In this paper, the concept of Human-Centred Technology will be described with regard to the different dimensions of workplace, groupwork and networks and in terms of the frameworks of both society and the natural environment. These different aspects of Human-Centred Systems will be illustrated by a series of case studies representing several European countries. The report covers a wide range of research fields. The emphasis is on technology: the roles of control and information technology in enterprises today — including issues of applying AI — and the strategies of designing and implementing technology taking into account the specific aspects which characterize human-centred systems.  相似文献

Temperature dependence of measuring instruments represents one of the most influential error sources in measurement of most physical quantities. There are several methods of reducing or cancelling substantial temperature influence on instruments.

In this paper we are describing a calculative correction method in the field of precision magnetic flux density measurements, which involves mathematical correction of the instrument properties. For dc magnetic fields under 5 mT, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements are both impractical and time-consuming and in some environments even impossible. To avoid complex NMR measurements, field coils as magnetic flux density transfer standards are often used. A method for correction of an air-cored field coil’s coil-constant in order to take into account its temperature dependence is presented. As a result, instead of a complex NMR measurement only a simple current and temperature measurement were needed to calculate the generated magnetic flux density with relative uncertainty of 0.025%.  相似文献

We assume a financial market governed by a diffusion process reverting to a stochastic mean which is itself governed by an unobservable ergodic diffusion, similar to those observed in electricity and other energy markets. We develop a moment method algorithm for the estimation of the parameters of both the observable process and the unobservable stochastic mean. Our approach is contrasted with other methods for parameter estimation of partially observed diffusions, and applications to the modelling of interest rates and commodity prices are discussed.  相似文献

Galectins are a family of conserved soluble proteins defined by an affinity for β-galactoside structures present on various glycoconjugates. Over the past few decades, galectins have been recognized as important factors for successful implantation and maintenance of pregnancy. An increasing number of studies have demonstrated their involvement in trophoblast cell function and placental development. In addition, several lines of evidence suggest their important roles in feto-maternal immune tolerance regulation and angiogenesis. Changed or dysregulated galectin expression is also described in pregnancy-related disorders. Although the data regarding galectins’ clinical relevance are still at an early stage, evidence suggests that some galectin family members are promising candidates for better understanding pregnancy-related pathologies, as well as predicting biomarkers. In this review, we aim to summarize current knowledge of galectins in early pregnancy as well as in pregnancy-related pathologies.  相似文献

Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common and deadly primary brain tumor in adults. Understanding GBM pathobiology and discovering novel therapeutic targets are critical to finding efficient treatments. Upregulation of the lysosomal cysteine carboxypeptidase cathepsin X has been linked to immune dysfunction and neurodegenerative diseases, but its role in cancer and particularly in GBM progression in patients is unknown. In this study, cathepsin X expression and activity were found to be upregulated in human GBM tissues compared to low-grade gliomas and nontumor brain tissues. Cathepsin X was localized in GBM cells as well as in tumor-associated macrophages and microglia. Subsequently, potent irreversible (AMS36) and reversible (Z7) selective cathepsin X inhibitors were tested in vitro. Selective cathepsin X inhibitors decreased the viability of patient-derived GBM cells as well as macrophages and microglia that were cultured in conditioned media of GBM cells. We next examined the expression pattern of neuron-specific enzyme γ-enolase, which is the target of cathepsin X. We found that there was a correlation between high proteolytic activity of cathepsin X and C-terminal cleavage of γ-enolase and that cathepsin X and γ-enolase were colocalized in GBM tissues, preferentially in GBM-associated macrophages and microglia. Taken together, our results on patient-derived material suggest that cathepsin X is involved in GBM progression and is a potential target for therapeutic approaches against GBM.  相似文献

A micropump based on strong polarization of ion-exchange beads and corresponding actuation by electroosmosis of the second kind was designed and fabricated. Experimental results from operation with AC and DC voltage showed a close to second order relationship between flow and voltage, in good agreement with theory. The difference between experimental and theoretical flow rates and pressures is attributed to the hydrodynamic resistance of the channel network. A modified pump design which should yield higher flow rates and pressures was suggested.  相似文献

Thick films with the nominal composition 0.65Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3–0.35PbTiO3 (0.65PMN–0.35PT) were produced by screen-printing and firing paste prepared from an organic vehicle and pre-reacted powder. The films were fired for 2 h at 950 °C on alumina (Al2O3), platinum (Pt), aluminium nitride (AlN) and 0.65PMN–0.35PT substrates. The films were then characterized using scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and dielectric constant measurements. The X-ray analysis did not detect the presence of any undesirable pyrochlore phase, and the differences in the phase compositions were determined with a Rietveld refinement. The variations of the cell parameters vs. the temperature for the monoclinic and tetragonal phases were calculated. It was demonstrated that under similar processing conditions the microstructures, phase compositions and dielectric properties strongly depended on the stress in the thick films due to the different temperature expansion coefficients of the thick films and the substrates. The 0.65PMN–0.35PT thick films under compressive stresses (for the case of the Al2O3 and Pt substrates) exhibited a tetragonal phase in addition to the monoclinic one. The films were sintered to a high density and with a coarse microstructure. These microstructures favour a high dielectric constant. In contrast, for the films under a tensile stress, like the films on AlN substrates, the films were sintered to a lower density and the microstructure consisted of smaller grains. The X-ray analysis showed mainly a monoclinic phase, while the tetragonal phase was not detected. These results indicate the importance of the stresses in 0.65PMN–0.35PT thick films and their influence on the structural and electrical characteristics of the films.  相似文献

Calibration laboratories and national metrology institutes are commonly calibrating thermal imagers with equipment and procedures that were primarily developed for the calibration of optical radiation thermometers. This approach provides direct calibration results only for a small percentage of the detector elements, which are in view of a blackbody aperture. For the remaining detector elements of the thermal imager under calibration, it is assumed that they have the same characteristics. This inference may not be always true, so a new calibration procedure is presented, which evaluates not only the correction and uncertainty of the selected detector elements, but also the uniformity of all detector elements of the thermal imager. Uniformity evaluation is based on two different approaches for the evaluation of the entire field-of-view (FOV) of the thermal imager. The first approach consists of dividing the imager FOV into partial FOVs according to the available size of the blackbody aperture. Each of the partial FOVs is successively positioned in front of a blackbody aperture, and it is automatically assembled into a single result image. The idea of the second approach is to position all detector elements (entire FOV) at the same time in front of a large blackbody aperture. Experimental work and analysis of both approaches for the calibration procedure of thermal imagers are presented.  相似文献

Iron plays a central role in the pathogenesis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the principal causative agent of tuberculosis. To learn more about iron acquisition by this bacterium, its iron regulated proteins (IRPs) were investigated. Seven IRPs were identified - three increased by high iron concentrations, and four by low iron concentrations. The smallest protein induced by low iron, Irp10, is tightly iron regulated as it is virtually absent in bacteria cultured in the presence of high iron concentrations. The gene (irpA ) encoding this protein and an adjacent open reading frame, mtaA, were cloned and sequenced. The protein encoded by mtaA (Mta72) has striking homology to metal transporting P-type ATPases. This study suggests that Irp10 and Mta72 function as a two-component metal transport system in M. tuberculosis.  相似文献
