Cytogenin, 8-hydroxy-3-hydroxymethyl-6-methoxyisocoumarin, has low cytotoxicity on murine and human tumour cells in vitro. It augments or suppresses phagocytosis of macrophages and lymphocyte proliferation. It has been reported that cytogenin has a potent inhibitory effect clinically on adjuvant arthritis in Lewis rats and on type II collagen-induced arthritis in DBA/1J mice. Our experimental findings provide evidence that cytogenin has beneficial effects on spontaneous polyarthritis in MRL/1 mice and pristane-induced arthritis in DBA/1J mice. The results suggest that the mode of the anti-arthritic action of cytogenin is different from those of NSAIDs; although the precise mode of action remains unclear, cytogenin may become an excellent therapeutic agent for rheumatoid arthritis.  相似文献

Pentisomide, 2-(2-diisopropylaminoethyl)-4-methyl-2-(pyridyl)- pentanamide, is a novel antiarrhythmic agent structurally related to disopyramide. Using a glass bead arrhythmic model, the authors studied the antiarrhythmic effect of pentisomide in dogs by monitoring the plasma concentrations. When pentisomide was infused at 1 mg/kg/min for 20 min, the ventricular tachycardia was significantly reduced at 5 min after starting the infusion; the arrhythmias were reduced to less than 5% at the end of the 20 min infusion. The plasma-free concentration of pentisomide was about 3 micrograms/ml at 5 min; it increased to about 10 micrograms/ml at the end of 20 min infusion. With 0.3 mg/kg/min infusion, the arrhythmias were reduced to about 60% but were not significant at 20 min of infusion. The plasma-free concentration of pentisomide did not reach 3 micrograms/ml until 20 min of infusion. The 3 micrograms/ml plasma-free concentration for pentisomide seems to be a critical concentration in inducing a significant antiarrhythmic effect. Pentisomide dose-dependently inhibited ischaemia-reperfusion arrhythmia at doses of 30 microM and higher concentrations in vitro. In conclusion, pentisomide inhibits arrhythmias dependent with the plasma concentration or with the concentration of the external solution. The critical plasma-free concentration for inhibition of arrhythmias was 3 micrograms/ml (not equal to 10 microM) and the in vitro effect also had a similar concentration. Therefore, the in vivo and in vitro antiarrhythmic concentrations were well correlated.  相似文献

Porous and electrically conducting carbon-clay composites were prepared by firing mixtures of carbon powder (0 to 20 wt%) and clay minerals. They showed porosity of 50 to 65% and had high mechanical strength (compressive strength = 130 to 400 kg cm–2) as well as high resistance against thermal oxidation in air. Their electrical conductivity, , increased with increasing carbon content levelling off at about 20 wt% of carbon content to give a value of about 2 S cm–1. Formation of carbon chains is considered to be responsible for the electrical conduction in the composite, and a model to correlate the electrical conductivity with the carbon content has been proposed by modifying a model previously proposed by Scarisbrick.  相似文献

Membrane fouling by suspended solids is a severe problem in reverse osmosis or ultrafiltration of highly fouling feed streams. Tubular membrane systems are inherently fouling resistant and can be automatically mechanically cleaned at regular intervals by a sponge ball cleaning device. The crystallization kinetics of the running filament in melt spinning have been studied for three cases: isothermal crystallization of an isotropic melt, non-isothermal crystallization of an isotropic melt, and non-isothermal crystallization of a non-isotropic melt. Both the temperature and the orientation dependences of nucleation rate and growth rate are estimated for polypropylene. Calculated curves for non-isothermal crystallization of a non-isotropic melt with partial high orientation closely approximate the experimental data. In particular, the experimental data are best explained by crystallization with two-dimensional growth. The crystallization processes in melt spinning may be governed by localized molecular orientation of the supercooled melt in the initial stage.  相似文献

Summary The possibility of group transfer polymerization of methyl methacrylate-terminated polystyrene macromer (MA-PSt) was explored by using 1-methoxy-1-(trimethylsiloxy)-2-methyl-1-propene and tris(dimethylamino)sulfonium difluorotrimethylsilicate as initiator and catalyst, respectively. The results obtained at the polymerization temperature of 0°C were undesirable. However, the oligomerization at -78°C gave almost quantitatively oligo(MA-PSt) of which the degree of polymerization was in good agreement with the mole ratio of macromer to initiator. The GPC curve of oligo(MA-PSt) was sharp and symmetrical. In addition, it was shown by the copolymerization with methyl methacrylate that the polymerizability of the macromer was markedly enhanced in the presence of methyl methacrylate comonomer.  相似文献
