In this paper, an economic production quantity model is developed for a production–inventory system where the demand rate increases with time, the production rate is finite and adjustable in each cycle over an infinite planning horizon and shortages are permitted. The cost of adjusting the production rate depends linearly on the magnitude of the change in the production rate. During the stock‐out period, a known fraction of the unsatisfied demands is backordered while the remaining fraction is lost. The model is formulated taking the demand rate as a general increasing function of time and the optimal production policy is obtained for the special case of a linearly increasing demand rate. The proposed model is also shown to be suitable for a prescribed time horizon. A procedure to find approximately the minimum total cost of the system over a finite time horizon is suggested. A numerical example is taken to illustrate the solution procedure of the developed model.  相似文献

Clinical decision support system (CDSS) and their logic syntax include the coding of notifications (e.g., Arden Syntax). The following paper will describe the rationale for segregating policies, user preferences and clinical monitoring rules into “advanced notification” and” clinical” components, which together form a novel and complex CDSS. Notification rules and hospital policies are respectively abstracted from care-provider roles and alerting mechanisms. User-defined preferences determine which devices are to be used for receiving notifications. Our design differs from previous notification systems because it integrates a versatile notification platform supporting a wide range of mobile devices with a XML/HL-7 compliant communication protocol.  相似文献

A theory based on a rigid sphere model is presented for the diffusion coefficient of dissolved gases (and liquids) in protein solutions. The only quantities needed in order to make calculations are the rigid sphere diameters and the solution density; methods are given for obtaining the diameters. The theory predicts that the ratio of the diffusion coefficient of the gas in protein solution to that in pure water is strongly dependent on the size of the protein molecule, but is insensitive to the properties of the solute gas. The theory gives good agreement with available experimental data for the effects of protein concentration and molecular properties on the diffusion coefficient.  相似文献

Photochromic colorants change rapidly and reversibly from colorless to colored state when activated by ultraviolet radiation. They can be applied on textile substrates with use of organic binders. Different type of binders and their concentration may have a significant effect on color development and other related properties. In this work, a study of the effect of binder type at different concentrations on the color development, wash fastness and some comfort characteristics is undertaken. It was found that while these properties vary with binder type and concentration, the best color development is obtained at an optimum concentration of 5% binder. The presence of binder may affect comfort related properties of the fabrics, such as stiffness, water absorbency, air permeability, sometimes quite adversely. Hence a careful selection of the binder type is needed depending on the most important requirement in the colored fabrics.  相似文献

The present work involves the prediction of the concentration profiles in the case of pyrolysis of different lignocellulosic materials in isothermal and non-isothermal conditions. The operative temperature range is from 573 to 973 K for isothermal conditions, and for non-isothermal conditions, the heating rate ranges from 5 to 80 K/min (5, 20, 40, 60 and 80 K/min).

The concentration for the above mentioned conditions is predicted for various biomass components, viz. cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin. Based on the concentration profiles of different biomass materials, it is possible to predict the pyrolysis behavior over a wide range of temperatures under isothermal and non-isothermal conditions for a large number of biomass materials, provided the activation energy and the frequency factor for the various reaction steps are known. It is also possible to ascertain the degree of combustibility of different biomass materials.

The simulation model utilizes a 4th order Runge-Kutta Predictor-Corrector method to solve the coupled ordinary differential equations. Based on thermogravimetric analysis done elsewhere, it is considered that temperature and time have a linear relationship. The above technique enables us to predict concentration profiles of different biomass materials for the entire range of pyrolysis. The concentration vs time data is plotted graphically for both isothermal and non-isothermal conditions utilizing the Harvard Graphics package on a PC-A/T personal computer.  相似文献

Finite element analysis has been carried out to obtain temperature dependent transversely isotropic properties of the single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs). Finite element models of SWCNTs are generated by specifying the C–C bond rigidities. The five independent transversely isotropic properties for different chiralities are evaluated using the stress fields of thick-walled cylinders and the elastic deformations of SWCNTs subjected to pure extension, internal pressure and pure torsion loads. Empirical relations are provided for the five independent elastic constants useful to armchair and zigzag SWCNTs.  相似文献

Experimental data on desulphurisation of a simulated coal gas mixture containing 200 ppm H2S, using CuO/ZnO mixed oxide sorbent in a fluidised bed reactor, are used to evaluate four representative structural models for gas-solid non-catalytic reactions. The four models chosen for evaluation are the spherical changing-grain-size model of Georgakis and co-workers, the rectangular grains version of the general formulation of Szekely and co-workers, the single-pore model of Ramachandran and Smith and the random pore model of Bhatia and Perlmutter. All the model parameters except the reaction rate constant are calculated from experimental measurements or from literature correlations. The rate constant alone is adjusted so as to obtain good agreement between the model and the experiment. It is shown that at any given temperature all the models describe the data well. However, the random pore model predicts conversions lower than experiment at large times while the rectangular grains model predicts conversions higher than experiment for small times. The rate constants decrease as temperature increases indicating an inadequacy of all the models in this regard. The models also predict much smaller variations in conversion with change in particle size than those observed experimentally.  相似文献

A host of remote-sensing and mapping applications require both high spatial and high spectral resolutions. Availability of high spatial and spectral details at different resolutions from a suite of satellite sensors has necessitated the development of effective image fusion techniques that can effectively combine the information available from different sensors and take advantage of their varied capabilities. A common problem observed in the case of multi-sensor multi-temporal data fusion is spectral distortion of the fused images. Performance of a technique also varies with variation in scene characteristics. In this article, two sets of multi-temporal CARTOSAT-1 and Indian Remote Sensing satellite (IRS-P6) Linear Imaging and Self Scanning sensor (LISS-IV) image sub-scenes, with different urban landscape characteristics, are fused with an aim to evaluate the performance of five image fusion algorithms – high-pass filtering (HPF), Gram–Schmidt (GS), Ehlers, PANSHARP and colour-normalized Brovey (CN-Brovey). The resultant fused data sets are compared qualitatively and quantitatively with respect to spectral fidelity. Spatial enhancement is assessed visually. The difference in the performance of techniques with variation in scene characteristics is also examined. For both scenes, GS, HPF and PANSHARP fusion techniques produced comparable results with high spectral quality and spatial enhancement. For these three methods, the variation in performance over different scenes was not very significant. The Ehlers method resulted in spatially degraded images with a more or less constant negative offset in data values in all bands of one scene and in the first two bands in the other. The CN-Brovey method produced excellent spatial enhancement but highly distorted radiometry for both sub-scenes.  相似文献
