Epoxy has been widely used as adhesives in retrofitting structures with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP). In this study, different weight fractions of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and Silicon Carbide nanopowder (SiC) will be dispersed into epoxy to produce toughened adhesives that can effectively improve the CFRP/structure bonding performance. The preliminary experimental results indicate that adding 2 wt.% MWCNTs into Araldite-420 will increase its ultimate strength by 17% and its elastic modulus by 14%. On the other hand, Araldite-420’s elastic modulus will increase by nearly 50% when 1.0 wt.% of SiC powder is added. Ultrasonic mixing may increase the elastic modulus of Sikadur-30 but reduce its strength and ductility regardless of the amount of nanoparticles dispersed. No significant effect of nano-particle infusion on the glass transition temperature of the epoxies was found. The mechanism of nanoparticles infusion effects on the mechanical properties of the epoxies is also examined using SEM.  相似文献

As a result of the advances in solid state, electronics, sensor, wireless communication technologies, as well as evolutions in the material science and manufacturing technologies, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and unmanned aerial systems (UAS) have become more accessible by civilian entities, industry, as well as academia. There is a high level of market driven standardisation in the electronics and mechanical components used on UAVs. However, the implemented software of a UAS does not exhibit the same level of standardisation and compartmentalisation. This is a major bottleneck limiting software maintenance, and software reuse across multiple UAS programs. This paper addresses the software development processes adapted by the Australian Centre for Field Robotics (ACFR) in major UAS projects. The presented process model promotes software reuse without sacrificing the reliability and safety of the networked UAS with particular emphasis on the role of distributed simulation and middleware in the development and maintenance processes.  相似文献

The disadvantages of the poor mechanical properties of polylactic acid (PLA) limit its ability to be used in a wide number of applications. Melt blending of PLA and thermoplastic polyester elastomer (TPEE) has been performed in an effort to toughen the PLA without significant losses in modulus and ultimate tensile strength. In order to enhance the compatibility of PLA and TPEE, a diisocyanate compound was used as a reactive modifier. The thermal and mechanical properties, miscibility and phase morphologies of the blends were investigated. A blend of PLA and TPEE with a modifier does not lead to an important drop in tensile strength and modulus whereas the elongation at break is characterized by a significant increase (above 300%), compared with that of neat PLA and PLA/TPEE. The blends of PLA/TPEE/Modifier were found by thermal and fractured surface analysis to be an immiscible system with the addition of a modifier. However, the relative ductility of PLA/TPEE/Modifier is 34 times higher than that of neat PLA. The brittle fracture of neat PLA was transformed into a ductile fracture by the addition of a modifier.  相似文献

Ground motions under earthquake loading are influenced by the local soil conditions, but the non-linearity of the soil behavior makes it difficult to estimate the site response. The paper reports a non-linear analysis developed to elucidate the effect of non-linearity on site response, illustrating its applicability with reference to a petroleum storage tank site subjected to earthquake excitation.  相似文献

Some in-vivo and in-vitro characteristics of pectin methylesterase (PME) from cell wall and whole potato tuber were determined and its role was elucidated in the pre-cooking and cooling steps of commercial dehydrated mashed potato production. The isolated cell walls contained 16.3% anhydrogalacturonic acid with a degree of esterification (DE) of 56, and 25% of tuber total PME. Cell wall pre-cooking in model systems resulted in a DE of 53.2. Native cell wall pectin solubilisation was much less than that of H-cell walls devoid of metal cations. Calcium but not Mg, supplied as Ca(Mg)-starches, retarded pectin solubilisation, while Ca-uptake by retained pectin was high when cooling followed pre-cooking. Texture measurements of potato slices pre-cooked, cooled and cooked suggested a firming effect which could be attributed to Ca-release from gelatinised starch during pre-cooking, and stabilisation of Cabridges with free COO? groups of cell wall pectin duringcooling. The role ascribed to PME in causing firming is de-emphasised.  相似文献

The key purpose of this study was to test the use of a permeable blanket made up of a geocomposite drainage layer (GDL) for leachate recirculation in municipal solid waste (MSW) landfills and to predict the observed leachate travel in the blanket using a numerical model. A 34?m long by 12?m wide permeable blanket made up of GDL was constructed at an active MSW landfill located in Michigan. Leachate was injected in the GDL using a perforated pipe placed centrally above the GDL along its length. Moisture content sensors, pressure transducers, thermistors, thermocouple sensors, and a vertical load sensor were embedded immediately below the GDL blanket to monitor the flow of injected leachate. After the blanket was covered with waste, leachate was injected into the blanket at rates ranging from 0.9 to 2.6?m3/h per meter length of the blanket. Data collected from the embedded sensors indicated that the injected leachate traveled at rates ranging from 5 to 18?m/h through the blanket depending upon the leachate injection rate. Only pressure transducers and thermistors were consistently able to detect migration of injected leachate once the blanket got saturated. Moisture content sensors could not register any change in readings once the blanket became saturated. Leachate injection pressure monitored over a period of about 12 months indicated no signs of clogging of the blanket. The leachate pressures measured immediately below the blanket were less than the net leachate injection pressure indicting that there was a head loss in the GDL blanket. Numerical modeling of liquid flow in the blanket indicated that predicted leachate travel in the blanket was consistent with the field data for assumed values of the waste hydraulic conductivity. In the absence of measured representative hydraulic properties of the waste, absolute verification of the field data was not possible.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The retention of ethanol as a simulated flavour was determined by drying single droplets in a horizontal wind tunnel, with fructose, reconstituted skim milk or coffee as the flavour encapaulant. Droplet temperature histories, ethanol content, and crust structure were evaluated for each encapsulant. No enhancement of volatile retention was obtained with the fructose eolutions irrespective of initial concentration, air velocity, or air temperature. Enhancement of the volatiles retention with the coffee and skim milk solutions correlated with an increase in initial solide concentration. resulting from selective diffusion phenomena and the formation of a resistant skin. In both cases air velocity had no significant effect upon volatiles retention. Skin forming materials with similar characteristics would be advantageous for flavour retention.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Drying studies were carried out on single droplets suspended from a rotating nozzle in a horizontal wind tunnel. Droplets were of solution of a third type of skin-forming material, namely the natural products skim milk or fructose. Droplet weight and temperature were measured during the drying process. Dried crusts were recovered and examined by Scanning Electron Microscopy.

With this type of material a skin first forms at any drying condition on the surface of the droplet at a cerlain stage of drying. A crust subsequently forms beneath the skin. The final dried panicle retains the structure and properties of the original powder, unless the material is dried at very high temperatures. e.g. >300 °C. which result in burning.

An increase in air temperature resulted in the formation of a smoother skin offering a higher resistance to vapour diffusion. At temperatures over 100 °C droplets exhibited puffing or ballooning phenomena; i.e. they inflated and deflated many times before forming the final dried particles.  相似文献

We present a voltage mode switched-capacitor Field ProgrammableAnalog Array (FPAA) to be used to implement various filter structures.The FPAA consists of uniform configurable analog blocks (CABs)allowing implementation of different functions. Each CAB consistsof two back-to-back connected inverting and non-inverting strays-insensitiveswitched-capacitor integrators. The interconnection between CABsis implemented by switched and unswitched capacitor networks.The internal structure of CABs and the interconnection betweendifferent CABs are configured by user-programmable digital controlsignals.
