We develop a characterization for m-fault-tolerant extensions, and for optimal m-fault-tolerant extensions, of a complete multipartite graph. Our formulation shows that this problem is equivalent to an interesting combinatorial problem on the partitioning of integers. This characterization leads to a new procedure for constructing an optimal m-fault-tolerant extension of any complete multipartite graph, for any m⩾0. The proposed procedure is mainly useful when the size of the graph is relatively small, because the search time required is exponential. This exponential search, however, is not always necessary. The aim of the present study was to investigate the hepatoprotective effects of different soluble fractions of methanolic derived Cassia obtusifolia seeds extract (COE) and its active components in tert‐butyl hydroperoxide (t‐BHP)‐induced oxidative stress in HepG2 cells. Among the tested fractions, the ethyl acetate (EtOAc) fraction was the most active hepatoprotective fraction. From the active EtOAc fraction, six anthraquinones (alaternin, emodin, aloe emodin, 2‐hydroxyemodin 1‐methyl ether, chryso‐obtusin‐2‐O‐β‐d ‐glucoside, and questin) and one naphthopyrone glycoside (cassiaside) were isolated. The cytotoxic effect in 200 µM t‐BHP‐induced HepG2 cells was inhibited by COE and their bioactive compounds. The protective effect of COE in 200 µM t‐BHP‐induced HepG2 cells may be associated with positive regulation of glutathione (GSH) and decreased in reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation of their bioactive compounds. The increased ROS and decreased GSH levels observed in t‐BHP‐treated HepG2 cells were ameliorated by pretreatment with cassiaside, alaternin, and aloe emodin, indicating that the hepatoprotective effects of these major constituents are mediated by induction of cellular defense against oxidative stress. Overall, COE displayed a significant cytoprotective effect against oxidative stress, which may most likely be because of active compounds like cassiaside, alaternin, and aloe emodin in COE, which leads to maintenance of the normal redox status of cells.
Practical applications
The dried and roasted seeds of Cassia obtusifolia are commonly consumed as brew tea and medicinal foods in Korea. The seeds have multiple therapeutic actions related to the treatment of liver disease, dementia, diabetes, eye inflammation, photophobia and lacrimation, dysentery, headache, as well as dizziness. The present study demonstrates the hepatoprotective effect through prevention of oxidative stress, suggesting that C. obtusifolia and its constituents may have beneficial effects in preventing hepatic diseases. 相似文献3.

This work was undertaken to explore the formation of weld defects in FSWed copper metals via both numerical and experimental approaches. The 4 mm-thick copper sheets were friction stir welded at a tool rotational speed of 710 rpm and tool translational speed of 40 mm/min. Microstructural evaluations were performed on the welded specimens. Also a 3D arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian numerical model was developed to obtain temperature and material velocity profiles. To this aim, DEFORM-3D was implemented for developing the numerical simulation. Numerical results for temperature values showed good agreement with the recorded experimental data. They also suggest that on the advancing side (AS) of the trailing side, the pin velocity has the minimum amount (zero), and this is the main reason for the formation of tunneling cavity. Experimental results show that a force is created between the reminder of material at the joint and the rim of AS. This force causes a prong of surface material from the AS rim to penetrate into lower parts of weld. It seems that the inadequate pressure (low values of the plunge depth), inadequate surface materials, and the trapped air are the main causes for the formation of the weld defects. 相似文献

In combined mitral stenosis and incompetence, the mitral echocardiogram is able to estimate the degree of mitral stenosis (i. e. mitral valve area) without being able to detect or quantify mitral incompetence. A diastolic closure rate of 20 mm/sec or less does not exclude significant mitral incompetence as claimed by others. Biodegradable self‐reinforced films of poly (3‐hydroxybutyrate‐co‐3‐hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV) and PHBV microparticles were prepared through the solvent casting method (srPHBV). Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), wide angle X‐ray scattering (WAXS) and polarized optical microscopy results confirmed the nucleating effect of PHBV microparticles. WAXS proved that diffractograms of PHBV and srPHBV‐6 films at room temperature contain the main characteristic diffraction peaks of an orthorhombic α‐type crystalline structure. Small angle X‐ray scattering (SAXS) showed a similar decrement rate of long spacing in PHBV and srPHBV films. SAXS/WAXS data revealed that when the amount of filler was increased, lamellae thickness grew. Transmission electron microscopy images illustrated well filler dispersion in the srPHBV films. Scanning electron microscopy results exhibited a significant reduction in porosity for srPHBV films once the PHBV microparticles were added. Atomic force microscopy analysis showed higher surface roughness after filler incorporation. Samples of srPHBV films showed higher barrier properties against water vapor, oxygen, and carbon dioxide. The effect of an electromagnetic field (EMF) on the rate of copper(II) cementation from copper sulfate solutions on a rotating iron cylinder was investigated. The studied variables were cylinder rotation speed, magnetic field strength, and magnetic field direction. The application of EMF increased the rate of cementation in both parallel and perpendicular direction of the magnetic field where the latter proved to be more effective. The rate of mass transfer under an EMF was found to be more than doubled. The enhancement of copper recovery in presence of the EMF is due to the induced motion of Fe+n in the solution which is limited to a certain range of cylinder rotation speed. The power consumption for cementation of copper could be significantly reduced by utilizing EMF. 相似文献

Resistance spot welding (RSW) is a highly used joining procedure in automotive industry. In RSW, after a number of welds the welding electrode starts to wear and its diameter changes. This causes the weld nugget diameter abnormal variations and consequently reduces the weld strength. Therefore the tip of the electrode should be dressed in RSW. Selecting the optimum time for the welding electrode tip dressing operations is very important. In this research three welding parameters including the welding time, the welding current, and the welding pressure were identified as the main effective parameters on the weld nugget dimensions including the weld nugget diameter and height using full factorial design of experiments. Then using hybrid combination of the artificial neural networks and multi-objective genetic algorithm, the optimized values of the aforementioned parameters were specified.
