynamic walking system is feasible while preserving the speed, step-length, period, natural dynamics, and the energy effectiveness of the gait. The proposed control policy goes behind the three primary principles: (i) The system’s switching surface has to be replaced by a new one if an external disturbance is induced. (ii) The new switching surface has to be reshaped back into its old style, together with the disturbance rejection. (iii) The stabilization procedure has to be performed with as small energy consumption as possible. Because of the reversibility effects of the switching surfaces in the above rules, the terminology of “Reversible Switching Surfaces” (RSS) is employed to address the control scheme; so the control objective would be the implementation of RSS for a bipedal robotic system. In this paper, this aim is achieved by a kinematically controlled foot scheme that is implemented on a simple structured biped. Based on photonic crystal ring resonators and nonlinear Kerr effect in this paper, we proposed a 2*4 all optical decoder switch. Our proposed structure has two logic input ports and one bias input port. This decoder switch has four output ports. Via these two logic input ports, we control the bias signal to transfer toward which output port. We employed numerical methods such as plane wave expansion and finite difference time domain methods for analyzing the proposed structure.  相似文献
