The present work is devoted to an investigation of the influence of the micro-structural evolution of the compound zone (iron (carbo)nitrides zone) upon the development of hardness profiles in the diffusion zone. A different phase structure of iron (carbo)nitrides zone on steel as compared to iron, further changing with the process, may result in upsetting of the quasi-equilibrium of nitrogen concentration in the iron (carbo)nitrides zone/diffusion zone interface. This, as a result, may have an impact on the kinetics of this layer's growth. The research carried out was aimed at solving this problem. It was to evaluate the influence of (carbo)nitrides zone, with an intentionally created diametrically different phase composition, on hardness profiles in the diffusion zone. The nitrided layers were characterised by a light optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction and measurements of hardness. It was observed that the evolution of the phase structure and phase composition of the compound zone contributes significantly, regardless of nitrogen potential and temperature, to the formation of the diffusion zone and in particular to its effective thickness. It makes this complex picture of nitrided case development on steel even more intricate.  相似文献

The present paper describes results from a recent research project aimed at forming a wear resistant coating based on chromium on tools to wood machining. Cr2N/CrN multilayer coatings deposited on HS6-5-2 steel substrates using cathodic arc evaporation were tested. These coatings were formed from 7 bilayers being ca. 340 nm thick and equally thick Cr2N and CrN layers. For comparison, Cr2N and CrN monolayer coatings were also prepared. Hardness measurements, indentation and scratch tests, friction and wear were performed to characterize the mechanical properties. The wear tracks and Rockwell indentations enable to assess wear mechanisms of the coatings. The results of the Cr2N/CrN coatings investigated show high hardness: ca. about 22 GPa and a critical force being higher than 95 N and a low wear rate. The industrial tests of planer knives with Cr2N/CrN multilayer coatings were carried out on a down-spindle milling machine to determine the durability of tools with wear resistant coatings for woodworking. These tools show increase of “life time” two times. Another positive feature of the use of such tools is the increase of the quality of wood surface machined when compared with uncoated tools.  相似文献

In search of a better understanding of catalyst effects on final product qualities of polypropylene, an attempt was made to establish a correlation between catalyst type, polymer chain structure of homopolymers, crystallization behavior, as well as final morphology and mechanical properties. Conventional Ziegler–Natta catalyst systems as well as novel metallocene catalysts were investigated, and influences of molar mass distribution and chain regularity were investigated as separate factors. Metallocene-based isotactic polypropylene shows some special effects regarding the nucleation density and the correlation between stereoregularity and mechanics that do not fit into the general picture for Ziegler–Natta catalyst based products. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Force-deformation and force-relaxation experiments were performed on amaranth seeds puffed at 290, 330 and 370°C. Less force and energy was required to cause a given deformation in seeds processed at 290°C than in those puffed at 330 and 370°C. It was also observed that the forces and energies required to produce a given deformation did not differ significantly (p ≤ 0.05) for seeds puffed at 330 and 370°C. The three-element generalized Maxwell model and Peleg model were applied for modeling force relaxation of puffed amaranth seeds. It was found that the generalized Maxwell model predicted the experimental data better than the Peleg model. The elastic parameters and asymptotic residual force of the generalized Maxwell model were significantly affected by puffing temperature, showing an increase with its rise. Relaxation times were not significantly affected by the puffing temperature. It was concluded that a higher puffing temperature resulted in a more rigid material and less viscous behavior.  相似文献

For understanding the correlation chain from the polymer structure to the final application properties of propylene–ethylene random copolymers, four commercial grades with different ethylene content (0–8 mol %) but identical molecular weight distributions were investigated. Structural investigations concerning the comonomer distribution, using two different techniques (temperature rising elution fractionation and stepwise isothermal segregation), showed an increase of inhomogeneity with the total comonomer content, which was reflected for temperature rising elution fractionation in a widening of the elution temperature range. Crystallinity and crystallization speed studies confirmed the reduced overall crystallinity and increase of γ‐modification content as reported previously, but they also showed the reason for these effects in the distinctive decrease of the spherulitic growth speed. Good correlations of all these parameters to the mechanical performance of the four materials were obtained. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 95: 1073–1081, 2005  相似文献

In the paper, the results of wear and corrosion tests of the CrCN/CrN multilayer coatings, formed by cathodic arc evaporation on 42CrMo4 (AISI 4140) steel substrates are presented. The substrates were subjected to thermo-chemical treatment–nitriding with various nitriding potential. The results of nitriding were determined by XRD and the hardness profile in the samples cross-section. The morphology of thin coatings was examined with SEM. A Vickers FV-700 and Fisherscope HM2000 hardness testers enabled to investigate hardness of steel substrates and CrCN/CrN coatings respectively. A pin-on-disc wear tests were used to determine the hardness and tribological parameters of the coatings: the coefficient of the friction and wear rate. The scratch test and Rockwell test were applied to assess the adhesion of the coatings to the substrates. The corrosion properties of coating–steel substrate systems were investigated using potentiodynamic polarisation tests. Corrosion potential, corrosion current density and polarization resistance were determined. It was found that that the nitriding of steel substrates improves properties of the coating–substrate system. The nitriding 42CrMo4 steel substrate with low nitriding potential enable to obtain substrates without surface “white layer” what favours good adhesion of the coating to the substrate. The CrCN/CrN multilayer coating–steel substrate systems show good mechanical and tribological properties and corrosion resistance.  相似文献

Chromium nitride coatings with and without a carbon content being assigned as CrCN and CrN were prepared by cathodic arc evaporation. The effect of negative substrate bias voltages (10-300 V) on the microstructure, phase composition and morphology of the coating surface was studied. X-ray diffraction data show that almost all coatings crystallized in the cubic structure with (111) and (200) diffraction lines appearing only for low negative bias voltage and a (220) diffraction line being present for the coatings deposited at higher negative bias voltages. For CrN coatings obtained at −300 V a hexagonal structure was also observed. In case of CrCN coatings the (220) diffraction line shows much higher intensity than in case of CrN coatings and was significantly broadened. On the surface of the coatings a large number of macroparticles of different size was observed. An increase of bias voltage causes a reduction of the areal density of macroparticles and a decrease of the mean surface roughness Ra.  相似文献
