In this study, we examine digital game preferences by identifying game dynamics, i.e. player–game interaction modes, of 700 contemporary digital games, and players' (N = 1717) desire to play games with specific types of dynamics. Based on statistical analysis of the data, 5 game dynamics preference categories (“assault,” “manage,” “journey,” “care,” and “coordinate”) and 7 player types were revealed. The results show that identifying player types requires including both preferred and undesired game dynamics categories in the analysis. The findings unveil digital gaming as a more multifaceted phenomenon than common stereotypes suggest. The original game preferences model we present in this study can be conceptualized as a complementary approach for motivations to play and player behavior studies.  相似文献

Calibration samples for the Barkhausen noise (BN) method were produced with laser processing. A planet gear wheel used for production quality control was subjected to laser irradiation to verify the BN sensor output. Different samples were found to respond similarly to the laser processing although the laser parameters needed to be adjusted for different surface qualities separately. The surface optimization for laser processing was studied with different surface qualities of samples. The ground surface was compared with a sandblasted and vibratory ground surface. The ground and sandblasted surfaces were both amenable to the laser processing whereas the vibratory grinding process created inhomogeneous surfaces for laser beam absorption. Laser processing was found to produce uniform changes in the residual stress values in two perpendicular measuring directions. The root mean square value of the BN voltage signal exhibited linear correlations with the values of the residual stress and surface hardness.  相似文献

In this study, pretreatment liquor of acid-stored green and yellowish barley silage was used for fermentative acetone–butanol–ethanol (ABE) production. Further, the catalytic oxidation of biobutanol over Pt catalysts was studied to investigate the behaviour of butanol as a fuel in the combustion engine. After the hydrothermal treatment of green and yellowish barley silage followed by enzymatic hydrolysis, approximately 88% and 100% of the available sugars were recovered, respectively. Batch fermentations of pretreatment barley silage liquor, supplemented with gelatinised barley grain, showed good fermentability with total ABE concentrations of 9.0 g/L and 10.9 g/L. Butanol yields of 0.20, 0.17 and ABE yields of 0.28, 0.26 (g/g monosaccharide) were obtained, respectively. In catalytic activity measurements, the conversion of biobutanol became appreciable in the 120–140 °C range, whereas conversions greater than 95% were obtained over 200 °C. Selectivities were also high, although formation of by-products, such as butyraldehyde, was observed.  相似文献

A method applying solid-phase microextraction followed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometric determination was in-house validated and used to study furan concentrations in baby-food samples purchased from the Finnish markets. The validation parameters showed that the method was well applicable for the reliable analysis of furan. Furan was analysed in 21 different baby-food samples as three independent replicates. The mean levels of furan varied between 4.7 and 90.3 μg kg−1 being well in accordance with the levels reported in other studies. The mean concentrations of similar product formulas based on their ingredients were 9.2, 37.0 and 49.6 μg kg−1 for fruit-, vegetables- and meat-containing baby-foods, respectively. According to the statistical analyses, fruit-based baby-food samples had significantly lower concentrations of furan as compared to other formulas. Based on our exercise, it seems that a low margin of safety exists between the extreme worst case infant exposures and the deduced NOAEL of furan on experimental animals, particularly for a clear rodent carcinogen.  相似文献

Residual stress of case-hardened steel samples is predicted in this paper with the linear multivariable regression model. The development of the prediction model is based on the huge set of features calculated from the Barkhausen noise measurement signal among which the most suitable ones are chosen. The selection uses a genetic algorithm with leave-multiple-out cross-validation in the objective function. The original feature set contains collinear features that make the selection task even more complex. Thus a feature elimination procedure based on the successive projections algorithm is studied in this paper. Also the standard genetic algorithm is slightly modified to better serve the feature selection task. The obtained results are good showing that the proposed procedures suit well for residual stress predictions. Also the applied feature elimination procedure is applicable and can be safely used to reduce the dimensionality of the selection problem.  相似文献

This article presents the semantic portal MuseumFinland for publishing heterogeneous museum collections on the Semantic Web. It is shown how museums with their semantically rich and interrelated collection content can create a large, consolidated semantic collection portal together on the web. By sharing a set of ontologies, it is possible to make collections semantically interoperable, and provide the museum visitors with intelligent content-based search and browsing services to the global collection base. The architecture underlying MuseumFinland separates generic search and browsing services from the underlying application dependent schemas and metadata by a layer of logical rules. As a result, the portal creation framework and software developed has been applied successfully to other domains as well. MuseumFinland got the Semantic Web Challence Award (second prize) in 2004.  相似文献

An analytical procedure was evaluated for the comprehensive toxicological screening of drugs, metabolites, and pesticides in 1-mL urine samples by TurboIon spray liquid chromatography/time-of-flight mass spectrometry (LC/TOFMS) in the positive ionization mode and continuous mass measurement. The substance database consisted of exact monoisotopic masses for 637 compounds, of which an LC retention time was available for 392. A macroprogram was refined for extracting the data into a legible report, utilizing metabolic patterns and preset identification criteria. These criteria included +/-30 ppm mass tolerance, a +/-0.2-min window for absolute retention time, if available, and a minimum area count of 500. The limit of detection, determined for 90 compounds, was <0.1 mg/L for 73% of the compounds studied and >1.0 mg/L for 6% of the compounds. For method comparisons, 50 successive autopsy urine samples were analyzed by this method, and the results confirmed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Findings for parent drugs were consistent with both methods; in addition, LC/TOFMS regularly revealed apparently correct findings for metabolites not shown by GC/MS. Mean and median mass accuracy by LC/TOFMS was 7.6 and 5.4 ppm, respectively. The procedure proved well-suited for tentative identification without reference substances. The few false positives emphasized the fact that all three parameters, exact mass, retention time, and metabolite pattern, are required for unequivocal identification.  相似文献

Residual stresses are quantitatively predicted based on the Barkhausen noise measurement with a partial least squares regression model. The measurements are taken from two sets of case-hardened samples. The benefits of using certain feature elimination strategies prior model identification are also studied. The elimination methods applied are correlation-based elimination, uninformative variable elimination and successive projections algorithm. The results show that the best predictions are usually obtained when the successive projections algorithm is applied. The prediction accuracy of the best models found shows that partial least squares models can be successfully used for prediction of material properties based on the Barkhausen noise measurement.  相似文献

A new GC-MS method for characterization and quantification of phytosterol oxidation products was developed. Applicability of this method was tested by characterizing sitostanol oxides formed in bulk and then quantifying selected oxides in purified rapeseed oil and tripalmitin matrices in which the complex matrix made oxide analysis difficult. In bulk, nine different sitostanol oxides were characterized, including epimers of 7- and 15-hydroxysitostanol and 6- and 7-ketositostanol. In both lipid matrices, the amounts of sitostanol oxides generated in thermo-oxidation were very low. According to statistical analyses, depending on the oxide, the GC-MS results were the same or slightly higher than those quantified by the more common GC-FID method. Thus, GC-MS provides a powerful alternative for characterization and quantification of phytostanol oxides found in low amounts in complex matrices and is a promising method for future phytosterol oxide studies.  相似文献

Different synthetic biomaterials such as polylactide (PLA), polycaprolactone and poly-l-lactide-co-ε-caprolactone (PLCL) have been studied for urothelial tissue engineering, with favourable results. The aim of this research was to further optimize the growth surface for human urothelial cells (hUCs) by comparing different PLCL-based membranes: smooth (s) and textured (t) PLCL and knitted PLA mesh with compression-moulded PLCL (cPLCL). The effects of topographical texturing on urothelial cell response and mechanical properties under hydrolysis were studied. The main finding was that both sPLCL and tPLCL supported hUC growth significantly better than cPLCL. Interestingly, tPLCL gave no significant advantage to hUC attachment or proliferation compared with sPLCL. However, during the 14 day assessment period, the majority of cells were viable and maintained phenotype on all the membranes studied. The material characterization exhibited potential mechanical characteristics of sPLCL and tPLCL for urothelial applications. Furthermore, the highest elongation of tPLCL supports the use of this kind of texturing. In conclusion, in light of our cell culture results and mechanical characterization, both sPLCL and tPLCL should be further studied for urothelial tissue engineering.  相似文献
