Ba0.85Ca0.15(Ti0.9Zr0.1)1-xFexO3 (x = 0, 0.5, and 1%) ceramics were studied for piezocatalysis, photocatalysis, and pyrocatalysis using dye degradation in the simulated wastewater. The effect of electrical poling was also performed and found a significant impact of poling on all three catalytic reactions. Fe decreased the optical bandgap of Ba0.85Ca0.15Ti0.9Zr0.1O3 (BCZTO) to the visible region. Bandgap for x = 0, 0.005, and 0.01 was found to be 3.14 eV, 2.75 eV, and 2.61 eV, respectively. Interestingly, visible light photocatalytic activity was observed after Fe inclusion in BCZTO lattice. These compositions have also demonstrated dye degradation under ultrasonication (piezocatalytsis) and during temporal temperature change (pyrocatalysis). Results indicate promising multicatalysis in BCZTO ceramics which can be tuned using Fe substitution.  相似文献

The BaTiO3 powder was prepared via a solid-state reaction route. It was studied for the degradation of bacterial cells, dye, and pharmaceuticals waste using ultrasonically driven piezocatalytic effect. The bacterial catalytic behavior of poled BaTiO3 was remarkably increased during ultrasonication (10% E coli survival in 60 minutes). The structural damages were illustrated using scanning electron micrographs of bacterial cells which demonstrated morphological manifestations under different conditions. Methylene blue (MB dye), ciprofloxacin and diclofenac were also cleaned using the piezocatalytic effect associated with the poled BaTiO3 powder. Around 92, 85, and 78% of degradations were observed within 150 minutes duration for methylene blue, ciprofloxacin, and diclofenac, respectively.  相似文献

In this research, we have explored the canonical correlation analysis (CCA) to improve the performance of the identification system that involves multiple correlated modalities. In particular, we consider the electroencephalogram signal of different mental task performed by the subject such as breathing, mental mathematics, and geometric figure rotation, visual counting and mental letter composing. Our motivation based on the fusion of feature vector of mental task using canonical correlation analysis, where feature set extraction using empirical mode decomposition and information theoretic measure and statistical measurement. In order to classify the fused vector from different mental, we have used linear vector quantization (LVQ) neural network and its extension LVQ2. The results of the experiments testing the performance have been evaluated with two profiles of the database. We have observed canonical correlation-based fusion providing the better results in comparison with simple fusion rule. The novelty of this research is the new feature generation using fused feature of distinct mental task based on CCA.  相似文献

Curcumin‐sensitized perovskite Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 (BNT) was synthesized for visible light photocatalytic decolorization of rhodamine 6G (Rh6G). Cube‐shaped perovskite BNT was synthesized by solid‐state route, and curcumin sensitization was performed using hydrothermal method. The surface sensitization of curcumin was analyzed by UV–Vis absorption spectra and FTIR. The degradation kinetics of Rh6G over Cur‐BNT were investigated and discussed through first‐order Langmuir–Hinshelwood kinetic model. The effect of catalyst dose on photocatalytic decolorization process was investigated. Photocatalysis was performed with different scavengers to investigate the role of active hole and radical species and photocatalytic degradation mechanism of Rh6G.  相似文献

A 0.5(Ba0.7Ca0.3)TiO3–0.5Ba(Zr0.1Ti0.9)O3 (BCT-BZT) ceramic was studied for photocatalysis and piezocatalysis effects using dye degradation (methylene blue, rhodamine B, and methyl orange) and bacterial (Escherichia coli) disinfection from aqueous solution. To examine the effect of ferroelectric polarization, BCT-BZT powder was poled using the corona poling technique. Same time, BCT-BZT was converted into Ag/BCT-BZT composites as Ag induced surface plasmon resonance effect during photocatalysis. Piezocatalysis performance was assessed for dyes mineralization under ultrasonication. There was a significant impact of silver nanoparticles on the photo/piezocatalysis performance of BCT-BZT. Similarly, electric poling has also played a positive role in improving the photo/piezocatalysis in view of various dye degradation. These samples also showed effective antibacterial performance.  相似文献

BaTi1−xFexO3 compositions (for x = 0, 0.1, and 0.2) were prepared via a solid-state reaction route. The presence of iron (Fe) in barium titanate (BaTiO3) eventually decreased the energy bandgap; thus, its utilization for water cleaning application through photocatalysis process was explored (using methylene blue [MB] dye as an indicative pollutant in water). Characterization of the synthesized powder was performed through scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The bandgap of the synthesized powder was calculated as 3.2, 2.12, and 1.67 eV for BaTi1−xFexO3 compositions (for x = 0, 0.1, and 0.2), respectively. BaTi0.8Fe0.2O3 powder showed excellent results, and ∼71% of the MB dye (∼5 mg/L concentrated) was degraded using the photocatalysis process under visible light. To check the potentiality of BaTi1−xFexO3 compositions (for x = 0, 0.1, and 0.2), the photocatalysis process was carried out by changing the concentration of MB dye (2.5–10 mg/L with a step of 2.5 mg/L) and the amount of BaTi0.8Fe0.2O3 powder (0.05–0.2 g with a step of 0.05 g) for ∼5-mg/L concentrated MB dye. The treated water was further used as a growth parameter and phytotoxicity analysis through germination index on the wheat seeds. Lastly, the BaTi1−xFexO3 compositions (for x = 0, 0.1, and 0.2) were explored for water cleaning applications under real-time solar irradiation.  相似文献

Displaying guilt after a transgression serves to appease the victim and other group members, restore interpersonal relationships, and indicate the transgressors' awareness of and desire to conform to the group's norms. We investigated whether and when young children are sensitive to these functions of guilt displays. In Study 1, after 4- and 5-year-old children watched videos of transgressors either displaying guilt (without explicitly apologizing) or not displaying guilt, 5-year-olds appropriately inferred that the victim would be madder at the unremorseful transgressor and would prefer the remorseful transgressor. They also said that they would prefer to interact with the remorseful transgressor, judged the unremorseful transgressor to be meaner, and, in a distribution of resources task, gave more resources to the remorseful transgressor. The 4-year-olds did not draw any of these inferences and distributed the resources equally. However, Study 2 showed that 4-year-olds were able to draw appropriate inferences about transgressors who explicitly apologized versus those who did not apologize. Thus, 4-year-olds seem to know the appeasement functions that explicit apologies serve but only when children have reached the age of 5 years do they seem to grasp the emotions that apologies stand for, namely, guilt and remorse, and the appeasement functions that displaying these emotions serve. Developments in the hammerhead ribozyme field during the last two years are reviewed here. New results on the specificity of this ribozyme, the mechanism of its action and on the question of metal ion involvement in the cleavage reaction are discussed. To demonstrate the potential of ribozyme technology examples of the application of this ribozyme for the inhibition of gene expression in cell culture, in animals, as well as in plant models are presented. Particular emphasis is given to critical steps in the approach, including RNA site selection, delivery, vector development and cassette construction.  相似文献

Delay Tolerant Networks (DTNs) have attracted various interests these days. Since DTNs are subject to high loss rate, large delay, intermittent connection, and even no end-to-end connectivity, relay nodes, such as throwboxes, are deployed to enhance network performance. Internet-based systems have contemporaneous connectivity between location-distributed nodes, and this does not apply to DTNs. Thus, the traditional relay node deployment strategies are no longer suitable for DTNs. In this paper, we propose a novel strategy, named Connection-2 (\(CO_2\)), to deploy throwboxes to enhance the fault tolerance of DTNs. \(CO_2\) constructs a 2-connected DTN using an approximation algorithm. Every mobile node in the 2-connected DTN can reach another mobile node via two or more node-disjoint paths within its mobility range. While enhancing fault tolerance, the number of throwboxes that \(CO_2\) requires is small. We conduct various experiments based on the simulation of the real Tuscaloosa bus transit system and compare its performance with two popular strategies. We have grown hierarchical structure of bismuth oxycloride (BiOCl) on SrO‐Bi2O3‐B2O3 (SBBO) transparent glass‐ceramic. SBBO glass‐ceramics were fabricated via conventional melt‐quenching technique while BiOCl was grown by etching the glass via HCl. Enhanced visible light driven photocatalytic activity and increasing hydrophobic feature were observed on BiOCl grown SBBO than as‐quenched SBBO glass‐ceramics. Contact angle analysis showed maximum contact angle of 130.7° on the surface of most BiOCl grown SBBO glass‐ceramic. Furthermore, under visible light illumination water contact angle decreased from 130.7° to 30.8°. Such photo‐induced hydrophilicity and catalytic performance in translucent glass‐ceramics lead self‐cleaning applications.  相似文献
