Composites made of ceramic for both fibers and matrix are aimed at being used in aerospace applications, which means being submitted to mechanical stresses at high temperatures in oxidizing and corrosive environments for long durations. The oxidation/corrosion resistance of these materials is linked to their ability to self-heal by creating an oxide phase which can restrict the access of the oxygen into the bulk of the material. During thermomechanical cycles, the distribution of O2 inside the material as well as the distribution and the state of the liquid oxides will undergo some modifications. A specific test has been conceived and performed in order to evidence the influence of the viscosity of this oxide on the mechanical properties of the material. Results have shown that the stiffening which is observed seems to be proportional to the increase in the viscosity of the sealing oxide, in conjunction with the decrease in the temperature.  相似文献

The web provides an unprecedented opportunity to evaluate ideas quickly using controlled experiments, also called randomized experiments, A/B tests (and their generalizations), split tests, Control/Treatment tests, MultiVariable Tests (MVT) and parallel flights. Controlled experiments embody the best scientific design for establishing a causal relationship between changes and their influence on user-observable behavior. We provide a practical guide to conducting online experiments, where end-users can help guide the development of features. Our experience indicates that significant learning and return-on-investment (ROI) are seen when development teams listen to their customers, not to the Highest Paid Person’s Opinion (HiPPO). We provide several examples of controlled experiments with surprising results. We review the important ingredients of running controlled experiments, and discuss their limitations (both technical and organizational). We focus on several areas that are critical to experimentation, including statistical power, sample size, and techniques for variance reduction. We describe common architectures for experimentation systems and analyze their advantages and disadvantages. We evaluate randomization and hashing techniques, which we show are not as simple in practice as is often assumed. Controlled experiments typically generate large amounts of data, which can be analyzed using data mining techniques to gain deeper understanding of the factors influencing the outcome of interest, leading to new hypotheses and creating a virtuous cycle of improvements. Organizations that embrace controlled experiments with clear evaluation criteria can evolve their systems with automated optimizations and real-time analyses. Based on our extensive practical experience with multiple systems and organizations, we share key lessons that will help practitioners in running trustworthy controlled experiments.  相似文献

The vacuum plasma spraying (VPS) process allows the production of thin solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) with low internal resistances. This enables the reduction of the cell operating temperature without a significant decrease in power density. Consequently, the long-term stability of the cells can be improved and low-cost materials can be used. Different material combinations and spray parameter variations were applied to develop thin-film SOFCs, which were plasma sprayed in a consecutive deposition process onto different porous metallic substrates. The use of Laval nozzles, which were developed at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), and the use of conical F4V standard nozzles enable the fabrication of thin gas tight yttria- and scandia-stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ and ScSZ) electrolyte layers and of porous electrode layers with high material deposition rates. The optimization of the VPS parameters has been supported by laser doppler anemometry (LDA) investigations. The development of the plasma-sprayed cells with a total thickness of approximately 100 μm requires an overall electrical and electrochemical characterization process of the single layers and of the completely plasma-sprayed cell assembly. The plasma-sprayed cell layers reveal high electrical conductivities. The plasma-sprayed cells show very good electrochemical performance and low internal resistances. Power densities of 300 to 400 mW/cm2 at low operating temperatures of 750 to 800 °C were achieved. These cells can be assembled to high performance SOFC stacks with active cell areas up to 400 cm2, which can be operated at reduced temperatures and good long-term stability.  相似文献

We have developed a biologically active analogue of cholecystokinin (CCK) that incorporates a photolabile benzoylphenylalanine (Bpa) moiety in the middle of its pharmacophoric domain, which efficiently establishes a covalent bond with an interacting domain of the CCK receptor. This probe incorporated L-Bpa in the position of Gly29 of the well characterized, radioiodinatable CCK analogue, D-Tyr-Gly-[(Nle28,31)CCK-26-33]. It was a potent pancreatic secretagogue (EC50 = 28 +/- 6 nM) that was equally efficacious with natural CCK, and bound to the CCK receptor with moderate affinity (IC50 = 450 +/- 126 nM). This was adequate to allow specific covalent labeling of the receptor. The labeled domain was within the cyanogen bromide fragment of the receptor including the top of TM6 (the sixth transmembrane domain), the third extracellular loop, and TM7 (the seventh transmembrane domain), as proven by direct Edman degradation sequencing. When this fragment was modified by the replacement of Val342 with Met to generate an additional site of cyanogen bromide cleavage, the labeled fragment was reduced in apparent size consistent with its representing the carboxyl-terminal portion of this fragment. Radiochemical sequencing of that fragment demonstrated covalent attachment of the probe to His347 and Leu348 in this domain. This represents the second experimentally demonstrated contact between a CCK analogue and this receptor, complementing the labeling of the domain just above TM1 (the first transmembrane domain) by a photolabile residue at the carboxyl terminus of CCK (Ji, Z. S., Hadac, E. M., Henne, R. M., Patel, S. A., Lybrand, T. P., and Miller, L. J. (1997) J. Biol. Chem. 272, 24393-24401). Both contacts are consistent with the conformational model of CCK binding proposed on the basis of the initial contact.  相似文献

With desalination of brackish water far inland, the discharge of the concentrated brine which -is -inevitably produced as a by-product by all the desalination processes may pose a serious problem.

Deep well injection and discharge into rivers can be a solution in many cases. These methods however have serious disadvantages with respect to ecology and a pipeline to the sea can only be considered for shorter distances.

As an alternative, a hybrid plant consisting of a Reverse-Osmosis unit and a crystallization section has been studied. Such a combination converts brackish water into fresh water and a crystal sludge which can be either stored or treated for further use. Because of the scale-forming substances in brackish water, only modified crystallization processes can be employed as second stage of the hybrid plant. In this study, two versions are discussed: agitated thin-film evaporators and a modified MSF-process employing oil as a heat-carrier.

Cost figures for the total process will be given and the sensibility of the fresh-water-price to variations of the main parameters like capacity, fuel price etc. will be discussed.  相似文献

Bacillus subtilis spores (a simulant of Bacillus anthracis) have been imaged by two-photon luminescence (TPL) microscopy, using gold nanorods (GNRs) functionalized with a cysteine-terminated homing peptide. Control experiments using a peptide with a scrambled amino acid sequence confirmed that the GNR targeting was highly selective for the spore surfaces. The high sensitivity of TPL combined with the high affinity of the peptide labels enables spores to be detected with high fidelity using GNRs at femtomolar concentrations. It was also determined that GNRs are capable of significant TPL output even when irradiated at near infrared (NIR) wavelengths far from their longitudinal plasmon resonance (LPR), permitting considerable flexibility in the choice of GNR aspect ratio or excitation wavelength for TPL imaging.   相似文献

To bridge a malignant stenosis after esophageal cancer recurrence two silicon-coated wall stents were inplanted in a 52-year-old patient within 6 months. Two weeks after the second stent was implanted, clinical examination showed dislocation of the prosthesis. Intraoperatively the two stents were found sticking in the side-to-side jejunostomy of a former Billroth II operation, leading to perforation there.  相似文献

Measuring the porosity of materials by digital image analysis of micrographs is a well-established and convenient method for the testing of metallic samples. However, when applied to ceramic materials, this method has been shown to be much less reliable and poorly reproducible. The purpose of this present work is to clarify the reason for this deficiency, involving many porosity measurements, performed on plasma-sprayed zirconia, under systematically varied microscopic imaging conditions, and the porosities being calculated using various evaluation methods. Comparison between of the results has shown that the present state of the image analysis method is not satisfactory for absolute porosity measurements on ceramic materials. It can be useful as a convenient tool for comparative measurements, however, if the imaging conditions maintained in the microscope and the evaluation method are held to be exactly identical.  相似文献
