Discrete Wavelet Transform: Architectures, Design and Performance Issues   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
Due to the demand for real time wavelet processors in applications such as video compression [1], Internet communications compression [2], object recognition [3], and numerical analysis, many architectures for the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) systems have been proposed. This paper surveys the different approaches to designing DWT architectures. The types of architectures depend on whether the application is 1-D, 2-D, or 3-D, as well as the style of architecture: systolic, semi-systolic, folded, digit-serial, etc. This paper presents an overview and evaluation of the architectures based on the criteria of latency, control, area, memory, and number of multipliers and adders. This paper will give the reader an indication of the advantages and disadvantages of each design.  相似文献

Several railgun experiments designed to accelerate projectile masses of 2 to 5 g to velocities greater than 6 km/s were performed. Two parallel rail-type accelerators with 12.7 mm square bores were used for the experiments. One gun is 2 m long, has molybdenum rails and alumina ceramic insulators. The other is 1 m long, has molybdenum rails and granite insulators. The greatest velocity achieved to date during the experiments was 5.1 km/s. During the test program, the following ideas to enhance launcher performance were tested: stiff-gun structures to reduce plasma leakage and rail movement, refactory bore materials to reduce ablation and frictional losses, and prefilling the gun bore with gases which will eliminate precursor arcs. After three experiments utilizing the 2 m long launcher, with peak currents ranging from 660 to 780 kA, a gun barrel comprised of 96% pure alumina ceramic insulators and 99.9% pure molybdenum rails has survived with minimal damage and no degradation of seals  相似文献

Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) is known to induce the dispersion of epithelial cells, as scatter factor. On the other hand, cadherins play a crucial role in connecting cells together. Two groups of cadherins are involved in epithelial cell adhesion, those locating in adherens junctions (AJ) and in desmosomes. Here, we examined the effect of HGF on the function of these cadherins in keratinocyte cell lines F and 308R, which expressed E- and P-cadherin in AJ (referred to as AJ cadherins) and desmoplakin in desmosomes. In the presence of HGF, these cells spread more extensively than in control cultures and their associations apparently loosened. However, they maintained cell-cell contacts where cadherins and desmoplakin concentrated, although the level of the concentration was reduced by HGF treatment. When antibodies to E- and P-cadherins were added to cultures of these cells without HGF, AJ cadherins were redistributed into non-junctional areas of the cells, but desmoplakin still localized at cell-cell boundaries. When HGF was added together with anti-AJ cadherin antibodies to the cultures, cell-cell contacts were now disrupted. In these cultures, not only AJ cadherins but also desmoplakin were lost at cell-cell contact sites, indicating that HGF can disrupt desmosomal cell-cell adhesion when AJ cadherins are inactive. These results suggest that, although HGF cannot block cadherin-mediated cell-cell adhesion when the entire cadherin system is intact, it might modulate the activities of cadherins, especially, of desmosomal cadherins.  相似文献

The phase diagram of polytetrafluoroethylene is enlarged by differential scanning calorimetry to include the concentration of hexafluoropropylene comonomer units. The two transitions near 292 and 303 K in the homopolymer move to lower temperatures and apparently become one at small concentrations. Analysis of the data yields 295 K for the temperature and 13.2 J/g for the heat of transition of an infinitely large homopolymer crystal. The heat of transition associated with the formation of a crystal defect is 0.021 eV. The qualitative features of the transition can be accounted for by a mean-field model which involves two order parameters corresponding to planar units and helix reversals. This model yields two transitions which move closer together and to lower temperatures with increasing comonomer concentration. Decreasing lamella thickness will have a qualitatively similar effect.  相似文献

This article has 2 goals: to provide additional evidence that exposure to ideological online news media contributes to political misperceptions, and to test 3 forms this media‐effect might take. Analyses are based on representative survey data collected during the 2012 U.S. presidential election (N = 1,004). Panel data offer persuasive evidence that biased news site use promotes inaccurate beliefs, while cross‐sectional data provide insight into the nature of these effects. There is no evidence that exposure to ideological media reduces awareness of politically unfavorable evidence, though in some circumstances biased media do promote misunderstandings of it. The strongest and most consistent influence of ideological media exposure is to encourage inaccurate beliefs regardless of what consumers know of the evidence.  相似文献

Political information sharing in social media offers citizens opportunities to engage with news and express their political views, but how do different patterns of online political information exposure, including both incidental and selective exposure, affect sharing? Using two‐wave panel survey data collected in the United States, we examine the relationship between incidental and selective exposure and their consequent links to political information sharing, across different levels of strength of political party affiliation. Our results demonstrate that incidental exposure to counter‐attitudinal information drives stronger partisans to more actively seek out like‐minded political content, which subsequently encourages political information sharing on social media. The results highlight the need to consider both types of political information exposure when modeling citizens' political behavior online.  相似文献

In this paper we present two simple, reliable and readily applicable methods for calibrating cantilevers and measuring the thickness of thin gold films. The spring constant calibration requires knowledge of the Young's modulus, density of the cantilever and resonant frequency. The thickness of thin gold layers was determined by measuring changes in the resonant frequency and Q-factor of beam shaped AFM cantilevers before and after coating.The techniques for measuring the spring constant and thin film thickness provide accuracy on the order of 10-15%.  相似文献

Perchlorate contaminates vast amounts of groundwater throughout the United States which could potentially be used as potable water. Activated carbon pre-loaded with cetyltrimethylammonium chloride has been shown in this research to be an effective adsorbent for removing perchlorate from three low conductivity (50-66 microS/cm) groundwaters containing perchlorate (ClO(4)(-)) concentrations of 0.85, 1.0, and 5.6 parts per billion (ppb), respectively. In rapid small-scale column tests (RSSCTs), the virgin granular activated carbon (GAC) (used as a control) treated between 20,000 and 40,000 bed volumes (BV) of water. In contrast, the activated carbon that was pre-loaded with CTAC processed 170,000-270,000 BV before perchlorate was detected above 0.25 ppb in the effluent. Though this pre-loading significantly increased the capacity for perchlorate, it also diminished the GAC's capacity to remove organics. The groundwater containing 1 ppb ClO(4)(-) also contained the nitro-organics HMX (0.6 ppb) and RDX (5.5-6.6 ppb). RDX was detected in the effluent from the CTAC-pre-loaded bed after only 8000 BV had been processed whereas 308,000 BV could be processed through the virgin bed before RDX was detected. Likewise, HMX breakthrough was observed after 116,000 BV in the CTAC-pre-loaded bed while the virgin RSSCT exhibited no breakthrough of HMX during a test that was operated for 309,000 BV. However, by combining a CTAC-pre-loaded bed followed by a virgin GAC bed in series, both perchlorate and RDX could be removed for the same length of time.  相似文献

Our interactive, 3D stereo display helps guide clinicians during endovascular procedures, such as intraoperative needle insertion and stent placement relative to the target organs. We describe a new method of guiding endovascular procedures using interactive 3D stereo visualizations. We use as an example the transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) procedure. Our goal is to increase the speed and safety of endovascular procedures by providing the interventionalist with 3D information as the operation proceeds. Our goal is to provide 3D image guidance of the TIPS procedure so that the interventionalist can readily adjust the needle position and trajectory to reach the target on the first pass. We propose a 3D stereo display of the interventionalist's needle and target vessels. We also add interactivity via head tracking so that the interventionalist gains a better 3D sense of the relationship between the target vessels and the needle during needle advancement.  相似文献

The self-shading measurement error of the upwelling irradiance that is due to the presence of the instrument housing of an optical spectrometer with the irradiance meter located on a sidearm was calculated with a Monte Carlo code. The dependence of the effect on the instrument dimensions, the values of real optical parameters, sea-surface roughness, and Sun zenith angle were all studied to estimate maximum errors for two possible configurations of a proposed new marine spectrophotometer.  相似文献
