Cyclamate and its metabolite cyclohexylamine affect male fertility in high dose animal studies, but this affect has not been investigated in epidemiological studies. This paper reports the first epidemiological study designed to investigate the possibility of a relationship between cyclamate and cyclohexylamine and male fertility in humans, in which 405 cases of clinically defined infertility in men and 379 controls were surveyed. Semen evaluation, urine analysis for cyclamate and cyclohexylamine and dietary questionnaires were compared between cases and controls. No evidence was found of a significant association between cyclamate intake and male infertility; neither high cyclamate nor high cyclohexylamine excretion were associated with elevated risk. The lack of association remained after adjusting by age, area of residence, education, total energy intake and other variables. No significant correlations were observed between cyclamate intake, metabolism or excretion, and sperm count and motility. The results demonstrate no effect of cyclamate or cyclohexylamine on male fertility at the present levels of cyclamate consumption.  相似文献

The current study investigates the combustion and blast furnace injection performance of three Brazilian subbituminous coals (Mina do Recreio) and their beneficiation products using laboratory scale combustion tests. The coals have relative high ash yields (up to 40 wt%) that were reduced stepwise to levels as low as 12 wt%, dry basis. The reduction of ash yields is paralleled by a significant decrease in sulphur and inertinite contents.The combustion tests were performed in a drop tube reactor operating at 1300 °C using two different atmospheres (2.5 and 5% O2). The chars exhibited preferentially rounded shapes with thick walls and abundant secondary porosity for the 2.5% O2 chars, whereas the 5% O2 chars showed very thin walls as a consequence of extensive burnout. The intrinsic reactivities of both set of chars were similar. The differences in conversion between the two working atmospheres were 24-37% and roughly tend to increase with increasing mineral matter content. Conversions as high as 76-81% were reached operating under 5% O2 indicating that the coals are easy to burn. The small differences in burnout among the coals and their beneficiation products cannot be clearly attributed neither to mineral matter or inertinite content. A rough inverse relationship was found between the intrinsic reactivity of the chars and the inertinite content of the parent coal indicating that the char material derived from inertinite was intrinsically less reactive than that derived from vitrinite. These differences were no longer relevant at high temperature.Blast furnace injection performance was studied through thermobalance experiments using CO2 atmosphere and 1050 °C temperature. It is apparent that the beneficiation process has no effect on the reactivity of the coals from Recreio Mine. The only exception is the low ash coal-2-LabB (11.5 wt%), for which a higher reactivity is indicated. The reactivity tests show also that the coals have adequate properties to be used together with imported coal blends in pulverized coal injection in the blast furnace (PCI).  相似文献

Tactic planning or master production scheduling focuses on time and spatial decomposition of the aggregate planning targets and forecasts, as well as, forecast and provision of needed resources. This process becomes extremely hard and time consuming with the increase of number of products, resources and periods considered. In face of such obstacles, this work shows a study of an Artificial Intelligence technique called Simulated Annealing applied to the optimization of production planning problem, more specifically, Master Production Scheduling. This work reviews some of the fundamental theory of simulated annealing, the methodology for master production scheduling calculation, the applicability of simulating annealing to planning problems, most important results and suggestions for further studies.  相似文献

In this paper, a novel topology to supply metal halide (MH) lamps using sinusoidal waveform with superposed third harmonic is proposed. By employing this technique, the lamp is supplied with an approximated square waveform, but it reduces the harmonic content and, therefore, electromagnetic interference and radio-frequency interference. The proposed topology is analyzed and designed for a 35-W MH lamp with ceramic discharge tube. Experimental results prove that lamp operation is stable at operating frequencies where acoustic resonances were previously observed when supplied with purely sinusoidal waveforms. In conclusion, the proposed technique could be a feasible solution for stable operation of MH lamps.  相似文献

A new single-stage high-power-factor electronic ballast based on a flyback converter is presented in this paper. The ballast is able to supply a fluorescent lamp assuring a high-input power factor for the utility line. Other features are lamp power regulation against line voltage variations and low lamp current crest factor, both assuring long lamp life. The ballast is analyzed at steady-state operation, and design equations and characteristics are obtained. Also, a procedure for the ballast design is presented. Finally, simulation and experimental results from a laboratory prototype are shown  相似文献

Maintaining and operating civil infrastructure systems has been recognized as a critical issue worldwide. Among all possible causes of safety reduction during the structural lifetime, deterioration is particularly important. Structural deterioration is usually a slow time-dependent process controlled by safety and operation threshold specifications. This paper presents a model of RC deterioration by coupling biodeterioration (i.e., chemical, physical and mechanical action of live organisms), steel corrosion, and concrete cracking. The final purpose of the model is to compute the reduction of the concrete section and the area of steel reinforcement in order to assess the change of structural capacity with time. Given the uncertainties in both the parameters and the model, the probabilistic nature of loads, the material properties and the diffusion process are taken into account to evaluate structural reliability. The model is illustrated with an example where the inelastic behavior of a pile subject to random loading is considered. The results of the analysis have shown that the effect of biodeterioration on the structural performance is significant and can cause an important reduction of its lifetime. On the whole, the paper states that modeling the effects of biodeterioration in RC structures should be included as part of infrastructure planning and design, especially, when they are located in aggressive environments.  相似文献
