A computer software system is designed for the segmentation and classification of benign and malignant tumor slices in brain computed tomography images. In this paper, we present a texture analysis methods to find and select the texture features of the tumor region of each slice to be segmented by support vector machine (SVM). The images considered for this study belongs to 208 benign and malignant tumor slices. The features are extracted and selected using Student's t‐test. The reduced optimal features are used to model and train the probabilistic neural network (PNN) classifier and the classification accuracy is evaluated using k fold cross validation method. The segmentation results are also compared with the experienced radiologist ground truth. Quantitative analysis between ground truth and segmented tumor is presented in terms of quantitative measure of segmentation accuracy and the overlap similarity measure of Jaccard index. The proposed system provides some newly found texture features have important contribution in segmenting and classifying benign and malignant tumor slices efficiently and accurately. The experimental results show that the proposed hybrid texture feature analysis method using Probabilistic Neural Network (PNN) based classifier is able to achieve high segmentation and classification accuracy effectiveness as measured by Jaccard index, sensitivity, and specificity.  相似文献

The present study was aimed to investigate the cognitive enhancing and anti-oxidant activities of Inonotus obliquus (Chaga) against scopolamine-induced experimental amnesia. Methanolic extract of Chaga (MEC) at 50 and 100 mg kg (-1)doses were administered orally for 7 days to amnesic mice. Learning and memory was assessed by passive avoidance task (PAT) and Morris water maze (MWM) test. Tacrine (THA, 10 mg kg (-1), orally (p.o)) used as a reference drug. To elucidate the mechanism of the cognitive enhancing activity of MEC, the activities of acetylcholinesterase (AChE), anti-oxidant enzymes, the levels of acetylcholine (ACh) and nitrite of mice brain homogenates were evaluated. MEC treatment for 7 days significantly improved the learning and memory as measured by PAT and MWM paradigms. Further, MEC significantly reduced the oxidative-nitritive stress, as evidenced by a decrease in malondialdehyde and nitrite levels and restored the glutathione and superoxide dismutase levels in a dose dependent manner. In addition, MEC treatment significantly decreased the AChE activity in both the salt and detergent-soluble fraction of brain homogenates. Further, treatment with MEC restored the levels of ACh as did THA. Thus, the significant cognitive enhancement observed in mice after MEC administration is closely related to higher brain anti-oxidant properties and inhibition of AChE activity. These findings stress the critical impact of Chaga, a medicinal mushroom, on the higher brain functions like learning and memory.  相似文献

The synthesis conditions and oxygen stoichiometry were determined using a thermogravimetric analyser. The kinetics of oxygenation at different temperatures and at different atmospheres were studied. The oxygenation kinetics were found to be sensitive to porosity of the material. The appropriate oxygenation temperature was found to be 400 °C. For oxygenation temperatures below 400 °C, the oxygenation occurs by a nucleation and growth process, whereas for higher temperatures it is diffusion limited.  相似文献

DNA aptamer-based bioanalysis of IgE by fluorescence anisotropy   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
A rapid, homogeneous aptamer-based bioanalysis is reported for the sensitive detection of immunoglobulin E (IgE) using fluorescence polarization (FP). 5'-End-labeled D17.4 DNA aptamer was used for IgE detection based on the anisotropy differences of the labeled ligand. Two different fluorophores, fluorescein and Texas Red, were used to analyze IgE in the low-nanomolar range with high specificity. Measurable anisotropy changes were observed with a short equilibration time. Analysis of the binding data reveals a possible cooperative binding process in solution. The nature of the fluorophore clearly influences the sensitivity of the analysis more than the tether length used for the dye conjugation. The local fluorophore motion is seen to influence the sensitivity of the FP probe significantly. Texas Red is seen to be relatively more sensitive for this approach and has apparently favorable dye-DNA interactions, and a limit of detection of 350 pM was obtained. Significant temperature dependence of the FP responses has been observed in this work. Ionic composition of the binding buffer also influences the assay sensitivity. The results confirm the promise and potential of similar homogeneous assays for aptamer-based bioanalysis.  相似文献

This paper investigates the impact of on-site variables on the influence of vegetation in lowering outdoor temperature. The study uses six critical on-site variables such as surface albedo, sky view factor, altitude, shrub cover, tree cover and average height to floor area ratio to carry out analysis in five data sets. The climatic parameters and physical characteristics were measured and surveyed, respectively in 216 stations in high-rise high-density residential developments of coastal Hong Kong. The data set is mainly categorised into peak summer clear sky days (PSCS-days), peak summer partially cloudy days (PSPC-days) and late summer days to address the issues related to cloudy sky conditions in Hong Kong. The trend analysis shows that at a lower sky view factor, ranging from 0.1 to 0.25, shrub cover as low as 10–15% in a 1000 m2 open area is more effective in reducing outdoor temperature than the same level of tree cover in a location with a higher sky view factor (0.4 or above). The regression models used in this study were able to explain the influence of on-site variables on vegetation in lowering the outdoor temperature within the respective urban settings. In high-rise high-density environments, on-site variables such as sky view factor and altitude have a substantial impact on the influence of vegetation in lowering outdoor temperature. However, off-site variables such as high urban density and anthropogenic heat could negate the behaviour of sky view factor and altitude. The study suggests that increasing the tree cover from 25% to 40% in the pocket parks in coastal area residential developments of Hong Kong could reduce daytime urban heat island intensity (UHI) by further 0.5 °C.  相似文献

[Pb(ZrxTi1-x)O3: PZT] films at morphotropic phase boundary composition (x = 0.52) were deposited on bare Si, ZrO2/Si and Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrates by sol–gel spin on technique. Films deposited on the bare Si and ZrO2/Si substrates had low degree of crystallization and micro cracks. Well crystallized films with smooth microstructure were obtained on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrates. Further, the thickness of the films on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrate was increased up to ~1 μm by step-by-step crystallization process. The single perovskite phase of the above films was confirmed with X-ray diffraction analysis. Films had enhanced dielectric properties at room temperature and the dielectric constant values were comparable to those of bulk values at Curie temperature (Tc) from the temperature dependent dielectric measurements. Films exhibit higher remnant polarization (Pr) and lower coercive field (Ec) values. Further, capacitance–voltage (C–V), current–voltage (I–V) measurements and rough estimation of piezoelectric coefficient of the films were carried out.  相似文献
