The aim of this work was to investigate the physical and mechanical performance of architectural polyester (PES)–poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) membranes exposed to different artificial aging conditions. Two commercially available architectural membranes were chosen as research objects. The durability of the PES/PVC fabrics was evaluated by the loss in mechanical performance, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction analysis in order to understand the effect of the degradation agents on the surface of the membranes. The mechanical performance of the PES/PVC membranes was unchanged. Scanning electron microscopy images of the tested materials showed initial cracks after aging. The X-ray fluorescence analysis showed that at the time of aging, the amount of Cl and Si decreased slightly, while Ti decreased by half, and Ca by volume increased twice. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Consumer interest in a healthy lifestyle and health-promoting natural products is a major driving force for the increasing global demand for bio-functional and sustainable dairy foods. Supplementation of curd cheese with thermo-coagulated acid whey protein (TAWP) led to 8–10% higher contents of moisture, 23–31% of lactose, 12–13% of unsaturated, 5–6% of monounsaturated, 63% of polyunsaturated, and 3–4% of long-chain fatty acids. Lipid quality indices – TI, AI, h/H, and Omega 6/3 among others, were also significantly better than those of control cheese. The addition of indigenous Lactococcus lactis strain enhanced the flavour of cheese samples, decreased the counts of yeast and mould up to 1 log cfu g−1 after 10 days of storage. The replacement of curd with TAWP resulted in novel cheese with overall sensory perception above 77 points and added nutritional and functional value, however, body and texture parameters of modified cheese samples require an improvement.  相似文献

This article provides an interpretation of David Lynch's (2001) film Mulholland Dr. as the dreamscape of Diane Selwyn, played by Naomi Watts. Viewers are caught in a story of murder, mystery, and lesbian love, only to realize that what they have witnessed is merely a dream. As Diane wakes up, memory flashbacks and hallucinations unveil the real events leading to the dream. The viewers are able to trace back the elements of the dream to their real-life sources and decipher the dream's secret agenda. Diane's dream is understood as an attempt to fulfill her deepest wishes and to alleviate her guilt for arranging the murder of her ex-lover. The dream is a failed attempt to escape reality, as well as a preparation for death. Whether or not one views Mulholland Dr. as inspired by psychoanalysis, Lynch's film is a masterful exploration of the unconscious workings of the human mind. Selected normal-phase HPLC and GLC methods for the analysis of tocopherols in vegetable oils were evaluated critically. Repeatability, accuracy and/or recovery were determined for both methods and compared to data mentioned in the official methodology. The best accuracy and repeatability was obtained for the normal-phase HPLC technique based on the AOCS official method Ce 8-89, which can probably be explained by the short and easy sample preparation. Tocopherol levels of sixteen fully refined vegetable oils were determined by both, GLC and HPLC. Regression analysis showed that tocopherol levels obtained by GLC were about 6.1% higher than the corresponding HPLC data. Although the reported recovery of the GLC method was good, it seems that an additional TLC separation has to be introduced in the sample preparation to avoid peak overlap between tocopherols and some interfering substances present in the unsaponifiable fraction.  相似文献

A method is described for probing interactions between molecules at the surfaces of growing crystals. For this purpose, mixed crystals have been treated as unique host-guest systems where the guest molecules are occluded into the host crystal through stereospecific interactions occurring at the different growing surfaces of the host. Owing to the process of molecular recognition at such surfaces, the adsorption and occlusion of the guest molecules takes place at specific sites, resulting in a reduction in symmetry of the mixed crystal compared to the pure host. The concept of reduction in symmetry is general, and has been instrumental for probing subtle molecular interactions at the surfaces of growing crystals, for the transformation of centrosymmetric single crystals into crystals with polar arrangement, and for “absolute” asymmetric synthesis inside centrosymmetric crystals.  相似文献

The search of possibilities to improve the functional properties of textile materials has been continuing for years with the aim to provide higher hygiene characteristics offer advanced therapeutic functionality. One of available approaches to provide new properties for textiles is the inclusion of natural ingredients. Propolis extracts are successfully used in practical therapeutics for accelerated wound healing and cell proliferation processes. In this study, pure multi-filament yarns and yarns saturated with propolis were developed and characterized. The effect of preparation and formulation parameters on the characteristics of yarns was evaluated; the release of propolis extract components from yarns and their possible cytotoxicity on cell formation was also determined.  相似文献

As the heat-induced formation of antioxidants throughout the Maillard reaction is known, this study was undertaken to evaluate the impact of lipid oxidation-derived aldehydes and ascorbic acid in Maillard model systems on the resulting antioxidant activity. For this purpose, various fractions of melanoidin-like polycondensation products were obtained from mixtures of amino acids (glycine, lysine, arginine) and lipid oxidation-derived aldehydes (hexanal, (E)-2-hexenal), in the presence or absence of glucose or ascorbic acid. All fractions showed a significant radical scavenging capacity (DPPH assay) and ferric reducing power (FRAP assay). The activity varied according to the composition of the model system tested, although some similar trends were discovered in both assays applied. The presence of lipid oxidation products in the browning products augmented the antioxidant activity in specific cases. For instance, the combined presence of arginine, hexanal and glucose in heated model systems resulted in a significantly higher antioxidant capacity. With an exception of ascorbic acid-containing model systems, melanoidin-like polycondensation products possessed significantly stronger antioxidant activities than the corresponding unheated initial reactant mixtures. Water-soluble high molecular weight (>12kDa) and nonsoluble fractions comprised the major part of the antioxidants derived from amino acid/lipid oxidation product model systems, with or without glucose or ascorbic acid.  相似文献

Rye and wheat bran extracts containing phenolic compounds and demonstrating high DPPH? (2,2‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl), ABTS?+ (2,2′‐azino‐bis(3‐ethylbenzthiazoline‐6‐sulphonic acid) scavenging and oxygen radical absorbance capacities (ORAC) were tested in beef hamburgers as possible functional ingredients. Bran extracts significantly increased the indicators of antioxidant potential of meat products and their global antioxidant response (GAR) during physiological in vitro digestion. The extracts also inhibited the formation of oxidation products, hexanal and malondialdehyde, of hamburgers during their storage; however, they did not have significant effect on the growth of microorganisms. Hamburgers with 0.8% wheat bran extract demonstrated the highest antioxidant potential. Some effects of bran extracts on other quality characteristics such as pH, color, formation of metmyoglobin were also observed, however, these effects did not have negative influence on the overall sensory evaluation score of hamburgers. Consequently, the use of bran extracts in meat products may be considered as promising means of increasing oxidative product stability and enriching with functional ingredients which might possess health benefits.  相似文献
