In this paper, the thermoelectric performance of porous armchair graphene nanoribbons under tensile and compressive strain is investigated as a function of pore morphology and temperature. For all the porous structures irrespective of their pore size, the performance improves at a compressive strain of 10%, while for tensile nature, the minimum cut-off strain required for improved thermoelectric figure of merit (ZT) shows an inverse relation with the pore size. In addition, optimal pore shape geometry can yield better performance, even at lower values of strain. Further analysis reveals that tensile strain is not able to improve the performance at low and intermediate temperatures of around 300 K, whereas tensile/compressive strain is effective in enhancing the performance of porous armchair graphene nanoribbons at higher temperatures. Furthermore, the structures are found to be more sensitive to compressive strain than the tensile one since the effect of compressive strain is found to improve ZT more significantly. Our analysis based on Non-Equilibrium Green’s function calculations suggests a possible route for tailoring the functionality of nanomaterials so as to achieve great potentials for thermoelectric applications at various temperatures.  相似文献

The developmental correlates of diffuse support for the polity and civic commitments were explored in a survey of 1,052 students (mean age = 14.96 years) from African American, Arab American, European American, and Latino American backgrounds. Results of structural equation modeling revealed that regardless of their age, gender, or ethnic background, youth were more likely to believe that America was a just society and to commit to democratic goals if they felt a sense of community connectedness, especially if they felt that their teachers practiced a democratic ethic at school. Discussion focuses on the civic purposes of education in inculcating a sense of identification with the polity in younger generations. Copolymerization of methyl acrylate (MA) with 1‐octene (1‐Oct) was conducted in the presence of free radical initiator, 2,2′‐azobis(2‐methylpropionitrile) (AIBN) using heterogeneous Lewis acid, acidic alumina. The polymers obtained were transparent and highly viscous liquids. The copolymer composition calculated from 1H NMR showed alkene incorporation in the range of 10–61%. The monomodal nature of chromatographic curves corresponding to the molecular weight distribution in gel permeation chromatography (GPC) further confirmed that the polymers obtained are true copolymers. The number–average molecular weights (Mn) of the copolymers were in the range of 1.1 × 104–1.6 × 104 with polydispersity index of 1.75–2.29. The effects of varying the acidic alumina amount, time of polymerization, and monomer infeed on the incorporation of 1‐Oct in the polymer chain were studied. Increased 1‐Oct infeed led to its higher inclusion in the copolymer chain as elucidated by NMR. The explosive growth of smart devices has led to the evolution of multimedia data (mainly video) services in mobile networks. It attracted many mobile network operators (MNO) to deploy novel network architectures and develop effective economic policies. Mobile data offloading through smart devices (SDs) by exploring device-to-device (D2D) communications can significantly reduce network congestion and enhance quality of service at a lower cost, which is the key requirement of upcoming 5G networks. This reasonable cost solution is useful for attracting mobile users to participate in the offloading process by paying them proper incentives. It is beneficial for MNOs as well as mobile users. Moreover, D2D communications promise to be one of the prominent services for 5G networks. In this paper, we present a combinatorial optimal reverse auction (CORA) mechanism, which efficiently selects and utilizes available high-end SDs on the basis of available resources for offloading purposes. It also decides the optimal pricing policy for the selected SDs. The efficiency of CORA has been realized in terms of bandwidth and storage demand. Subsequently, we implement caching in SDs, eNodeB (eNB), and evolved packet core (EPC) with the help of our novel video dissemination cache update algorithm to solve the latency or delay issues in the offloading process. Due to high popularity, we specifically focus on video data. Simulation results show that the proposed SD caching scenario curtails the delay up to 75% and the combined cache (CC) scenario slashes the delay varying from 15 to 57%. We also scruitinize the video downloading time performance of various cache scenarios (i.e., CC, EPC cache, eNB cache, and SD cache scenarios).  相似文献

In order to meet the growing demand for mobile multimedia broadcast services 3GPP includes evolved multimedia broadcast and multicast (eMBMS) services in LTE systems. The high data rates, low latency and QoS provisioning makes LTE systems more suitable for mobile broadcast and multicast services than legacy wireless networks. However, the 3GPP standards has not specified any scheduling strategy for this broadcast and multicast services. In this paper, we propose a novel eMBMS scheduling technique (NEST) which focuses on reducing the average waiting time (latency) of the broadcast services offered by LTE system. This paper has twofold contributions. We proffer NEST considering two types of impatience that is user equipment (UE) departure and UE request repetition. Our proposed scheduling strategy estimates the effects originating from the departure of the mobile UEs and UE request repetition case. It intelligently combines the advantages of both flat scheduling and on-demand scheduling in such a way that the overall latency of the system is reduced. We design a suitable modeling framework to analyze the performance of the system. Simulation experiments on typical LTE systems support the performance analysis and demonstrates 10 % gains while comparing with existing eMBMS scheduling available in present LTE systems.  相似文献

A positively charged protein (fish gelatin) or a negatively charged protein species (heat-treated milk protein–carbohydrate mixture) was added to a primary krill oil (KO) emulsion stabilized by the phospholipids inherent in KO, with the aim of improving the oxidative stability of KO-in-water emulsions at pH 8.0 (10 % KO). The positively charged fish gelatin deposited on the primary interface of the oil droplets in the primary KO-in-water emulsion improved the oxidative stability of the KO-in-water emulsion as evidenced by the higher eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) remaining and lower propanal produced after accelerated oxidation (40 °C, 25 days). The addition of the negatively charged heat-treated milk protein–carbohydrate mixture containing Maillard reaction products (MRP) to the bulk phase of the emulsion also enhanced the oxidative stability of the KO-in-water emulsion. The addition of MRP to the aqueous phase of phospholipids stabilized emulsion droplets offered more protection to EPA and DHA of the KO emulsions compared to the formation of an additional layer at the interface of the KO emulsion droplet. This suggests that interventions based on addition of antioxidant species to the formulation were more effective for arresting oxidation than increasing the thickness of the droplet interface. The addition of proteins into KO containing emulsion formulations is a promising strategy for protecting omega-3 marine phospholipids against oxidation.  相似文献

TiCl4 immobilization on different compositions of mixed support of MgCl2 · xEB and poly(methyl acrylate-co-1-octene) (PMO; synthesized through ARGET ATRP) resulted in the formation of solid catalysts having variation in incorporation of titanium. The effect of mixed support composition onto the titanium immobilization, catalyst morphology and performance for ethylene polymerizations has been evaluated. The polyethylenes synthesized showed broad to bimodal MWD in GPC and DSC where the broadness was found to be dependent upon the ratio of mixed support MgCl2 · xEB/PMO. The morphological features of PE as elucidated using SEM lead to postulation of polymer formation mechanism.  相似文献

The effects of the addition of pectin to a primary fish oil emulsion stabilized by a heated milk protein–carbohydrate mixture, and heat treatment of emulsion at low pH (with or without the addition of pectin) on the properties of final emulsions (pH 7) and powders (~42 % w/w/fat) prepared from these emulsions were examined. Either the addition of pectin (without the additional heat treatment at pH 3), or additional heat treatment step at pH 3 (with or without pectin) reduced the surface oil and free oil of spray dried powders, and also reduced oil leakage on powder compression. However, the extra heat treatment step at low pH to the emulsion (without pectin) resulted in a greater susceptibility to oxidation of EPA and DHA in the powder. A judicious choice of ingredients for formulating and processing emulsions prior to spray drying enables the application of food‐grade microencapsulated fish oil powders in directly compressible tablet applications.  相似文献

Poly(1‐octene) was synthesized by polymerization of 1‐octene using high performance MgCl2‐supported TiCl4 in combination with triethyl aluminum (TEAl) as cocatalyst in n‐hexane for 2 h. Two catalysts, C1 (diester catalyst) having di‐isobutyl phthalate as internal donor and C2 (monoester catalyst) having ethyl benzoate as internal donor were utilized for the atmospheric polymerizations to evaluate the influence of structurally different internal donors on the productivity, rate of polymerization and molecular weight profiles. The kinetic profile assessed in terms of variation of reaction parameters like temperature, cocatalyst to catalyst molar ratio and monomer concentration was found to be dependent on them. From these kinetic analyses, optimize conditions for polymerizations of 1‐octene using diester as well as monoester catalyst were elucidated. The difference in the performance of diester and monoester catalyst system can be explained in terms of stability of active titanium species and chain transfer process. We carried out deconvolution of the molecular weight distribution curves from gel permeation chromatography for polyolefins into individual active sites considering Flory distribution by an evolutionary‐computing‐based real‐coded genetic algorithm, a nonlinear multivariate optimization algorithm. We applied the deconvolution to homopolymers of 1‐octene synthesized using heterogeneous Ziegler–Natta catalysts with different amounts of hydrogen. The molecular weight distribution was deconvoluted in to five Flory distributions, which showed a sensitivity to hydrogen amounts. With no hydrogen presence, the peaks corresponding to high‐molecular‐weight fractions were intense. As the amount of hydrogen was increased, not only did the intensities of the high‐molecular‐weight peaks decrease, but also peaks corresponding to low‐molecular‐weight fractions were observed. The method allowed us to determine the active site distribution of the polymer molecular weight distribution obtained from gel permeation chromatography. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
