Energy Band-gap Calculation of d-Ta2O5 Using sX-LDA and B3LYP Methods

The energy band-gap and related factors of tantalum pentoxide with hexagonal phase were investigated using hybrid functional B3 LYP and s X-LDA methods. The results showed that both s X-LDA and B3 LYP techniques reveal the indirect semiconductor nature of δ-Ta2O5, whereas the obtained value of energy band-gap is much higher than previous theoretical reports but closer to the experimental data. The optical bandgap of δ-Ta2O5 is expected to originate from the O 2p→Ta 5d transition which may benefit from the d-s-p hybridization.     

Modeling Impact of ROADM Intra-Node Add/Drop Contention on a Single Node Lightpath Blocking Performance

We propose an analytical model to evaluate the lightpath blocking performance for a single ROADM node with intra-node add/drop contention,in which the number of lightpaths that can be added/dropped with the same wavelength is limited by the add/drop contention factor.Different models of traffic load per nodal degree are considered to validate the effectiveness of the analytical model.The simulation results show that the proposed analytical model is effective in predicting the performance for different values of add/drop contention factor C and for variable offered loads at the node.The add/drop contention factor shows an important impact on the lightpath blocking performance and properly raising the contention factor can significantly improve the lightpath blocking performance.When the add/drop contention factor C exceeds a certain level,the performance of a ROADM with intra-node contention is close to that of a contentionless ROADM.     

Kinetic Studies on Reactions Between Monomethylhydrazine and Fe^3＋ as Well as N,N-Dimethylhydroxylamine and Fe^3＋ by Measuring Potential of Fe^3＋/Fe^2＋

The kinetic studies on the reactions between monomethyldrazine and Fe^3＋ as well as N,N-dimethyl- hydroxylamine and Fe^3＋ in nitric acid system are performed by measuring open-circuit potential of Fe^3＋/ Fe^2＋. The effect of some factors such as the concentration of MMH or DMHAN, the concentration of nitric acid, ionic strength, temperature and the concentration of Fe^3＋ on the reaction rate is also studied.     

Continuous Separation of Inclusions from Aluminum Melt Flowing in a Circular Pipe using a High Frequency Magnetic Field

The continuous separation of inclusions from aluminum melt flowing in a circular pipe using a high frequency magneticfield was investigated both theoretically and experimentally The separation efficiency was calculated based on thetrajectory method and compared with experimental results. It is found that the separation efficiency is a functilnondimensional parameters t_i·d_p~2B_e~2/μ_fμ_eα~2 and α/δ.The effective way to improve the separation efficiency is to increasethe effective magnetic flux density and decrease the pipe radius. and the value of α/δ should be kept about 2 in orderto obtain the optimum separation efficiency.
